in case you don't understand why I'm asking this question, a quick thread about buyer vs seller rights as it pertains to art/photography. disclaimer, not a lawyer yet, don't rely on this info, plus I could be completely wrong about this so who knows. 🧵

Do you have functionality built for creators to control what type of license they're granting NFT holders? e.g., if buyers want to print their NFT, does the Creator Core Contract grant that/is that an option for creators to select? Esp w/ all the OE's (cont. below)

WHAT. honestly now it all makes sense. He didn't place highly iirc, but if I got a two week vacation from four kids to Paris you better bet I'm living it up eating what makes me happy
Y'know I really didn't need my firm's bar compliance team to be the ones to tell me results are out today. I'm checking after work, I can't think about this now.
In my life, I've taken the LSAT, MCAT, SAT, not to mention all the standardized testing I had to do in middle/high school. I was nervous for many but none of them physically made me ill.
But the Bar. Yesterday I spent an hour talking to my mom trying not to cry out of stress. /?
Law school is often a solitary endeavor. I'm never leaving this site because when I failed the first time,
#lawtwitter
picked me up off my feet, dusted me off, and gave me so much unconditional support that powered me to the second. So thank you to everyone.
And abolish the bar.
something that I've always admired about
@PeteButtigieg
is his masterful ability to come into a conversation and know what his message is.
It's an underrated skill but knowing what's worth engaging and what isn't is so important.
"Who are you trying to help? Who are you trying to make better off?"

If you're a mentor to any law students or pre-law students and they're interested in biglaw, you have a responsibility to make sure they understand what they're getting into. It's not just long hours. It's being available to work holidays. It's bringing your laptop everywhere. 1/
With so much information available out there these days, I do think that pre-laws know exactly what they’re getting into. But over time many of them will learn more about themselves and what they want out of their career. And it’s not practicing law.
As it turns out you can graduate with honors, land a job at a great firm, have family and friends who love and support you, and still fail the bar on your first try by two points. 264!?
Which is all just to say, to anyone else in that 34%, you've got a friend in me.

69% of API voters support AA. Those plaintiffs don't represent me or Asian America any more than Clarence Thomas represents Black Americans.
All of which is to say it is tragic that these kids got used like this and if I were their auntie I'd be looking for a slipper.
right now i know 3 things:
1. I'll be a great lawyer.
2. the bar doesn't define me.
3. the bar is my everest and just like the actual mountain, it might kill me.
because over this summer, they could SEE bar prep changing my mental and physical health.
And I love you all for it.
Whether or not I passed, incoming

this is what they mean by getting yourself a support network, you never need it until you NEED it. /4
And that was after day 1 of a 2-day exam where I was so anxious that I got nauseous during the lunch break and my hands were shaking during the essay.
I share this because I was one of the few who genuinely LOVED law school. I am so proud of how I did in law school. /2
But the only reason I wasn't WORSE off yesterday and today was because EVERY time I posted here about being stressed, or told my friends (normals or law), someone reached out. To buy me coffee, to give me messages of encouragement.
Friends were spontaneously checking in on me,/3
Biglaw really be like "oh have a happy labor day weekend! Just rememeber what it means, a weekend of day laboring because this deal must must must be done by Tuesday!"
Like I really hope this place doesn't go away because
#lawtwitter
is awesome and makes me full of hope, even if the Supreme Court doesn't.
So now I'm going to give myself a well-earned break.
day 1 of the bar tomorrow. whatever it takes. last time i was definitely hurt by my own bad mental thoughts throughout the exam, so i spent time this weekend working on box breathing to ease the anxious "wake up after 3 hours" sleep.
let's get it. be confident. i can do this.
As it turns out, being a sexy corporate lawyer also involves a lot of canceling plans at the last minute so you can be at your computer, ready to turn comments at 11pm on a Friday.
What a week! “Buttigieg plowed through more than 30 TV, radio, and TikTok appearances over the course of 96 hours in Chicago, along with 30 speeches to constituent groups (veterans, mayors, students), 12 sets of remarks to delegation breakfasts, dozens of scheduled and
Hey for no reason whatsoever, this is your regular reminder that if you're taking the train from Boston to DC, you don't have an expectation of privacy so uh maybe don't loudly talk about your engineering contracts on the train 😂 and definitely not in the Cafe car?

69% of AAPI voters support affirmative action. Those being used in this case do not represent Asian Americans any more than Clarence Thomas represents Black Americans.
@PaulMSherman
This... Is exactly the kind of trivial, niche minutiae that someday I'm going to use while remembering this tweet, and everyone around me is going to be like "why and how in the bloody hell do you know that." And then I'm going to have to explain what osmium is.
@imillhiser
As a younger millennial (born 94) it's not stability; it's more that I learned how much more complicated the world is. Things I thought were simple are actually really hard. But R has no meaningful policy position other than "D is the devil." And I still care about social issues.

so you acknowledge that simply being illegal in California is not enough to stop the proliferation of these weapons, and thus we should work to enact nationwide bans on these types of weapons. right? that's where this ends?
But like actually. If you're a law student stressing about the bar, just know that in my experience, anyone worth listening to has 150% told me that the Bar doesn't define you. Being a good lawyer isn't about memorizing endless piles of rules.

