About a decade ago I went to Alton Towers. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life was to find out I couldn’t go on some rides because of the size.
Today I’ve lost 10 stone and was able to take my daughter on every ride at Alton Towers.
I feel better in my self and walk a little taller.
A lot of people feel self conscious about exercise, find it difficult or don’t know where to start.
This ‘peaceful’ protest involved grown men screaming Tory scum at my 11 yr old daughter….
These people aren’t really bothered about a cause, they make little videos like that try and make a profile for themselves and intimidate others.
A disgrace to our city
On Friday 23rd February, Stoke and Newcastle conservatives held a re-election fundraising dinner with Ben Adam (Conservative Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire).
A peaceful “SURPRISE” protest outside Mirchi Restaurant was held.
I felt self conscious about going to the gym, I couldn’t really run and didn’t really know what to do.
I started walking, a few miles each day. That turned into going to the gym, late at night when it was quiet.
Today I can run miles, having done 2️⃣ half marathons.
Completed my first full half marathon today! I used to weigh 25 stone, struggled to walk for long distances never mind run!
Without doubts one of the proudest things I’ve done!
Did you ever think you’d see the chairman of
@Conservatives
@JamesCleverly
door knocking on Norton estate!
That’s because we know Stoke North has had enough of being ignored by successive labour MPs. So many can’t wait to vote for
@JEGullis
and back
@BorisJohnson
on Thursday!
A couple of nasty comments on Facebook last week about my weight, and running.
Always been self conscious when I’m running so it did bother me, but you can’t let other people dictate what you do!
5 miles through Cobridge this morning!
@NavidKaleem
1/2 I backed a motion at council calling for a ceasefire, as did all Stoke-on-Trent Cllrs.
I also have no issues with peaceful protests. Coming inside to deliberately intimidate as happened, hurling insults as happened is wrong.
There is no better reception than running through your own ward as part of the Potters Arf!
Incredbily proud to say. I successfully ran my 2 half marathons! Raising funds for MHA and
@HUBBFoundation_
as well as promoting the brilliant
@StokeFostering
Really really proud!
@NavidKaleem
2/2 I’d add that the man who calls himself Stoke-on-Trent Tiger, and his organisation are nothing only thugs.
I won’t engage with anyone who is connected to them.
I’m a conservative, and a proud one but hearing Lucy Fraser this morning blame everything except the behaviour of our parliamentary party for the loss of dedicated, hard working local Cllrs is an insult.
Say sorry, take responsibility.
@chrismills964
Yet you’ve not condemned people screaming at my daughter? Or in your view is that ok because I’m a Tory? Curious as to where the line is
Every now and then it’s good to take a moment and consider how far you’ve come.
I did put a little weight on in lockdown, but I’m back 🏃♂️ and going the gym, but I’m still a massively different person than I was 5 years ago!

Can’t quite believe the transformation in
@HanleyPark
Incredible work to preserve the heritage of the park, while making sure it works in the 21st century. Heritage being used at its best!
Very proud to have been able to not only finish my stint, but carry on until the end!
Amazing atmosphere, especially running through Baddeley Green and Milton!
Got to celebrate with my mates
@AbiBrown1
@faisal_hussa1n
and
@DrChandraK9
and the fantastic
@StokeFostering
team
It’s quite clear to me that
@UKLabour
proposal to scrap OFSTED would be a major step back, not just for education but for children’s social care. Removal of challenge does nothing to improve standards!
Very proud to be apart of such amazing team,
@Conservatives
going from 7 to 15 in May, and taking all three seats last night!
No group of people id rather stand with!
Congratulations to
@JEGullis
,
@jogideon
and Jack!
#Congain
My MP
@JEGullis
doing a superb job in standing up for our history and heritage!
War memorial stand for those that fought for our country and defended our freedoms!
"Had allied forces not been successful in their mission, make no mistake: we would be living under the tyranny of totalitarian, fascist insanity."
Tory MP Jonathan Gullis proposes legislation that would increase punishments for desecrating war memorials.
Very proud to be re-elected to continue represent Baddeley, Milton and Norton. It’s been an honour to work for my home, and a pleasure to be joint by
@JamesSmith_SoT
and Carl Edwards.

Noticed these posters at a couple of schools with in my patch, brilliant to see walking to school being promoted!
I know not everyone can but I do think a lot of car journeys can be cut out by walking where possible!
Last run before Sunday.
Good time to reflect, I’m only doing 5 miles of
#pottersarf
but as someone that once weighed 25 stone I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
That being said I’d murder a full English right about now!
Our economy is the single biggest issue facing us right now. Bringing stability, growth and support to small and medium sized businesses is key!
Earlier this year I heard first hand at the
@TeapotMilton
the view of
@RishiSunak
I’m supporting him for leader

