Dear Bandar Utama residents,
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Abe Lim, and I will be representing MUDA for the upcoming state elections in N36, Bandar Utama.
I am Abe Lim, and I see great opportunity for Bandar Utama to be leaders in the aspects of holistic environmentalism, people-first urban planning and governance. Unfortunately, it isn’t living up to its true potential. That is why... 1/2
In building a sustainable Bandar Utama, we must not overlook the well-being of our furry companions. I firmly believe that animal welfare is an integral part of creating a truly sustainable community.

For those wondering if I travelled 18 countries using a plane or not, no I didn’t! We travelled 18 countries through land and sea — was such an incredible experience 🥺💚 Thank you

Respectfully, this whole thread is just a bunch of excuse that we’ve heard again and again.
“Yes we’re doing it soon”
“But it’s a different ministry”
“How dare u say we’re not doing”
Yal in the same cabinet. Stop whining, start talking to each other, and start implementing.
It's absolutely absurd for a highway concession agreement to be classified under the Official Secrets Act. This agreement has nothing to do with national security whatsoever, and yet it's being kept from the public eye. (1/3)
The people's voice have won! Now it's time to declassify the PJD Link agreement and release the Environmental Impact, Social Impact and Traffic Impact Assesment.

I like him but he’s getting defensively annoying
When we say we want gov to focus on walkways, it’s because we have seen NO implementation.
You can’t blame us for thinking the gov (that YOU, MITI and MOSTI are a part of) keep releasing videos & subsidies promoting EV EV EV 🤦🏻♀️
EV ni kita banyak lihat Miti push. Of course dia akan push, kenderaan persendirian bawah Miti. Tapi tak betul kata Kerajaan tak pentingkan PT. Sebab banyak keputusan dibuat ke arah perbaiki PT.
Akhir sekali, saya harap, baca dulu.

This is how I, Abe Lim, will humanely take care of our strays. As DUN of Bandar Utama.

Bila masa saya tak setuju kita perlu ada walkways ni? Saya sendiri dah bangkit berkali-kali tentang isu PT, pejalan kaki dll. Tak percaya tanya

Bila keputusan dah buat peringkat Kabinet, benda tak akan tiba-tiba muncul macam magic. Perlu masa, duit kena turun.

Tomorrow, I will be making appearances all over Bandar Utama so come out if you're in the area! Locations -->
This morning, I had the opportunity to engage w BU market vendors. They shared their concerns about declining foot traffic, as people tend to opt for convenience over supporting local markets. What may seem convenient, however, has larger implications on our local food system.
Thank you
@WeDontHaveTime
and UNDP for having me to talk about the Climate Relay! I was the first Asian to be selected and 1/4 participants chosen out of 50,000 people globally 🙆🏻♀️
In 2018, 84% of global palm oil production comes from Indonesia and Malaysia.
Palm oil is a very productive crop; as you will see, it produces 36% of the world’s oil, but uses less than 9% of croplands devoted to oil production.
Our campaign journey is down to the final 2 days!! And it's been an absolute joy connecting with BU's diverse community. Thank you all for the conversations and the friendships formed so far — now let's cross the finish line together!! 😆✊🏻

Think climate change doesn’t affect your daily bread and butter? Think again.
It's about your house getting flooded, your groceries getting pricier as crops fail, & your medical bills soaring with diseases from pollution & heatwaves.
Malaysia is under a TRIPLE PLANETARY CRISIS and we do not have a CLIMATE CHANGE ACT.
It’s been a very long time, and time is something that we DON’T have according to the Paris Agreement.

Hello.
Sorry if you feel hurt by my X/Tweets bc you’re obv emotional now by saying that it’s an attack but it’s not. I was just trying to help you to see the point that you missed.
Yes I’m from MUDA but I’m an environmentalist first. And I’m also a PH voter.
Repeating this: The true solution to our environmental & traffic issues isn't more new cars — it's having a reliable public transportation system.
Pushing for more car sales only helps the car industry.
We need to start changing the way we commute and away with car dependency.

