@ScottMoffatt21 Although it may seem "nasty," I'd argue it is still important to hold incumbent councillors to account. Horizon critiques decisions and votes made by incumbents, but never engages in the direct personal attacks that are a hallmark of US-style campaigning.

I don't know what it was like in the past, but the vast majority of urban Canadians today are socialists. Trudeau/Singh/Gondek/Notley/Horgan/Sohi/Tory etc did not lie about their platforms. They ran on socialism. And the cities rewarded them with their votes.

At 9:51 today, the leaders of petition movements across 4 school boards in Ontario sent an email to @Sflecce requesting the implementation of a province-wide mark accommodation. Combined, we have over 15k signatures and can easily get more. Please help spread the word.

It's been a blast running @HorizonOttawa 's summer canvassing campaign! By canvassing twice a week with an avg of 4-5 volunteers each time, we have been able to knock ~6500 doors across the city & acquired ~1450 signatures directly from canvassing. Sadly, I'm leaving this... 🧵

Amalgamation wasn't a mistake unfortunately - it was a tool knowingly used to lessen the power of local governments by Conservative governments. But as long as amalgamation continues to be the reality - progressives need to up their organizing game outside the core and we will.
