Would anyone care to share what else this space needs? A road diet? Bus lanes? Or complete pedestrianisation?
Perhaps it'd be fun to see if somoene can hop on Illustrator and draw up a quick street design proposal for the ideal Bukit Bintang..

✅Ban scooters on roads
✅Media scrutiny against cycling
✅Planned widening of roads for more car lanes
✅Construction of more highways
✅Increased car ridership

THIS is the cost.
Forcing people to get to vaccination centres by cars, spending RM100 for a taxi ride, should be a human right violation.

Did you know, that the average monthly expenses from owning and maintaining a car (petrol fee included) adds up to RM2000? If you travel by public transport only it is RM50 with the monthly pass, 2.5% of that of car maintenance. Saving RM23400 is still a dream for many. Comments?
I hate the fact that having a car is a necessity in 🇲🇾
that we need to be in debt to own one, & our wage is too low to comfortably sustain it
that we lack alternatives
the fact that we could’ve revolutionise our transport system, but there’s (very) lack of political willpower

for raising the bus issue in parliament. The government should increase allocation to add more buses. Buses should not be treated just as feeder services to trains. Buses can help a lot to reduce traffic congestion.
It is time also for the public to reflect on such an important corridor being disrupted but we do not know of many alternative ways to get around. We need YOU, the rakyat to advocate for public transport. Please, we need more redundancy (many alternative transport)
Total bus ridership in KL/KV in April was over 5 million, in March the number was nearly 5.8 million. If RapidKL was capable to move this much of people with 55% capacity imagine what they could have done with full capacity.
1. Only 55% of buses under Rapid Bus are actively operating, says the Transport Ministry.
This amounts to 900 out of 1,757 buses.
The Ministry explains that 45% of the total buses are over 10-years-old and need to undergo repair and maintenance works.

This is a common argument against walking/cycling culture adoption in Malaysia, its flawed but also valid.. because of how our built environment is built.
Example: We have so many wide tar roads that reflect back heat, sometimes lacking in trees, that make Malaysia hotter.
We were alerted about the pedestrian route accessibility issue at Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT station. The route is closed off due to construction works (red).
The alternative route (green) is on the road without any barriers to protect pedestrians from any oncoming vehicles.

Jalan kereta ada tak lubang-lubang yang sengaja dibina atas laluan basikal? Atau ada lori besar yang park kat tengah-tengah jalan raya?
Kenapa nak salahkan geng basikal when in the first place infrastruktur dan enforcement basikal pun tak betul, dan pembangunan semua pro-kereta?
The convenience of these lines have been at stake since they were canceled. Especially the Kwasa-Shah Alam-Kemuning, LDP & Mid Valley-Alam Damai, which could eliminate 2 lanes of each highway corridor. The government should explore deleting highways + BRT, NOT building more

Cabinet has instructed 7 PBTs in Klang Valley to identify locations for new bus stops and pedestrian routes to train stations.
Klang Valley needs a proper pedestrian plan similar to Paris. This plan should cover residential & business districts as well.
NEW: Paris has released a new 5-Year Pedestrian Plan!
- 300 million € to be invested by 2026
- 100 new hectares of pedestrian space
- 100 more “streets for kids”
- New focus on 0 pedestrian deaths
#VisionZero
- Longer pedestrian cross times geared to seniors

Sigh ... here we go again.
Why does the government feel that the solution to our public transport needs is to choose the type of vehicle first, then study???
Why not figure out how to make policy and the existing public transport system work properly, first?

We're not ashamed to shame those behind the construction of highways in our cities.

For us Muslim transit advocates, we believe that improving transportation to serve people is an obligation to improve our community's lives; a fardhu kifayah to please God.
This thread is a collection of hadeeths from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on mobility:
(1/3) LRT not only allows futureproofing, but a stable one. Kelana Jaya line was white elephant back then, now full load. Penang works because it will not worry about overcrowding with similar specs. Self-sustainable
Let’s be honest. The only reasonable explanation for consultants to prefer ART (over BRT or LRT/MRT) is lobbyism and corruption.
Everyone working in transit can probably agree with me on this. Anyone who disagree please comment a reason why ART is better than BRT or LRT.