Visionaries like Sek San possess the knowledge and skills needed to convert under-utilized spaces into thriving urban farms and Bandar Utama holds immense potential for such a transformation, paving the way for a more sustainable community. 🧵
Imagine a Malaysia where the big decisions aren't just made by a few at the top, but where everyone's voice counts. That's what MUDA is all about - sharing the power and making sure no one gets left behind.🧵
In building a sustainable Bandar Utama, it is crucial to prioritize the people's concerns and aspirations. By listening to the community, we can develop policies and initiatives that truly address their needs while building a thriving economy and safeguarding our environment.
1. The Transport Ministry has permitted airlines to impose extra fees to cover their carbon emissions.
“At this point, it will not be mandatory for all airlines,” says minister Anthony Loke.
Hello. Leave our Orangutans out of your propaganda.
Every crop has its footprint, but singling out palm oil, the MOST efficient oil crop, seems selective.
Did we forget about the vast lands cleared for soy, corn, or canola, often in the global north's backyard?
What a joke
😢Where Orangutans once thrived in lush forests, now there is nothing there and they are left to starve to death and all to profit Palm Oil industry - a product that nobody needs but almost everyone uses because it is in almost every product
Ban Palm Oil now to save Orangutans
Lol why did I even reply. Thought it was a real q.
Seems like you’re attacking for the sake of attacking just because of her affiliation now.
Your intention wasn’t even to have a productive discussion in the first place.
Waste of time.
Thank you to everyone who came to our dialogue on the importance of stray management featuring MUDA candidates alongside esteemed experts Dr. Kartini Farah Rahim, Dr. Salehatul Khuzaimah, and Dr. Natasha Lee. 🧑⚕️💚🐈🐕

Actually, highways only cater to certain segments (car owners) of society but public transport/public mobility amenities benefits the society as a whole.
True, projek belum jalan but the locals have opposed it for 10 years now — initially known as KIDEX and now as PJD Link.
Pagi tadi, saya sempat singgah di Balai Polis Damansara Utama untuk memantau situasi pengundian awal DUN N.36 Bandar Utama — tenang je dan semuanya berjalan lancar.
The PJD Link is DIRECTLY impacting Bukit Bintang Boy’s School & Padang Astaka, incl the destruction of a school building.
And this raises serious environmental issues, air, dust, water, noise pollution, urban heat island effect etc.
Why is the gov so persistent on this??
1. Selangor has decided there needs to be improvements to the alignment of the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) highway.
State exco Izham Hashim said the social impact assessment report revealed that almost 50% of complaints were from Petaling Jaya residents.

