Eamon Ryan & his ilk havemade an absolute bollix of Griffith Avenue, one of the most beautiful roads in Dublin, both aesthetically & traffic wise.
From the top of the road to the junction with the Malahide Road, I’ve seen about 5 cyclists use that stupid bastarding cycle lane 🤬
#NEW
According to the City Retail Expert Economist Plan (CREEP), these cars will drive average retail spend of €141,000 if the new City Motorway* is constructed. There will be 1 million extra car trips per week.
*Trinity's Front Arch and Christchurch will need to be demolished

We tweet about:
- bus lane congestion
- drivers blocking pedestrian crossings
- people leaving their cars on heavily trafficked FOOTpaths
- delivery drivers parked in clearways.
Going for a family walk today?
Make sure not to over-walk. Park as close as physically possible to the designated walk place. The last thing you need to do is find somewhere safe to park a whole 100m from the start of your 4km walk.
There's been a tsunami of rail bridge strikes so we are calling for:
- speed limiters on all motor vehicles
- mandatory helmets for drivers, with jail sentences for non-compliance
- all vehicles and bridges to be fully covered in hiviz
#STONEYBATTER
Reports of flash flooding, as the tears of local motorists flow through the streets of Grangegorman, lamenting the loss of a shortcut that saved 1 minute on a 4 minute journey to the shops.
For updates, please follow the crowd.
"I then realised that RTÉ were sending me large payments from the motor industry.
I was then recently informed that I have been a mouthpiece for the motor lobby for many years.
I deeply deeply regret this."
We have had street buskers outside people's homes (whom the Gardaí ultimately did move on, but would never have been there in the first place if the street had not closed to traffic).

TRAFFIC UPDATE
Delays experienced by drivers stuck behind families of cyclists for an average of 6 seconds this morning.
In other news, the M50 Southbound near Firhouse is moving at 10kph.
#CRUMLIN
Pedestrians, particularly those with mobility or visual impairments are advised to avoid the village as Chief Superintendent Wiggum has parked his private vehicle across the whole footpath at a pedestrian crossing. A car park is available 50m away should one be needed.
We've known Ryan Tubridy for 20+ years. A deeply honourable man who tirelessly campaigns for cars, drivers and motorists, there's not a bone in his body. Instead of a pile-on, let's support a good man having a car crash of a week. He's always supported us hard-pressed motorists
#DUBLIN
Don't worry. If you drive like a lunatic, the Fire Brigade lads will make you feel better and less liable by saying it was the weather's fault.
#kildare
#N7
Memo to drivers - the 600 million euro third lane on the N7 opened months ago. We lobbied hard for this & you're all using the two inside lanes. USE IT OR LOSE IT. Future budget will be transferred to public transport projects and we cant have that.
Public transport/bike/walk/scooter just isn't a viable mode of transport!
Our much better solution is something that costs a median annual wage to buy and a third of a median wage to run. And will cost the govt billions in taxpayers money to build/maintain infrastructure for.
#StormBrendan
Please be extra-sympathetic to car drivers today who may need to speed, drive on footpaths and tailgate in order to get to their really important destination ahead of the rest of you plebs.
#DUBLIN
We're hearing reports that South William Street and Drury Street will be closed to traffic.
We will lobby tooth and nail to keep Dublin's streets full of poisonous gases and murderous metal boxes.
Pedestrianisation fans: expect delays and diversions.
"There's just no convenient train for me so I'm forced to drive everywhere."
- Leslie, 38, who sold family home in Rathgar to live in a rural mansion 70km from the nearest town
#DUBLIN
Driver walks free after deliberately using his car to assault a man for "looking at him". Expect delays to justice of up to 5 years of you're only a bloody cyclist. The diversion in place is that cyclists are worth less than animals.
#Ireland
On the hour every hour in conjunction with our national broadcaster and bestie mates
@rtenews
we bring you traffic and travel updates. But only for people in cars. Because drivers, you're worth it & everybody else is unworthy.
#CORK
Long delays on Dublin Street after public transport came out of nowhere and hit this poor truck.
Onlookers said the railway bridge was in the middle of the road and refused to move despite the driver beeping their horn at it.
#SILICONDOCKS
Please be advised that
@DubCityCouncil
workers have deposited wet leaves on the Grand Canal Cycleway. Expect delays and approach this perfectly acceptable situation with caution.
The fucking privilege to be moaning about a minor increase in the cost of drivey vroom vroom fuel.
1) drive less
2) slow down
3) if you live rurally, recognise the privilege you have of living the most subsidised rural lifestyle in Europe
4) if you're urban, take a fucking walk
#DUBLIN
We are the only traffic account on Twitter that will inform you that the "cycle lane" on Ormond Quay is impassable today. Please take care and remember: every lane is a cycle lane.
Drogheda Roads Policing attempted to stop this driver after they were spotted driving without insurance.
The driver refused to stop for Gardaí and a short time later accidentally came off the road and landed in a ditch.
The driver was uninjured and tested positive for cannabis.
#routeplanner

Please be aware that an IT glitch in our route planner software is resulting in motorists en route from Kilkenny to Galway are being diverted through Kildare. A support ticket has been logged with IT.
Phil Hogan spokesman says: “On the occasion that the Commissioner stopped-off briefly in Co Kildare on 17 August, en route from Kilkenny to Galway, he was stopped by a Garda for using his mobile phone while driving.“