Through A level and Degree I’ve studied the 1986 garden festival on Stoke as an example

regeneration!
Found this in
@SoTCityCouncil
today with the original layout!
This is from someone who would tell you I’m horrid because I’m a Tory.... yet sees nothing wrong with making nasty comments about my weight....
You crack on trolling pal, I’ll keep delivering, losing weight, and generally working every day to make my city better!
Incredibly proud moment! Celebrating our amazing social care staff, and all they have achieved over the past 12 months.
There is not a finer group of people I would wish to work with!
@LTPM2
Final week of Knife Angel events, had this sent to me done by
@SoTCityCouncil
learning disability’s youth group.
Very proud to see how this has touched lives across our city!
A year or so ago I got anxious going into a gym, I started running early in the morning so no one was about because I was self conscious, today I ran in the evening with people all around. Sometimes you have to get through your barriers to really win!
🏋️♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️💪
My mates at
@Sotlive
often use the photo of me on the right, as you can see I’ve lost weight since then!
In all seriousness it’s always good to see the difference!
All set up for a sleep out in Norton Green this evening to raise money for the Red Cross
Couldn’t find a more beautiful place to camp down by the River Trent
4 miles through Norton Heights, Sneyd Green, Carmountside and Milton.
By far the strongest I’ve felt during a run, my fastest time ever for that route!
Tomorrow I will relinquish one of the most important jobs I could ever hold, our cities lead member for children services.
In my time I’ve overseen improvements to our services rated by
@Ofstednews
Pushed for opportunities for our young people through our

work
When I first started the gym I went at 11 at night because I felt self conscious.
Similarly when I started running in the streets it took a long time to feel remotely comfortable
Today I read a tweet like the one below and can say whilst I find it rude it doesn’t stop me…
First time I have been in the refurbed cafe at Hanley Park.
Such a beautiful place to have a sit and watch the world go by, on my way to
@FamilybyUk
picnic
Nipped to Hanley this morning, great to see people out socially distancing and supporting the City Centre!
Some fantastic entertainment put on by
@StokeontrentBID
A year ago today I ran half of a half marathon!
Since then I managed to run 2 half marathons and continue to build up my fitness and lose weight. It is very hard at times but it makes a huge difference!
10k this morning, hitting Chell Heath, Fegg Hayes, Tunstall, Stanfields, Burslem, Cobridge, Sneyd Green and home!
Good pace, and really enjoyed it!
💪🏅🏃♂️
Watching Stoke on countryfile.... one of my proudest moments as a
@SoTCityCouncil
councillor was to chair planning.
This second phase of Victoria ground gaining permission on my final meeting as chair!

Opening of Tunstall hall this morning, bringing an historic space in our city back into use.
Home to one of our new family hubs! Ensuring children and families are apart of our future as a city, and they are apart of celebrating our heritage!
I hate this photo, but I keep it saved as a favourite on my phone.
It remind me everyday of why I keep going, keep 🏃♂️. My daughter doesn’t recognise him 🔽
I was asked yesturday why my ward is special to me. I talked about my community, my family history and what I believe about our City.
I forgot to mention this view.... this is Baddeley,Milton and Norton. This is home, and it’s my great honour to represent it!

4th 🏃♂️ this week following with weighing myself.
During lockdown I’ve put on weight but I’ve lost consistently over the last 3 weeks, up to 8lb lost so far!
Thursdays weight in day but went a day early and for first time I saw 16 Stone 12 on the scales! That’s 8stone 1 lost in total!
Celebrated with 7 miles along the Caldon
🏃♂️😁💪
I said I wanted to be 18 stone by my birthday, and with 3 days spare this was my weight this morning!
6stone 11lb lost so far, and now only 2st13 to go to my target!

The greatest concern for anyone in Children’s services is the unknown, so the news that
@SoTCityCouncil
now has 0 in allocated cases, and 0 unregulated placements is incredible!
It is a testimony to the hard of our fantastic staff and proof we are moving forward!
Reopening of the old railway line from Leek to Stoke could make a huge difference to mass transit across the Potteries! My residents in Baddeley, Milton and Norton and my MP
@JEGullis
would love to Milton station reopened!
Came into the office find
@StokeontrentBID
latest magazine, send to 4000 students across the City!
Absolutely fantastic to see our City reaching out to students to make them feel at home!
Really looking forward to our workshop tomorrow in Smithfield developing our Children’s 4 year plan! It’s vital partners are there
@StaffsCCGs
@StaffsPolice
@ymcans
to map out how we move children’s to the centre of our Cities narrative!
Just 1.5 miles outside Stoke and you can be around the stunning
#Knypersleyreservoir
. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and interesting part of the world!
Stoke-on-Trent is known as a friendly place, people that always say hello and look out for each other.
We want opportunities for all of our young people, especially those in our care.
So important we push for our care leavers!
My personally speaking in
@Sotlive
As it’s
#staffordshireday
today been for a walk around one of my favourite places, Knypersley reservoir.
So incredibly lucky to have this on my door step!
In Baddeley Green campaigning this morning with my my collegue
@JamesSmith_SoT
and Stoke North candidate
@JEGullis
. A little damp but a warm reception on the doorsteps
Today I bumped into a care leaver I’d met before, last time I saw her she was struggling, not sure what she wanted to do
She now has an apprenticeship with
@UnitasSoT
. A position created because my mate
@JamesSmith_SoT
pushed for it on their board
Out at
#BetterWorldFestival
this afternoon promoting
@StokeFostering
and the incredible job foster carers do across Stoke-on-Trent.
Massive thank you to Pete and Izzy for sharing their experiences, and the difference fostering can make to a family
Losing weight is hard but with some small changes we can all feel fitter and healthier.
If we all do our bit, we can reduce our health risks and protect ourselves against coronavirus – as well as taking pressure off the NHS.

Resident who I haven’t seen in a year or so, comes up to me so proud to say her son has not only got his maths and English but he’s going to University.
She says the help he had from
@SoTCityCouncil
with his autism has made such a difference.
Made my day!
‘Children will power the city’s progress’
My personally speaking column in
@Sotlive
talking about how we need to include young people in our city, both in its present and it’s future!
How important it is to link together existing youth services to drive change
Very proud to be at

An amazing effort by businesses across our city, and our council!