OK but bus e-hailing has:
*High technology costs
*Higher operating cost
*Reduced revenue from passengers.
Best if government focuses on
*Bus lanes
*Bus frequency
*Bus frequency
*Service quality
Hope everyone had a great weekend so far. MRT Putrajaya Line getting busy ridership at 10-minute frequency on a weekend. There were increase in frequency momentarily. Hope this ridership is sustainable in the future when regular revenue applies. Both directions equally packed.
This morning, Transit Malaysia members were here at Kinrara BK5 to protest against the upcoming PJD Link, alongside Bike Commute KL and residents in Petaling Jaya.
We support this protest not only because of the threat of congestion, but also to prevent a car-centric future.
This morning, a Scomi Sutra 4-car train got on fire on the KL Monorail.
Last year Q3, the Scomi Sutra trains started operating again after 2 years of non-operation; deal between Prasarana & Scomi.
May 12 2017, RapidKL stopped operating the Sutra trains due to safety issues.
RapidKL is going forward with bus closures tomorrow, despite multiple protests by bus users.
This is a testament to our public transportation. To prioritising big infra over functional solutions. A few rail lines, over hundreds of kms of bus routes. Rich over poor.
Recently, Transportation Minister said the cabinet has approved the RM1 billion KL Sentral redevelopment project by Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). If you are a regular user of KL Sentral, please tell us what improvements it needed.
Let's be brutally honest...in KL we have given up on public transport.
Yes, there are elevated and underground trains and free buses.
But there is no bus lane network, bus service is unreliable and unpredictable & last mile connectivity is weak.
We try so we can say we did.
A city that gives up on transit gives up on its future growth. Congestion pricing in NYC can do more than address congestion—it can open the city’s streets to better transportation choices and new economic prospects.

The point of bicycle racks on buses isn't to bicycle from Wangsa Maju to KLCC (strawman). The point is to bicycle from home in Wangsa Maju to the bus, then from the bus to KLCC.
The rest is projection bias (I won't therefore no one will).
All responses are welcome though.
How many of you will ride a bicycle to work in our country? Nobody. Because we want to reach our office with hair nicely done and no BO. Will you ride a bicycle from home in Wangsa Maju to office in KLCC eh admin? Quote me your answer.

The mall rush always happens at 10pm. This would have been a good opportunity to utilise public transport for many, but at present, many still chose cars to start their journey. What are the turn offs of public transport that made you drive to malls?
When people are forced to use a car to go shopping, this is what happens.
Car-centric infrastructure causes unnecessary traffic. If malls were within walking distance, with better access to public transport, we wouldn't have such issues.
Work from home maybe a solution for car congestion, but in the long run education is also important to make use of the sufficiently efficient public transport routes we have.

Great job on documenting your public transport journey. For those who are able to do this sort of journey, this can set an example. We really need better public transport here.
Speaking of frequency, what happened to MRT Kajang Line with its peak frequency? Many railfans have reported almost half of trainsets not seen for months (Sep 2021).
@MRTMalaysia
should have some form of transparency or insight made public. Rail maintenance just as important.
While it's not related to what OP wants to show, we're saddened by the 3rd idea suggested; to improve road planning... by building more double decker highways and increase width of roads.

Ridership at 10+pm towards Kajang from Bukit Bintang just now. There is potential for night demand. Frequency was every 8 minutes, great improvement. For efficiency yet good frequency, some trains can turn back earlier at stations such as Bukit Dukung. Retweet, jom naik MRT!
Speaking of cafe culture, how many well known or delicious food from cafes are near bus interchanges or rail stations? Comment your favourite below this thread. E.g.: Kenny Hills Bakers near TTDI MRT, Jam & Kaya Cafe near Taman Jaya LRT, Today’s by Dalton Cafe near Pudu LRT…
Imagine having the cafes of TTDI right in front of the MRT station, how cool that could’ve been. You would’ve attracted people from across the city to the area, increasing its overall vibrancy.
But of course, folks living in the bubble wouldn’t love to see that.
Hello YB. We would like to discuss further a few issues related to public transportation. It would be greatly appreciated if we could do a meeting. Thank you for covering the Putrajaya Line!

Baki penambahbaikan sedang diusahakan.
OK tapi e-hailing untuk bas ada:
*Banyak kos untuk teknologi
*lebih kos untuk beroperasi
*kurang 'revenue' dari penumpang
Terbaik kalau karajaan fokus:
*Laluan bas
*Frekuensi bas
*'connectivity' rangkaian
*Servis berkualiti
Due to budget cutting (you know who), MRT Corp is planning to write off an underground link between Ampang Park LRT and the new MRT, instead suggesting passengers to ride an escalator up and then go down, wasting a few precious minutes of tens ot thousands of commuters.
