I started thinking more about dynamic stretch thanks to @_rachelbalkovec @slugfest2019 . I came up with this routine with thoughts from @Will_Lucas3 @jaegersports @CoachSheets3 . This was yesterday’s practice before the first game of the year. Barefoot training is the way to go!

@JasonOchart I participated in the 2016 Pecos league “HR Derby” at Santa Fe. Was told we had to provide our own balls and so I used my own personal bucket of balls. I made it to the semi-finals and hit 14 HR’s.

1st day of practice and the guys were ready to learn! Warming up before our first swing will be done every session. This is important so that our first swing is as good as our last. We then progressed in to a PVC pipe progression I learned from @DLawson_Yankees and @jeffmalbert

Self promotion is sickening. Players and parents. I don’t know of one player who has received a scholarship offer from a tweet. Tagging schools and coaches is even more sickening. I am a true believer that in 2021 if you can play, they’ll find you. Period.

Was planning on doing this for hitting! I’ve used dotted baseballs in past but I feel like this is the way to start. Too many players guess and give up if the dots are too small. Make it simple. Green = 3-0 Hack Red = Take Blue = Two strike count

Does writing an in-season program program apply to the entire team? I don’t think so. Here’s a video of @pdog20bb getting after it with a front squat at 315x3. Huge PR. He set a goal and got it. It’s no shocker that it’s translating to the field.

Here’s another idea for some quarantine hitting! My biggest problem with the tee is not seeing ball flight. It’s easy to start taking mindless hacks while hitting into a net. Here all you need is a few wiffle balls, a hill and a tee. Keep thinking outside the box ! @CoachSheets3

Saw an awesome drill today from @FullerHitting . Got right on it to see what cues I would need to give to athletes while learning the motion. These videos are about 20 min apart and I made some adjustments. I really like this and it will be utilized soon. Thanks for posting Ryan!

I love the concern for athletes getting an extra year eligibility on here. It could make a difference for some, but not all. No one wants the 5 year plan. Seniors are graduating and can’t put their lives on hold. If you are numb right now, it’s ok. No one knows how to react.

Here’s a great swing change from one of our guys @MCbaseballScots . @smith_marshall2 had a bat speed in the high 60’s before changing his stance up. He’s now in the mid 70’s from just standing taller and having better intent. Proud of the work he put in to make this happen!

What percentage of college baseball players who start at 4 year school- will end up playing all 4 years in that program? With the system as is. Tradition and loyalty are becoming scarce. Doesn’t mean that it’s not important. I would say that’s it more important than ever.

I’ve been seeing this quote circulate. “Uncoachable kids become unemployable adults.” As a coach, it is our job to teach them HOW to be coached. Stop giving up when they don’t listen. Find out who they are and why. Be the person that makes them an employable adult.

Here’s a quick example of how we use @Blast_Bsbl to inform kids of WHY? I always preach to train at game speed as much as possible. I made these charts to show why this is the case. It is often that many key metrics go down with velocity.

I’ve always felt this way but I think more people are figuring it out during this time period. Phone calls/small group meetings > certifications/presentations. It frustrates me when I feel as if I’m being talked at. Find a group of friends/coaches that constantly push you!

Certifications mean little to me now. This one is different. It was a difficult portion of my life. I had tons of self doubt. I pushed through and did what was needed back in 2019 and it helped me get to where I wanted to be. It takes what it takes. Do the work.

Players are always asking to see video of their swing in games. @DrivelineBB TRAQ is going to be a game changer for our program for this sole reason. The ability get massive amounts of video, along with EVERYTHING in their player development, has never been easier.

A big emphasis for us this fall was improving our approach angle. The majority of our team was letting the ball get too deep and swinging down. Using @diamondkinetics I was able to track our approach angle from the beginning to the end of the season.