Anyone that donates RM1 above or sponsors an ice cream is a funder, and Daim’s friends with PH too but no let’s just focus on MUDA😭
+ WHAT is this Madey story I’ve been hearing. Where is the proof?
Srsly your story is just like the 2012 end of the world conspiracy theory.
Exactly! BTW getting to book a seat on the ETS from KL to Ipoh is like hitting the jackpot.
The trains are always packed, and it's super clear that there’s a MASSIVE demand and more people want it.
Why on earth aren't we upping the number of trains??
That RM6.8b can do wonders for our public transportation. And that part is only a fraction of the money that went to subsidised fuel.
It can buy more than 140 6-car trainsets for KTM, whether they be for Intercity ETS travel or regional Komuter. Reduce the numbers a bit more....
After clearing the air with members of Kinta Valley Watch, I would like to address a recent allegation. The social media credentials were accessible by members, not just me and I was largely inactive. The tweet was posted by a volunteer and I was not informed about it.
The heart of any democracy beats to the rhythm of it’s people’s needs and aspirations.
Let us remember that true leadership is not about imposing fear, it is about inspiring hope. 🧵
Last year during the Selangor state elections, Amirudin was reported to have said that the PH state government had decided to scrap the PJD Link project.
But today 7 months after the elections, we’re talking about the revival of the PJD Link again. 🤦🏻♀️
Sngor govt - you said the PJDLink is CANCELLED. Why still talking about realignment. I agree with
@LimYiWei4MY
. LET IT DIE. Cukuplah. Stop the residents’ 10-year suffering.
Basically, my climate change agenda is about making
#BandarUtama
more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Improving traffic in and around schools, creating safer walkways, and building bike lanes are important parts of this agenda. (1/4)
@_abelim
Very forward thinking, long term initiatives but BU biggest pain points are :
1- traffic in and around schools
2- safer walk ways / bike lanes
3- better parks
Last night's dinner meeting with
@mudamansara
! Truly enjoyed the insightful conversation with these brilliant bunch of people (incl a mini debate on how my name is supposed to be pronounced 🤣)
Singapore to spend extra S$1 BILLION on safer streets and improving first-and last-mile connectivity.
“Widened footpaths; new barrier-free crossings with priority given to pedestrians”
How a country allocates its funds reveals what it truly values. Build cities for communities.
Ppl who are privileged and disconnected go to the spa and saloon on a weekday BTW.
NOT taking time off and be under the sun?! (that would ruin their laser sessions) and be concerned about our country’s wellbeing when it doesn’t even affect their rice bowl.
I would know. Lol.
Only 6% of global intact forest is in Southeast Asia.
Only 2.8% was in Indonesia, and 0.2% in Malaysia.
So, even if all of these countries’ forests were wiped out by palm oil plantations, it would still make very little difference to this metric of global intact forest loss.
If we want to limit our environmental impact, reducing the amount of land we devote to agriculture is key.
The high yields from palm oil means that it, in some sense, ‘spares’ the world additional farmland we would need if we want to meet global oil demand from the alternatives
Yes, KPT oversees the inclusion of internships in academic programs
But, intern rights and welfare delve into employment concerns, governed by labor laws = KSM's domain.
Hence, for intern welfare issues, it's KSM's responsibility, not KPT's.
Kenapa aktivis Intern Bukan Buruh Percuma pergi ke Kementerian Sumber Manusia? 2 daripada tuntutan di bawah Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi.
@ZambryOfficial
1. Universiti yg wajibkan internship utk pelajarnya. 2. Yuran universiti pun bawah KPT. Mereka saja yg boleh kurangkan.
YES. + Building MORE highways does NOT solve congestion.
Underlying this is “induced demand”.
If you build more highways, congestion relief is only temporary before MORE vehicles (bc there’s no other alternative) will occupy the newly-built roads.
Sebab tu lebih baik promote public transport. Bukan suruh orang naik public transport, tapi dengan menyediakan laluan khas, meningkatkan kekerapan.
Our cities are no longer for human. It has become the cities for cars.
Pedestrian dan bicycle lane pun buat asal boleh.
The world devotes more than 300 million hectares for oilcrop production.
Palm oil accounts for ONLY 6% of this land use, which is small when we consider that it produces 36% of the oil.
WTO siding with the EU on palm oil? 🤦🏻♀️
They're hitting our palm oil industry under the guise of environmental protection, yet palm oil is the most efficient oil crop!
This rule is more harmful than helpful, pushing for crops that need more land & might cause MORE deforestation
From each hectare of land, you can produce about 2.9 tonnes of palm oil.
That’s around 4 times higher than alternatives such as sunflower or rapeseed oil (where you get about 0.7 tonnes/hectare); & 10 to 15 times higher than popular alternatives such as coconut or groundnut oil
Ah, river pollution, reminds me, the gov is expected to table the Environment Quality Act 1974 (Amendments 2023) in Dewan Rakyat during the first quarter of this year to deal w water pollution.
28 more days till the end of first quarter. Really hope this goes through
This video was film on mining grounds! Not palm oil 🤦🏻♀️

Please improve the reliability of our public transportation first. Maybe can collaborate with Toyota to look into our first and last mile issue. 🙏

Indonesia and Malaysia account for 63% of global land use for palm. This is low when we consider that it accounts for 84% of production. This is because both countries achieve high yields.
@syahredzan
@transitmalaysia
We did not say you didn’t agree to having walkways, we are just saying collectively as a government(doesn’t matter which) the focus should be on pedestrian walkways not EV.
We are only seeing one of it atm.
That’s it.
Don’t have to go so low.
My focus is now set to work on my personal and career goals that contribute to a sustainable environment. This is not just for me or you but our future generation.

1. Palm Oil has lowest production costs.
2. Its composition means it’s versatile and can be used for food and non-food purposes alike: some oils are not suited for cosmetic uses such as shampoos and detergents.
3. It gets incredibly high yields.
Early fierce heat in ASIA

it ties the highest Tmin in February in Indonesia.
Basically, land temps are averaging 1.8°C now, but with El Niño, we could see them hit 2.25°C.
That's a huge 25% increase overnight from the initial.
And in some places, it'll get even hotter.
For us in Malaysia, this means way more heat, floods & other odd weather patterns.
Honestly, I'm not too fussed about who’s in power now, but please, let's just make choices that'll be good for our kids and their kids.
Folks in PJ have been battling that highway project since KIDEX started, like, 10+ years ago. It's been a real headache.

So that announcement was just to placate PJ folks to win the state election was it
