It is Yemaya’s Day!
May she bring all of us, her children, victory. May she heal the world.
May she unbind us, and give us the powers to break our chains. Ashé

It took me 3 days to get past this INTRO. I rewound it for DAYS because of the indescribable feeling it gave me. Took me at least 5/6 days to listen to the whole song. I cried like a baby when I heard it live. I could absolutely live here. D’Angelo forever, like seriously.
I guess this the hill I’m e-dying on. If Meg was a man, Hiss would have been considered the record to beat in this battle. Misogynoir robs us of so many of the convos we should be having, but anyway… She drew heavy blood that informed and inspired where we at now 🤷🏽♀️
These reaction videos aren’t citing “Hiss” enough for me and I don’t like that.
Not only did Meg clock Canadian Doll’s bbl surgery she spilled about his identity crisis via accents and how he be posted up in other peoples neighborhoods playing dress up!
My mom (Lukumi Yoruba priest by way of Cuba) went to Nigeria & sang praise songs to Obatala. They all said it was an ancient dialect you no longer hear except from the very old. Much of the knowledge was displaced, not lost. Our ancestors were preservative genius.
There have been cases of Nigerians going to Cuba to retrieve info/knowledge that is either scarce or does not exist in Nigeria anymore. Folks need to understand ENTIRE communities were wiped out/kidnapped and trafficked OUT of Africa ALONG WITH the knowledge those people had.

me & my brother Olu singing those ancient songs. I’ve had modern Yoruba people say it’s incorrect, when it’s actually an ancient dialect they’re unfamiliar with. When we exchange instead of assume & judge the connections are so beautiful. We’ve all survived!!!

I mean it makes sense cuz a lot of these orgs (used to??) try and have the most lightest negroes they could find in leadership. They def thought he was a passable Black.
@AnaMardoll
Also see Kadie being raised all her life in a place her and her parents refer to as “Africa.” No country, no specifics, just a generic jungle of a world known as Africa. It’s one of a few TF projects like 30 rock that I can’t watch now.
I’m learning more about the movement towards unionizing for songwriters. Folks are going off re Tiffany Red’s rant- but whether you agree with her or not- she’s apparently put a lot of action & skin into advocacy for musical creators.
‘You write these massive songs and you see the whole world dancing to them and celebrating to them, and you’re broke’ — Grammy-winning songwriter Tiffany Red is exposing the music industry’s unfair compensation system
Not to be graphic but “You a mom.” Is just so funny to me because all that signals is that at one point she busted it wide, dropped it low, and left it in 😂. Why are mothers desexualized when in many cases, sex is the thing that makes you a mom? Why is everyone so puritanical?
Man. What a cool, well-rounded, talented, gracious man. My 10/10 twin. Guyanese, Queens massive. We will all miss you, Casey Benjamin. We’re all shocked and sad right now. This sucks.

1. His eyes are also lighter.
2. There are MANY Black PRs with kinky hair.
3. Y’all equating a looser curl pattern to him “taking care of himself” is Gross & antiblack af.
4. He was Bori in the 1st movie w nappy hair. This change is a feature/texturism disappointment.
@RainbowShops
Too soon. Too far. And, too comfortable, cuz yall brands actually steal from independent designers, and it’s detrimental to them. Keep your shtick to the other big brands…
Stop talking about how people look, & why. Fat, thin, gaunt, tired, whatever. Not only do u never know what people r going through, but it’s just never been any of your goddamn business. People aren’t required to explain or justify y they look the way they look. Even celebrities.
@jemelehill
@poppabugg
No. It just enforces the notion that Black children in particular need a certain kind of “tough love” in order to “better themselves” and operates from an anti-Black, poor-shaming, ahistorical point of view.
@PrinceHAK33M
Sex bars written to impress other men, not to entice, turn on, or even flatter women. Russ said it, and its been kinda jumping outta at me ever since.
@freedamind1
Catholicism is the OG Christianity from which all the other denominations heretically broke off from and grew. How did it get divorced from Christianity for people? Interesting…
RnB is alive & well! Unfortunately, the mainstream doesn’t reflect or promote the vast number of artists making great music across the range of RnB genres. And it’s still the source music for the most popular sounds of today. U just have to seek it out. Radio won’t do it for you.
My 98 yr old grandma got her booster shot today! She’s so cute lol.
And, I’m so grateful that she’s taking Covid seriously! She was like “Look I was born in 1923, and done already took every other shot. Gimme this damn one, too.” 😂 here she is with my eldest in 2020.

Somebody tried to text me an April Fools prank, and I told them American life is too weird and volatile for these games and to get the hell off my phone.
Thinking of Yemaya today & asking her to take us into her bosom. Asking her to use her bigness to absorb our angst, or grief, our depression, our losses and our hopelessness. Asking her to nurture us into health, wealth, peace, and purpose. Thanking her for keeping us this far 🌊

People asking about my Next child while I hold my freshly baked baby in my arms, and try to recover my pelvic floor.
My favorite thing ab this video is watching a parent accept, redirect, correct, & monitor the normal inclinations of a toddler with love, instead of beating or yelling at them for the things they’re neurologically pulled to do. 90’s babies got at least 3 pops for the same shit.
This is my grandmother. Celebrating 100 years, and still the life of the party! MFF olofi, eggun, and to her own life force constantly propelling her forward! 💙💙
It’s so sad how infidelity can just sneak up on an innocent family and ruin their lives like this. Infidelity must truly be stopped. We need to find it and ask questions.
@SupernovaMomma
Right. Now I’m like, 👀. Cuz he real conservative and it don’t seem like a secret. So I’m gone just mind my business before that other shoe drop…
Yo! The whole Black Earth from Brooklyn to Botswana showed they ass when Black Panther came out! That was SO much fun 😂😂!
And we ain’t let not 1 naysayer steal our joy. We haven’t had a good, global, Black time like that in a minute. I’ll never forget it.
Thank you Chadwick!

I just got my acceptance letter for a new fellowship. I am so happy and proud of myself for pushing through everything that was happening that week in order to finish the application! ADHD kids out here winning! STILL!!
About to go on stage and sing. I just became overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to bring music to the world for a living. I’m just so grateful.
