Our Goals :
-Encourage Young Unionist Partcipation
-Foster engagement with Unionist parties
-Connect Unionist Groups
-Create an open space for Young Unionist voices
To make something abundantly clear:
The UYN condemns, unequivocally, both the heinous stabbing and subsequent rioting and violence seen in Dublin this week.
We have no patience with those who seek to subvert democratic means of change and peaceful protest. More to follow.
The UYN were grateful to attend the launch of the
@duponline
’s Let Kids Be Kids campaign. As young people ourselves, we take a keen interest in the standard of RSE in Northern Irish schools.
@JBuckleyMLA
.
We are aware of the provocative remarks made by a former member of the UYN recently.
These comments are far removed from the values of our organisation and we do not endorse them.
The individual has since left the UYN.
We are no longer affiliated with them.
We had a productive meeting with
@deborah_cheryl
, the
@duponline
Spokesperson for young people, at Stormont. We discussed our goals for the group and its future events.
The Chanting of “Up the RA” at the Feile , only serves to perpetuate the hate and abuse that young Unionists receive, further increasing the stigma. This creates a toxic-majoritarian attitude , especially towards young Unionists attempting to voice their opinion.
The UYN Executive had the pleasure of meeting with the
@duponline
Belfast City Council Group at Belfast City Hall.
We discussed the future of young people within unionism and the support we can give them. A very productive meeting.
UYN Representatives, Jack and Matthew, were grateful to spend time with our friends
@TogetherUKFound
and
@ArleneFosterUK
.
Positive discussions around young people, the Union and Northern Ireland. We look forward to working together with TGUKF in the future
The UYN is pleased to announce the addition of Ellie Higginson to our Executive team as Women’s Officer!
Ellie will help promote the important cause of enhancing the role of young women in Unionism and wider politics.

When we, as Unionists, look inward we are often accused of being sectarian. We simply intend to develop Unionism and its youth positively for the future.
We want to help our Future leaders of Unionism to succeed and to deliver better for Northern Ireland.
Recently, members of the UYN visited the Site of the Battle of the Boyne, in Drogheda.
Whilst there, they spoke with
@RTERadio1
about the historical significance of the events that took place, and the contemporary importance of this for both Orangeism and Unionism.
Last Night members of the UYN attended a Local Government Information Night organised by
@RoyCrawford007
at Enniskillen Town Hall.
It allowed young people to get a sense of how our local council works.
In London, Jack and Matthew were pleased to meet with Deputy Chairman of the European Research Group,
@DavidJonesMP
.
We expressed concerns of young unionists regarding the Sea Border, and discussed the importance of strengthening relations with representatives across the UK.
Yesterday, members of the UYN team were pleased to engage with European Channel
@ARTEfr
to discuss our aspirations for the future of NI.
We reflected on peace and progress within NI, as well as discussing the shared benefits and importance of the Union.
🚨A new study suggests that a united Ireland would be unaffordable.
🚨"An immediate, major reduction in… living standards" and "huge financial pressure" for those in the Republic.
🚨 The Union provides long-term stability, benefitting all young people.
#StrongerTogether
The initial cost of a united Ireland would be at least €8bn (£6.86bn) a year rising to potentially €20bn (£17.15bn) a year, a new study from Dublin think tank

The
@uuponline
ABC Team met with the Chair
@JayBasra2
and Women's Officer
@chelseaa_munn
A very insightful meeting , we discussed Increasing Young Unionist Participation , Women's involvement in Politics and what UUP ABC can do to help in Building Unionism's Future.
Our secretary, Jack, was pleased to meet with Andrew, CEO of
@TogetherUKFound
They discussed the importance of encouraging young people in NI to take an active role in politics.
We look forward to working together in the future!
One of our Women’s Officers,
@RachMcCaughey
, participated in a discussion on
@BBCevex
this past week.
She did well in representing the concerns that many Unionists have concerning the WF, a debilitating health service and proper funding for NI from the UKG.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of another member to the UYN executive.
@rachelmccaughey
has been a great addition to the UYN team and has been working tirelessly as one of our women’s officers.
She will help grow the voice of young unionism and women in politics
The UYN had the pleasure of joining a tour at Belfast City Hall on Monday, alongside members of
@qub_dua
We appreciate the opportunity and extend our thanks to all involved!🙌🏻
Our thoughts at the UYN are with
His Majesty the King and the rest of
his family at this difficult time.
Cancer is a relentless illness which
many of us have felt the impact of
within our own families and friends.
We wish him a speedy recovery and
good luck with his treatment.
@JayBasra2
, a member of our Executive Team, spoke on BBC Radio Ulster yesterday about the necessity of motivating young Unionists to actively engage in politics by providing stable governance and incentive to contribute to Northern Ireland’s society.
To be clear, the UYN has no official position on RSE. Members are entitled to their own views and will express them accordingly. This event has actually sparked a respectful debate within the group, strengthening understanding of diverging opinions within Unionism.
.
@JayBasra2
and
@realZacTC
met with
@ErvineLinda
today to engage in a discussion about her work in relation to Unionist engagement. We appreciate this opportunity for our opinions and concerns to be expressed and respected.
Members of the UYN were delighted to have met with
@RobbieButlerMLA
on Tuesday.
We broadly welcome and sincerely appreciate the work Robbie does for young people. It was great to hear his insight on young people's role in the future of the Union and how we can be part of it.
History is important to the cultural identity of many Unionists across Northern Ireland, and it’s vital that we ensure the younger generation are educated on this.

This is a heartening article that shows Unionist culture and heritage is thriving, and will continue to do so for many years!
“There’s a real opportunity for children to grow and learn skills, build confidence and become leaders themselves within their organisations.”

“This nonsense that we are an old population and dying out, I do not fathom that at all.”
There are green shoots of Orange continuing to sprout around Northern Ireland, with the ranks of the Junior Orange welcoming three new lodges this year.
