This afternoon AFR worked for nearly 3 hours in freezing conditions to rescue a furry patient named Jack. While on a wintery walk near Michael Emery Trail, Jack slipped and was wedged between two boulders. Amazing work in extreme conditions! @iafflocal244

AFR is currently on scene near Edith and Montano for an outside fire, 20 units are on scene including 5 BCFD apparatus. All occupants are evacuated and no injuries have been reported. The cause is unknown at this time. Please avoid the area if possible due to road closures.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office aircraft, Metro 2, was involved in a crash near Las Vegas, NM. Preliminary information indicates that 1 @BerncoFire employee and 3 @BCSONM personnel were onboard at the time of the crash. There are no known survivors.

Fire crews successfully deployed an extension ladder to rescue a male victim trying to escape from his apartment fire early this morning in SE Abq. The quick actions and preparedness of AFR firefighters were the direct result of this successful rescue. @iafflocal244

Today AFD Station 8, Heavy Technical Rescue Squad 2, Mountain Rescue and APD’s Open Space were dispatched to help a hiker that suffered a leg injury 2 miles up in the foothills. The hiker was successfully rescued by the efforts these brave men and women. @iafflocal244 @ABQPOLICE

Earlier today AFR responded to a residential structure fire in NE Abq. AFR made an aggressive attack on the fire and had it under control in minutes. One resident was self-evacuated and his cat, little sooty paws and all, was saved by Rescue Driver Tiffany Johnson. @iafflocal244

On May 28 at 13:54 AFR, BCFR & Kirtland AFB responded to University south of Rio Bravo for a plane crash. BCFR and AFR’s Batt 1 confirmed a downed aircraft on fire. The pilot was located & transported while fire was extinguished. Scene has been turned over to Kirtland.

AFR Engine 1 was first on scene to a small 1/4 acre bosque fire today. Station 1 crew stopped progress of the fire and the balance of our Wildland Task Force supported mop up duties to ensure there will not be a rekindle. #BosqueFire #AFRStation1 #IfYouSeeSomethingSaySomething

Today Albuquerque Fire Rescue started the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations for our firefighters through a partnership with the @NMDOH . We would like to thank of all of our firefighters for their dedication to serving our community during the pandemic, as well as the NMDOH.

For the past three days AFR in conjunction with APD, BCSO and BCFD have worked to recover the victims from the flood channel. It has been a somber recovery that has reminded all of us the power of nature and the importance of not being in or around arroyos during rain storms.

Fire crews from AFR, BCFD, NM State Forestry, as well as crews from both Oregon and Washington continue to work on hot spots inside the containment area. 100 personnel are on scene strengthening containment lines and clearing fallen trees. @iafflocal244
