The @BOM_Qld has confirmed the 6 day rainfall total for Brisbane. It was the largest downpour in Brisbane’s history, with 792.8mm to 9am Monday. This broke the previous record of 655.8mm in 1974. #Rainbomb

Stay safe! There’s no need to press the pedestrian crossing button in the CBD, Southbank and The Valley. We’ve already switched 560 pedestrian crossing buttons to automatic mode and we’ll continue to roll this initiative out in other high-pedestrian areas.

Queensland’s failed lockout laws need to be rolled-back ASAP. Council has consistently opposed them, and now the evidence shows that - despite major costs for business - they have achieved nothing positive. A vibrant nightlife is an important part of our city’s unique lifestyle.

BREAKING NEWS: The Bicentennial Bikeway has reopened! The State Government handed the bikeway back to us this afternoon once the area around Drift was made safe and we’ve been able to act quickly to open it for shared use in time for Easter.

It’s been talked about for more than 100 years, but we’re making it happen! A contract is expected to be awarded mid-year, ahead of construction starting in later in 2021. This will mean hundreds of jobs as well as less traffic, with around 83,000 car trips taken off the road.

The much-anticipated Kangaroo Point Bridge is taking shape with the the final span installed this week. A bridge linking Kangaroo Point to Brisbane’s CBD has been discussed for decades and now it’s being delivered by Brisbane City Council and the Australian Government.

This will challenge some outdated perceptions of Queensland being a place that people retire to. In fact Brisbane has now become Australia’s biggest magnet for Millennials (25-44 years old) moving from places like Melbourne, Sydney and other State capitals.
