In my life, I've taken the LSAT, MCAT, SAT, not to mention all the standardized testing I had to do in middle/high school. I was nervous for many but none of them physically made me ill. But the Bar. Yesterday I spent an hour talking to my mom trying not to cry out of stress. /?

And that was after day 1 of a 2-day exam where I was so anxious that I got nauseous during the lunch break and my hands were shaking during the essay. I share this because I was one of the few who genuinely LOVED law school. I am so proud of how I did in law school. /2

@imillhiser As a younger millennial (born 94) it's not stability; it's more that I learned how much more complicated the world is. Things I thought were simple are actually really hard. But R has no meaningful policy position other than "D is the devil." And I still care about social issues.

My 1L classes were foundational not just for the content of the law, but the content of the character that my professors taught. I have very specific memories where my 1L professors pushed me to think about not just what the law *is*, but what it *ought* to be. I love this clip.

That's not to say it's not incredibly rewarding, both financially and work-satisfaction wise. But there's a reason a lot of lawyers burn out and why there's high rates of substance/alcohol abuse, and I've only been doing this 2 months but I can totally see some 25year old 2/
