A note to comrades elsewhere in the UK that fawn over the SNP.
Today, the SNP teamed-up with the Tories to block support for tenants, block collective bargaining in private social care, and to vote against further support for women seeking contraception.
Reality.
Branson likes to present himself and Virgin as being the cuddly face of capitalism.
Let’s get this straight - he’s a billionaire union-buster who’s sued the NHS, and is now looking for a £6.5bn handout from the government whilst not paying his employees for 8 weeks.
Classy.
BREAKING: Virgin Atlantic plans to cut about 80% of flights each day by the 26th of March, grounding 75% of planes by then. They are also asking staff to take 8 weeks of unpaid leave during the next three months.

This is an unprecedented act of vindictiveness that comes borne of weakness, not strength.
You don’t need to support Corbyn to know this is outrageous.
Speak up.
Yesterday I announced that I could not vote for any cuts budget being proposed for the city that I represent. I have had enough, this city has had enough and we owe it to the people we represent to put up a fight.
The Home Office needs reminded every now and again that Glasgow welcomes refugees.
We came together today in solidarity, and proved that it works.
Well done
@AamerAnwar
in negotiating it, and to everyone who stood by their neighbours.
Saddened to hear of incidents of some parents using free school meals vouchers for alcohol & non food products despite clear restrictions & also threatening supermarket staff.
Am speaking to all supermarkets on what more can be done to protect staff and make sure kids get food.
SNP literally just voted through the biggest cuts to Glasgow City Council in its history, and this is the chat.
I don’t what they’re stronger for, but it’s not Glasgow.
Looks like the Labour party in Glasgow have decided they don't need to show up to Glasgow's city budget.
It's no wonder the people of Glasgow no longer trust them to run our city - an absolute dereliction of their duty as councillors.
Proud to call
@LabourRichard
a friend and comrade - solidarity with him today and into the future.
Those looking to depose him aren’t fit to lace his boots.
2 years ago I ran for deputy leader of the Scottish Labour Party.
Many of us predicted the present situation and argued that Labour needed to define a mandate for a ref, and what to do about it.
If we didn’t deal with it then, we’d be forced into it later.
It’s now “later”.

Unable or unwilling to give an honest answer to a straight question on the drug death crisis we face.

A speaker that can be so easily turned over cannot stay in post.
Someone who’s willing to threaten a speaker in such a way shouldn’t be either.
There’s a pattern of behaviour here, you’ve been warned.
3 years ago, 72 people died and a community was devastated by a fire fuelled by profiteering and negligence.
Not one person has been charged.
The language of priorities.

Community response in the southside of Glasgow stopping a Home Office dawn raid right now. A family inside the van. An activist is under the van to stop them moving
The SNP can’t find £4m to end the benefit cap in Scotland and can’t find that extra £5 a child for child benefit.
Today they announced £150m of cash to inflate house prices.
The language of priorities indeed.
This afternoon I met with 13 students from the University of Stirling who have been suspended for occupying a building in support of the UCU strikes last year. It is unacceptable how these students have been treated. We should be behind them every step of the way ✊

No-one is illegal.
Though sometimes I wish this scumbag was.
People are dead and injured, and this is the first thing that pops into what passes for his brain.
Horrible tragedy in a Glasgow Hotel housing illegal immigrants.
All over the UK, hotels are filling up with young men who are coming across the Channel every day.
It is a massive risk to our wellbeing — yet the government does nothing.

That’s some take.
The General Secretary of the Scottish Labour Party is a Corbynista, the party's head of comms used to work for the Morning Star and new spinner is an ex John McDonnell staffer. Make no mistake, the shitfest that Scottish Labour now finds itself in, is very Corbyn Labour.
The co-ordinated attacks on
@LabourRichard
from his own side are selfish and literally self-defeating.
The thing about co-ordinated attacks, is that someone is doing the co-ordinating.
Rooting out the culprits is a job for the deputy leader, don’t you think

While deaths in care homes are deeply troubling for all of us, this is not unique to Scotland.
A study by the London School of Economics found that Covid related deaths in English care homes are likely to be severely underestimated.

Very sad to lose a friend and comrade this morning.
Maria Fyfe was an inspiration to so many - a socialist, feminist, and a tireless worker for a better world.
It’s just staggering that that the Labour “leadership” figures are now asking for humanitarian aid to be permitted through a siege they supported a few days ago in the full knowledge it would spark a humanitarian crisis.
“Pathetic” doesn’t really do it justice.
Attlee helped depose an incompetent PM during a world war, but demanding the resignation of an incompetent Health Sec found to have acted illegally is somehow beyond the pale during a public health emergency.
This is absurd.
That's me just arrived down in Brighton for Labour Party conference.
Looking forward to a week of bold socialist policies to take us into a General Election! ☀

Unhelpful language here from

report sums up the party in Scotland - all evidence points to the need to win working-class SNP voters back, big wigs chase Tories anyway.
Absolutely crazy.
As the Scottish Leaders’ debate was taking place tonight, patients at the Southern General were waiting 2.5hrs to get out of ambulances.
It’s now down to 1 hour to get out of the ambulance and 8 hours to get a bed.
This is totally unacceptable.

Covid, a drugs death crisis, countless thousand living in precarity unable to feed their families - while for some the priority is to feed the gutter press.
Time to get real.
Great to have Jeremy Corbyn over at the office this morning, talking about how a Labour government will transform the fortunes of people across Glasgow South West.
More pics to follow!
I can’t emphasise enough how farcical this prosecution was.
This took nearly 2 years and 3 cancelled starts to bring to trial, wasting countless hours of court time, police time, jurors’ time, and for what?
It’s hard not to conclude this was political.
This is the same

Risible.

Literally not credible.
In the rush to smear this great fellow journalist, they only undermine further the trade itself.
The changed Labour Party I lead knows that our nation’s defence must always come first.
That's why today I was the first Labour leader in over 30 years to see Britain’s nuclear submarines being built in Barrow-in-Furness.
Labour backs Barrow, and we back our nuclear deterrent.
Not for the first time, I can’t help but wonder what planet this guy is on.
Around 80% of council funding is controlled by the parliament he’s sat on for the past 9 years - and every year he’s voted to cut his city’s budget.
@rebel_debt_dude
I think the Council feels that money for communities should go into communities rather than to advice services. If CABx are to get more money, other community organisations will have to be cut.
It’s fitting that the union that has backed me all my working life has delivered the nomination that puts me on the ballot paper for Scottish Labour Deputy Leader. Our Party needs a fresh future and I intend to help deliver just that.

A commitment to put Labour values into action.
We know private schools perpetuate inequality.
Those defending them on grounds of “choice” forget the overwhelming majority for whom these schools add no choice at all.

Delighted at this - five years ago the Crown Office and Police were consulted about doing this in Glasgow.

It’s not even as if a 2 year rent freeze is a remotely radical step.
The Scottish Government and Parliament itself has been consistently pathetic on this.
Some numbers on private sector renters in Scotland from JRF poll:
- 45% have seen a drop in income
- 71% have cut back on spending
- 58% borrowed or used up savings
- 42% worried about ability to pay rent
Explain to me again why
@ScotParl
voted against a 2 year rent freeze?
