It should be illegal to fire anyone for having alternative sources of income, especially contracted workers. There is nothing illegal or immoral about having an Only Fans, especially if companies aren't paying writers enough to get by in today's economy.
Wicked Director Jon M. Chu called Ariana Grande "an aficionado on Wicked" during the films creation.
Grande would say, "that's Bible, you can't remove that line" when trying to decide which content to keep or omit
My one issue with Lady Bird is that they do a fall musical and then a spring play??? Is that normal in California?? Growing up it was always the fall play and spring musical??
A film adaptation of the off-Broadway musical ‘HEATHERS’ is officially in the works at 20th Century Fox with Diablo Cody set to write the script.
Rachel Zegler is in talks to star in the film.

Calling The M*sic M*n a “valentine to America” is such a sick burn considering the show is about a con man taking advantage of the anxieties of a small town and selling them promises that never arrive.
STOP hating on last season’s broadway musicals!
HADESTOWN was SENSATIONAL
THE PROM was HILARIOUS
BE MORE CHILL was FUN
BEETLEJUICE was SCARY
TOOTSIE
OKLAHOMA! was SEXY
AINT TO PROUD was HISTORIC
Do musical theatre composers know that the man does not need to sing? They can just be little props for the women or like hot background! You don’t have to give them boring ballads that slow the show down!
Grooming is a HUGE problem in the theatre, not just professional. It trickles down all the way to community theaters. I quit two different theatre programs before I was 18 because of the grooming I witnessed and the games I was forced to play to please those in power.
Robin de Jesus deserves a nomination from every legit awards committee for his work in Tick Tick Boom and the fact that they aren’t campaigning for him as much as Andrew is criminal (but also totally on brand for the praise to go to the straight actor exploring queer narratives).
I absolutely understand the reasons behind their decision, but for the Tony Awards to ask to be excused from being affected by a historic countrywide strike is peak Broadway.
The not so funny thing about this is the tonys had a great chance to test out gender neutral awards this year since there are less competitors but instead decided to keep the binary system even if it meant only nominating one actor for an award.
Thinkin about a few years ago when a Broadway producer asked me what kinds of plays I liked and I responded “If the title is in lower case I know I’m gonna love it.”
Theater companies out here with messaging like “We’re back better than ever!” Meanwhile half of their staff still on furlough and their artistic and education budgets have been cut in half.
I’m simply begging graphic designers to include the playwrights name in the show art. It’s literally in the contract and so many theater companies fall short. How do they continue to get away with it?
SO BASICALLY I WORK WITH PLAYWRIGHTS TO DEVELOP AND PRODUCE FOR NEW WORK BUT THERES ALSO A LOT OF ADVOCACY INVOLVED. THERE USED TO BE FULL TIME JOBS FOR DRAMATURGS BUT THEYVE ALMOST BEEN ENTIRELY WIPED OUT SO IM JUST FREELANCING RIGHT NOW TILL I FIGURE OUT WHATS NEXT
I’m glad theatre companies are streaming their work but is it just me or are they not properly advertising streaming windows?? I feel like I always find out with a day or two left!
The only good thing about working in theatre is that the industry is about 50 years behind everyone else so I won’t have to worry about AI taking my job in my lifetime.

I just think we need to stop pretending that sites like Playbill and Broadway World are publishing any kind of journalism or critique. Their job is not to report on the injustices of the Broadway industrial complex, their job is to sell tickets.
I’m already exhausted and have no interest in weighing in but the 100/75% discourse is just a distraction from the fact that the creative team and the production itself is perpetuating harm and should be held accountable and you’re all falling for it
Shout out to all the theatre workers doing like 3 to 10 peoples jobs this week as 2/3 of the staff is out with covid. This is a reminder that you’re being exploited and should absolutely demand more money for your extra labor!
