I may be an agent now but when I was querying, I had a novel that an agent read, rejected, and subsequently changed their MSWL to match my novel to a T. So it’s an unfortunately common practice and it’s disappointing to see it keep happening

There are too many PUBLISHED books with white authors writing about us. It’s worse imo when they take their spouse’s name and name bait. They know they’ll get published (“I want to write on my new family culture”) while own voices will be seen as saturating the market

@reesamguerra Yeah but that’s the thing, if you’re gonna ask for diversity, expect diverse stakes. Like actually different ideas of what a stake can be and how that would look in a story. And it was more than one agent, not a one off thing
