A baffling part of @smh 's 'red alert' was 1 expert saying that a 'black swan' event could be a "left-wing coalition" coming to power in Aus & weakening US alliance. 1. alliance is a means, not an end 2. It has broad support 3. This clearly not politically dispassionate analysis