Pedestrians: the footpath in front of the Garda station on Harcourt Street is closed as Garda McGrath isn't arsed parking legally.
@GardaTraffic
please confirm when footpath will reopen.
Video is clearly doctored. Listen in to our traffic bulletins where we report that there's CHAOS on the South Circular Road.
We have a text in here from a "D8 Save our Cars" that says "the traffic is so bad I'd be better off walking my kids the 300m to school. Madness!"
TRAFFIC UPDATE:
Queen Street, Dublin 7 will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice due to persistent law-breaking by motorists and in the interests of public safety.
Please plan your journey accordingly and see thread for further details.
We'll be on
#Drivetime
shortly to discuss the tiny amount of road space available for cars in Ireland.
Also, why bus lanes and cycle lanes shouldn't exist because nobody uses them.
City Centre: A large number of taxis are gathering on Conyngham Rd at the moment ahead of a demonstration which is due to begin after 10AM. The inbound bus lane is partially blocked as a result

Some southside traffic hazard news now:
Delays are expected for pedestrians at 2 Sweetmount Avenue where we have reports that this Land Rover blocks the footpath and the road on the regular.
@Dundrum_info
one of yours? Warrents a closer look we think!
A bit unfair on drivers here.
Some our finest professional drivers have to spend some of the driving time on Facebook posting how the cyclists are all in black breaking red lights all the time.
#LIMERICK
Thankfully, the madness has stopped and important cars can use Catherine Street again. Well done to Limerick Gardai for stopping this community enjoying public space.
Disgraceful scenes over on Facebook.
This is the 21st century. We stand with all 2 million car drivers in Ireland and our aim is to make progress towards 4 million car drivers.
TRAFFIC CHAOS in Phibsborough due to pedestrians being treated as equals of their motoring masters.
After years of lobbying against this, they've just gone above our heads and done this. Sickening.
What’s the world coming to ?! - four way red lights to traffic at Doyle’s Corner
#phibsborough
today allowing pedestrians to cross diagonally
#canbedoneafterall
The truth those so-called environmentalists don't want you to know.
Bloom Festival shows what the Phoenix Park really needs: a big tarmac car park.
Absolutely disgraceful that these hard-pressed drivers are forced to park on the grass and overhanging the footpaths.
Metro North has been delayed until 2055.
The Minister for Transport said earlier today "due to the Kilmainham bike lane, the traffic has become to bad for us to bring in the tunneling machine from abroad. The Kilmainham bike lane has cost over 1,000 jobs at this stage."
@LeoVaradkar
We're really looking forward to having one more over congested road in Galway to report on. Thank you for your leadership on this Leo VaradCar.
Yes, we get it. There's a big piece of ice falling off the Antarctic that's going to raise sea levels so much that some coastal cities will go under water by 2030.
But a survey of members shows that 94% of them just love driving all the time and want more freedom! Sorry!
We are retaining maximum vigilance to ensure that the number of road deaths caused by cyclists doesn't exceed zero this year.
Meanwhile motorists have killed almost 200 people since the start of 2023.
Our two new electric bikes in Raheny are being put to use by Gardaí on patrol around Dublin 5.
It's crucial that cyclists continue to work with us by practicing good road safety, and taking personal responsibility for their own safety and that of other road users.
#SaferRoads
The best public transport connecting workers to Tallaght, St James and the Mater hospital is disrupted this morning.
Only a truck driver breaking a red light. Sure he's trying to make a living. Expect delays and no consequences for the driver/company.
Firefighter/Paramedics from Phibsborough and HQ have attended the scene of an RTC involving a truck and
@Luas
at the Benburb/Queen Street junction.
One non-life threatening injury treated.
#StayHomeSaveLives
We agree with Councillor Jim Gildea that there is a lot of propaganda around these transport projects.
As a man employed by the fossil fuel industry for many years, Jim Gildea is a man we can have 100% confidence in to fight for the truth.
This is the current scene over at the farmers protest on the M50 at the Ballymun flyover, it's going to be a long commute home for anyone heading southbound tonight

#BACK2SCHOOL
Advice series for the parent-chauffeurs out there:
#1
You MUST drop your child directly to the school gate, come hell or high footpath.
#2
Children are not waterproof. Raincoats are for smug middle class libs. Driving your kids in the rain is salt-of-the-earthness.
#DUBLIN
The 1 and 104 are held up on Shanard Road this evening. Passengers have been advised to get out and walk.
Drivers are advised not to park like idiots. These drivers are also parked on the footpath so they couldn't get any worse.
👏 for these drivers.
Burgh Quay: Collision involving Luas at Rosie Hackett Bridge. Cycle Lane, bus lane and left traffic lane blocked. All road users please take care on approach.
#Warning
If you're travelling anywhere on the island of Ireland tomorrow, be sure to leave home at least an hour earlier than usual to avoid the traffic tailbacks caused by the Kilmainham bike lane.
RT as a public service.
#CORK
We are terribly sorry to all motorists unable to use Patrick Street today. This is not how cities are meant to be. Normal traffic flows to resume shortly. Please expect delays as the authorities divert these worthless pedestrians to alternative routes.
Finally
@CormacDevlin
has come out and confirmed what we all knew. He is opposing the active travel scheme in Dun Laoghaire, 20million euro from the NTA, for safer streets
Why? To ensure motorists aren't inconvenienced and to pick up a few votes
Pathetic