I'm sorry but he's CANADIAN!?!?!? He's not even Asian AMERICAN?!
I don't know what's more ridiculous, that he's from Canada or that Ed Blum couldn't find a single Asian kid in America whose mother was so upset her little baby didn't get into Harvard to sign up for this lawsuit.

Idk, SATs famously require reading comprehension skills, and one candidate can't even be relied on to read a position brief instead requiring his staff to write in all caps stuff like "CHINA BAD" on his speeches...

Oh it weighs on him does it now. The poor guy, heavy is the head that wears the ponzi.
Fantastic reporting, I still can't believe you got access.
My 1L classes were foundational not just for the content of the law, but the content of the character that my professors taught. I have very specific memories where my 1L professors pushed me to think about not just what the law *is*, but what it *ought* to be. I love this clip.
Sir, this is a 1L contracts class…

I for one would be extremely interested to hear Ben Shapiro explain to me more about the distinction between boy pants and girl pants. I want him to explain what's a boot cut versus a straight cut.

A lot of law is necessarily complicated but a lot of law is unnecessarily so, and only serves to gatekeep people who get scared off by "unauthorized practice of law"

My law school is offering a "Crypto & Digital Assets Regulation" seminar this semester. Kind of excited actually. Both Profs are Dir. of Enforcement at NYSE. What should I ask them?
@leftfemme
nah law school fully convinced me of the intellectual dishonesty of conservative lawyers and the structural advantage that favors them because "just do what the plain language says" is a really seductive way to teach law to nonlegal ppl. came out way more left than when I went in
@jaywillis
The funniest part for me is that this really exposes how shallow the fedsoc bench must be, if someone with this thin a skin gets the nod of support. Like even if I disagree with them, I'd hope they can take a disagreement respectfully or engage intellectually. Apparently not.
It's so interesting that with so many team narratives focused on "winningness," that lackluster International Success ranks 7th most important to viewers, behind Interesting Storylines (1st), Likeable/interesting players (2nd), and Teams Holding Viewer Interest (3rd) /1

Gin and tonic looks indistinguishable from seltzer water. if you order a g&t for the first drink and hold a seltzer the rest of the night, no one's going to look at you sidewise and you can avoid any alcohol you don't want by holding up your "drink."

You'll never believe this but there's a bunch of white dudes in the comments trying to explain to a Taiwanese American politician who previously represented Manhattan Chinatown in the NY State Assembly why Pelosis statements... Weren't racist.
Oh wait. Nvm totally believable.
I am just now hearing about Nancy Pelosi’s xenophobic anti-Asian comments and telling people to “Go back to China, where you come from.” First, shook. Second, she is the Rep from California….San Francisco, California. Aka the part of the state with the largest aapi population….

It's really remarkable that time after time they've shown no knowledge of basic procedure (thinking about every time MTG makes an improper point of order). Like really no one thought to tell an intern to read the rules and write a one-pager on basic parliamentary procedure?

That's not to say it's not incredibly rewarding, both financially and work-satisfaction wise. But there's a reason a lot of lawyers burn out and why there's high rates of substance/alcohol abuse, and I've only been doing this 2 months but I can totally see some 25year old 2/

I must have missed that passage in the Bible that said "thou shalt weild an ar-15" like from what natural right could possibly give rise to the second amendment?
Hi! *waves hands* two time attempter here. No one please tell my firm that I can't do legal analysis, I was hoping to hide that fact from them for at least the first year, just collect my paychecks and eat the free food in the office 😊

Don't have my bar card yet but as a first year it's mostly writing "Will do" in an email, accidentally ccing more people than necessary, and then spending too much time going "well I have no idea what's going on here...."
@JohnKasich
So like Hakeem Jeffries? The chosen successor to Nancy Pelosi, under whose leadership we passed bills that required votes from both sides, got congress doing things for the American people and marginalized the extremes?
Thanks for everyone's advice. My cousin came back downstairs last night from putting his daughter to bed and was like "are you doing our dishes?!" and I was like "yep!"

Low key, of all the inaccuracies that film got wrong about law, her having a high gpa + a 179 on the LSAT, and being accepted by Harvard... totally checked out. No need to make fun of her because her degree was in fashion, a 179 convinces me she clearly had smarts for the school.

I read once that a boss's job should be focused on finding the part of the business that only you're able to do, and to hire out the rest. So Elon can hire people smarter than him to build his rockets and cars, but it takes a special genius to tweet as much as he does.
Two months into being a first year. Had two of my busiest days yet yesterday and today. But for the first time I felt like I was keeping up and did good work.
That's it, that's the tweet.

you may now applaud.
I'll just say this. When I failed the first time, not only did
#lawtwitter
pick me back up but professors of mine who saw my tweet intentionally reached out to also pick me back up.
I love them for that and it meant so much to me.
Law school mug collection grows yet again, thanks to
