Many couples who don’t wish to marry will now be able to have the rights enjoyed by married couples. They offer considerable protection when a partner dies so I am a big supporter of opposite sex civil partnerships. Yet more modern, liberal policy from @Conservatives @trussliz

Today we moved another step closer to opposite sex civil partnerships. I have signed the statutory instruments following debate in the House of Commons. If all goes to plan couples should be able to hold ceremonies from December 31st onwards. #civilpartnerships

My deputy @HelenFisher62 put in a night shift last week with the Central Motorway Police Group. She has been experiencing the different ways we police roads in Staffordshire. Pleased this is in the Chief’s plans and fully funded by the budget agreed yesterday. @StaffsPFCC
