It's #BikeWeek . Cycling is on the increase in Ireland. But our infrastructure needs to keep up. Segregated cycle lanes lead to safer & more frequent cycling. Meaning less deaths & less cars. €1 million per day is invested in active travel projects. Let's get more people cycling.

Tivoli Road is the main road connecting three schools. There are a lot of children walking, cycling, scooting. The congestion, like in this photo, increases the risk of a child getting injured or killed. Reducing the volume of cars means reducing the risk of injury or death

Reminds us that 59% of Monkstown-bound traffic is through-traffic (not coming from area or stopping in the area) #DLRLivingStreets #LivingStreets @mcodublin

@glutenfreeMark @ScoilLorcain @dlrcc @robertburns73 @dlrcycling @LorraineHallFG I know 😷 One way and cycle lanes are such a provocative subject in DL. We are open to low traffic neighbourhoods, anything that helps at this stage, just not ramps. We are congested with traffic at low speed. Ramps are not the solution here. We need change

@SocDemsDL Heard this today: "This project will build a vibrant, healthy community where the air is cleaner & we can all connect How people think that their right to drive in a straight line is more important, is actually unbelievable" Keep up the positivity @SocDemsDL

@Marco2kane @dlrcc @JustinMoylan It's been quite the 24h for DLRs objector in chief @CormacDevlin -emails scuppering a current active travel project -whilst on the government committee for climate change -previously tweeted and called for cycle lanes -he has just deleted said tweet

Last weekend on Tivoli Rd Child stopped to let a cyclist by who had to mount the pavement because there was no room on the road The car moved out, only possible as the rd is one way due to current roadworks Continued engagement with @dlrcc @robertburns73 to make rd safe 🙏

Also for our councillor, a great reminder that proposed changes often generate mixed reactions at the start, but people are usually much more united down the line when they see the benefits…

Superb proposal to make our streets safer and more liveable for children and families. The benefits to the community can clearly be seen here - these benefits far outweigh the minor inconvenience of having to drive an extra 5min around the modal filters

@OConnorOisin @HSELive could someone please clarify the email correspondence from your staff member at Tivoli Rd, opposing an active travel scheme? Concerning, and it's full of misinformation

@tomkivlehan @SupportLivingSt @dunlaoghairecra @DunLaoghaireTT This article is really good, explores the myths and reasons why people oppose active travel. Change is hard for some people so it's good to see published benefits

@dan_de_dan_dan @CormacDevlin @fiannafailparty @JustinMoylan @aaroadwash @ciarancannon @CiaranCuffe @davidmcw @dlrcc @dlrcycling @DublinCommuters @dublincycling @duburbans He doesn't care about endangering pedestrians or cyclists. He doesn't care about active travel. All he cares about is trying to grab a few greasy votes from motorists to get him re elected

In response @glutenfreeMark @OneCumberland couldn't add this under the chat, this is a video of a car trying to drive the wrong way down Patrick St which I stopped & had to argue the point that he was going the wrong way They need to be de prioritised, pedestrians made safer

@Ash08976453 @SupportLivingSt @DunLaoghaireTn @dunlaoghairecra @dlrcc You can't win. The pro-car lobby in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown complain when you: 1. Cycle on the road 2. Cycle on the footpath 3. Go too slow 4. Don't wear high vis, on a bright day The posts on FB are so toxic. Safety should always come first. #LivingStreets will make it safer

@dlrcycling @glutenfreeMark @CBCMonkstownpk @dlrcc Exactly! Kids can get knocked off their bikes & get seriously injured Some of our group met with @geraghty_conor @robertburns73 @LorraineHallFG last week. We saw a few photos of cycling injuries 🤢 They have committed to finding a solution for Tivoli & are engaging with us 👍👍
