Gently talking to my mother about how she won’t be able to hold a funeral for my dad, who’s in his last days and hours of life, was one of the hardest conversations I’ve had. No matter what the mortality rates end up being, the cost to humans of Covid will be very, very high.

I’m really pleased that @UNESCO is shining a light on boys’ exclusion from education. Donors love girls education, but the reality is that poor boys are as disadvantaged as poor girls. And boys are exposed to heart-wrenching levels of violence in schools too.

Saw my surgeon this morning and he gave me *new* information about my tumour type which has given me a 1-2% higher chance of being alive in 10 years, according to the NHS Predict tool ⬇️. First good news I've had in a while - happy day 🙂 #checkyourself

The evaluation of the impact of schools administered by @bridgeintlacads in Kenya was published today. It’s the first rigorous study of their private school model in Kenya (their PPP/government school model in Liberia was previously evaluated by @justinsandefur @marome1 )

My hospital suggests that chemo patients keep a packed hospital bag for emergencies -the neutropenic sepsis equivalent of a 3rd trimester pregnancy bag Two weeks on from chemo 8/8, & four months after I first packed it, I’ve finally felt confident to unpack mine Fuck you cancer

I was curious how much my cancer treatment would cost were it not for the NHS. I used the Mayo Clinic price list to estimate this, and it's mind blowing. Note that this does not include future treatment -ie chemotherapy - and doesn't include nine nights in hospital #thankyouNHS
