getting to know high charisma people is a disappointing process
you establish this strong rapport with someone quickly and it’s special to you. then you realise that they have this connection with everyone and it’s just like any other interaction for them
you can’t even be mad
unfortunately moving apologetically is bad for your health.
chronically restrict your movements and you unlearn embodiment. you forget how to inhabit your own body comfortably
i have this theory that you should let your other pets see your dead pet’s body so they *get it* and don’t sit on the windowsill waiting for friend to come home
people have strong ideas about how you’re entitled to move based on how good looking they think you are
they will punish you if they think you’re out of line
you’re a lurker but you’ve decided you want followers
- have a pfp, a bio, original tweets and a header image
- reply to cool people you like
- don’t be completely illegible (it’s tempting)
bonus
- use words that signal you understand ingroup ideas
for those who keep chickens, how long did it take you to stop naming them? for us it was probably after our second brood was born, so a couple of years. chickens come and go. real farmers know
i read this book about parenting explosive children (it was incredible) and the main insight i got from it is that “unpredictable” difficult children are generally reacting to about 8–12 problems that come up again and again
i think this may be true for adults too
@BootsPlatypus
parties, courses, college. it’s possible you’ve met charismatic people who are more measured/selective in the intensity of their attention. this may even look bitchy, mean or cold
Baguette Most Overrated Breadstuff?
• stale after six hours
• delicious crust tears up your gums mercilessly
• hard to pull apart with your hands
• uninspiring when sliced
• fluffy interior is flattened when you spread stuff on it
• too much textural contrast
will anyone admit how dumb darvo is?
if you’ve been falsely accused, of course you’ll deny it, “attacking” the accuser by claiming they are the perpetrator (of false accusation) and you the victim
k this is a sincerepoast
when i’m depressed or overwhelmed i get… not nonverbal, but communication – at the level of forming sentences, making sense of what people are saying and following the string of conversation – becomes challenging
i’d been in a cocoon of self abandonment for so long. i woke up from it one day this summer but still every day i have to wake up from it anew… every moment, i have to keep pressing down on the It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way button

Impactful ethical consumerism requires a properly competitive market, which airlines are shielded from, in large part because of inadequate government protection of consumer interests
take a painting class!!! colour is fascinating and you learn so much by carefully studying a single image and reproducing it “pixel by pixel”
you’ll never see the same again.
low hanging fruit for life enjoyment
a probation officer once told me that the single thing all her problem cases had in common was that they don't ever check their mail
i think about that a lot because i immediately recognized the kind of person she was talking about. their lives are usually a mess

I assumed it’s an artistic choice? I find it kinda cool… you just get the vibe of each post and the content is just an overwhelming, contradictory, incongruous and out of context stream of real people’s thoughts and experiences
i live on the seventh floor and lately decided to only take the stairs FoR mY hEaLtH
there’s an evil little contrarian imp in me that’s loving this, like THINK of those pitiable liftcels! they don’t even know they could be getting FREE exercise. witness the stairmaxxèd QUEEN!!
i spend seven hours in desperate, feverish conversation with you trying to explain my life philosophy. finally, i get up, slip this sheet across the table and walk out of your life forever
what’s your open?
My sister hired some Amish guys to tear down an old shed the size of a small cabin and build a new one and she said they got there at 7:30 in the morning, had the old shed torn down and hauled away by 9:30, and the new shed completely built by 11:30 lol
i find his takes trigger me. i don’t follow him. but i like the plurality of voices in the conversation. he seems like a genuine person with a useful perspective
the feminine is fiery, visionary, alchemical, spirited. birth and death. violence, creation, destruction. revelation, revolution, really quite disagreeable, terrible in its intensity. it is inspiration itself, the ensouling breath of life. it is unquestionably kiki
all my attempts at living with people in the past have failed, but this gives me hope that if i found people with the right kind of autism (the ten day cleaning the kitchen trust rebuilding sprint kind) we could make it work
Just heard about a group house that was in a really bad place because of conflict around cleaning the kitchen and someone stepped in to facilitate a 10 day sprint where they all really focused on rebuilding trust around kitchen things and the entire vibe of the house has shifted
the masculine is steady, strong, reliable, predictable, nourishing, protective, disciplined. it maintains, enacts, affirms. it is a haven, it is hearth and home – the base from which greatness can emerge. it is bouba
my mother’s friend was made to take a course on grandparenting before getting access to her grandchild
apparently the gist was that you have to respect the parents’ wishes in all matters
i don’t mean to pick on this one poster but this phenomenon of americans talking about things that are broadly true across the first world but only mentioning the US has always been so weird to me
can you imagine a german saying this about germany?
the fact that you can walk into ~any restaurant in ~any american city and be highly confident you won't get poisoned is an underrated feature of modernity
insane how overstimulated and exhausted i feel after having people over, even though i get so much joy out of it.
it feels like some kind of mindset problem?
