NM217 still closed @ MM3 in both directions as fuel from propane truck is safely burned off. Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes for the next 20-36hrs.

Prescribed Winter Pile Burn in the Sulphur Canyon area of the Sandia Ranger District. Smoke will be visible to people near North 14 and NM-536 or North 14 and Frost Road. These burns are in accordance with the prescribed burn plan being utilized. More info below.

Tonight our Crews extinguished a trailer fire on Westbound I-40 near mile marker 147. The freeway was shut down during this incident. One lane is now open and the rest should be by 10:00pm.

We are working a small outside fire due to lightning strike in the area of La Cienega recreation area in cooperation with the @USFS . At this time the fire is being engaged and there maybe smoke visible in the area. Please use caution and yield to emergency vehicles in the area.

The 10K Fire near to top of the Crest was turned over to @Cibola_NF Service and crews worked to get containment and stop any spread. Last info indicates about 70% contained, minimal smoke, 2 helicopters on standby as well as the Mount Taylor Hotshots. Five(5) acres affected.

BCFR alongside AFR and the US Forest Service are actively fighting a fire on Sandia Crest road near 10k trail. The fire is approximately one acre in size and being mitigated at this time. Please stay clear of the area. We will update any information as it becomes available.

Yesterday, Deputy Cornell noticed a school threat on social media for Ernie Pyle Middle School. He rushed to the school to secure the scene of the so-called "water war." Deputy Cornell called in some backup from BCFD. They responded and assisted our Deputy in need. 😁 Huge thank
