I know a very talented researcher who received the

PhD prgms able to consider a trainee with 3 yrs funding so they don't need to decline the award? (Can't defer it seems)
I'm thrilled to say I have the privilege of serving as the Associate Director for

My brilliant colleagues in

Just stumbled upon the

Congrats to everyone who has or is submitting their grad school applications! That’s a huge accomplishment! Thanks for sharing your journeys, passions, and ambitions with us. I can’t wait to read your stories! Good luck & remember: you belong here & you’re a total rockstar. 🤩🔬
It’s official! As of July 1 I’ll be the Director of Educational Programming for the Harvard Graduate Program in Neuroscience and Department of Neurobiology at
@harvardmed
! Thrilled for the opportunity! Thanks to all who support my work and who made this amazing job a reality!
Kudos to all the life science students submitting
@NSF
GRFP proposals today! No matter the outcome, you've all just become better scientists by taking time to formulate a research proposal & reflect on your own motivations & goals for your career in STEM. You're all rockstars! 🌟
@dacolon
Thank you so much for this. This has been difficult for me, as I and some of my female colleagues are runners who often run at conferences. I imagine this happening to me. Also, another thing women deal with: I haven’t found a single news article that calls her Dr.
I am so excited to share mine and

My ❤️ is so full! The

1 of the best ideas I adopted in grad school was to start a "Happy" inbox folder for feel-good emails. My folder began (retroactively) w/my acceptance email to
@PiN_Harvard
and has since grown to include messages from my own students. A joy to browse every now & then. 🙂❤️
I ♥️that my career has taken me to a place where the bulk of the seminars/conferences I attend include discussions of equity/inclusion and statements like, "If we're going to smash the colonial patriarchy..." 🙂

To everyone submitting PhD apps in for the big Dec. 1 deadlines - CONGRATS! You've already put in so much work thinking deeply about your research experiences and writing about your personal journey thus far. Sit with this accomplishment...then get excited for interviews! 😃👏
It’s the end of an era. I just held my last (for now?) class of Sex, Gender & the Brain at Harvard College, which I taught for 5 years. I’m going to miss the students & our rich discussions. Focusing now on the exciting courses & new opportunities taking its place next year. 🧠

Our long awaited project is finally done! Myself and 23 other Black women PhDs and PhD candidates have published a memoir to share our experiences in a PhD program. First year me would’ve loved to have this book and I can’t believe I’m an author in it😊
Lest grad students ever doubt their skills are transferable beyond the lab: if your cat ever develops diabetes you can wow the vet w/your comfort w/sub-cu injections. Added bonus: all ur friends/catsitters are also accomplished 🐭surgeons who are equally suited for the task.
And another class wrap! Held our last day of Discipline of Neuroscience w/

All of those hormones are made in males and females, just in different concentrations. So it's inaccurate to classify some as "female" hormones and some as "male" hormones. The metabolic relationships are correct though (i.e., estradiol is synthesized from testosterone)

I have the coolest job. I just placed an order that includes a sheep brain, a skate, a lamprey, and an "economy" shark :-p This comparative neuroanatomy course is going to be awesome :-)

Aspects of negative mentoring experiences in the lab, as studied by
@triple_tuma
: 1) lack of career or technical support, 2) absenteeism, 3) abuse of power. Though talk focused on undergrad researchers, I think we can all recognize these same symptoms in

Spread the word far and wide: PhD programs in Neuroscience (among other fields) PAY YOU to study! Tuition and health insurance are covered, and students receive a stipend for living expenses. Travel costs for interviews are covered too!
Hi you can get paid $35,000+ to do research on the brain for 5 or 6 whole years of your life.
If you're low income you can apply to grad school for free, if the schools dont require GRE 😊
