As a lifelong Democrat I am still struggling to reconcile that it was our party who closed schools, masked small children, shamed the unvaccinated, and smeared parents who spoke out against closures and mandates.
It still shocks me.
@PamelaG62793303
@AnnLesbyPhD
Doesn’t sound like you are taking this seriously. Only a few sheets of plexiglass?? And please tell me you have an underground bunker…
I see tweets of MDs and PH officials complaining people aren’t wearing masks and that there are no mask mandates in stores and planes. They should follow the advice they previously gave us: STAY HOME.
These pediatricians (
@thepedipals
) are pushing face masks for children, and have an Amazon storefront where they sell (untested and unregulated) children’s masks and earn a commission on the sales.
Masks are harmful, especially to children. Some of the harms:
1. Babies unable to read facial expressions and the corresponding speech patterns.
2. Delayed speech and vocabulary development in children.
@Maestra_Momma
You people make it seem like it has already ended. It is still going on! They don’t feel bad and definitely aren’t sorry for the chaos they created.
@OneJerseySchorr
But adults are free to go maskless to bars, restaurants, and all the other crap.
Punishing the kids because they can’t fight back - disgraceful!
Here's me right before eating lunch with my FloMask on. I had the LaminAir partly on my lap and on the table to save space. Louvers pointed to my face so I could get relatively clean air (13).
I’m still struggling with the last 2.5 years. Should we create a political party fighting for the well-being of children? A union of sorts? I’m open to ideas.
It’s just 2 weeks.
It’s just a mask.
It’s just a year of school.
Kids can catch up on learning.
Kids are resilient.
2.5 years later.
Let’s bring back mask mandates.
Let’s have 10 day quarantines.
Why are kids anxious and depressed?
Why are kids so far behind in school?
I’m no fan of trump. Not even close. Nothing about him I like.
But why are people talking about trump 6 days before the midterms? We should be talking about every candidate up for re-election who has made our lives worse over the past 2 years. That’s it.
#EndAllMandates
I’ve said it since day one, to anyone who would listen, long before I was on Twitter, and I will say it now:
It is ridiculous to mask kids 12-17.
It is cruel to mask kids aged 5-11.
It is ABUSE to mask any child under the age of 5, or any special needs child.
#STOPmaskingKIDS
Masks don’t work. But what if they did? Would the costs outweigh the benefits? Masks are harmful, especially to children. Some of the harms:
1. Babies unable to read facial expressions and the corresponding speech patterns.
I hope that, before the next pandemic, the United States has universal health care, paid sick leave, less poverty, more equality, and decent housing for all Americans. But that will require voting for better politicians.
@AmerAcadPeds
@AACAP
@hospitals4kids
@WhiteHouse
A crisis that you created!
We don’t trust you anymore. If a pediatrician references the AAP, we won’t trust them, either. If a pediatrician defends the AAP, then we will look elsewhere for a provider.
New CDC Director Mandy Cohen recalls how she and her colleagues came up with COVID mandates during her time as NC Health Director.
“She was like, are you gonna let them have professional football? And I was like, no. And she’s like, OK neither are we.”
@jasmith_yorku
If you were really that concerned, you’d wear a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR).
But keep up the great work, because you definitely aren’t furthering your cause with this nonsense.
Children shouldn’t be masked or locked down or treated like “super spreaders”
Children cannot consent to drugs or surgeries that alter their “gender”
Males don’t belong in female spaces or female sports. Ever.
There are issues I will compromise on…but not the 3 above.
@nycexpatmom
The masking stuff is the most recent. I’ve also been watching the transgender stuff being pushed onto kids and the AAP not only standing by, but actually endorsing it. There are so so so many things I disagree with the right on…but protecting kids are priorities 1, 2, and 3.
In 2022 you are apparently a right wing radical if you are against masking toddlers, for keeping schools open, and believe that children aren’t capable of making decisions regarding gender altering hormones and surgeries.
Strange times.
@WalkerBragman
A reminder that the push to keep schools closed (and then mandatory masking for children when they finally opened) came not from the hardest hit communities, but rather from rich, white people who were privileged hypochondriacs.
Feel free to @ me
I’ve seen comments that this is a stupid username. Guess what? I completely agree. In no scenario should there ever be a username or hashtag or even a statement of StopMaskingKids…because kids should NEVER have been masked.
A 2 year old goes to the pediatricians, knowing that they’ll have to get shots, so they are screaming, crying, kicking, fighting…absolutely terrified.
How can we make this situation better? Let’s put masks on the nurses, the pediatrician, AND the terrified toddler. Brilliant.
Crazy eyes? Check
Huge gaps around mask? Check
Blocking replies? Check
Credentialism? Check
Fear mongering? Check
If you add up all of the above, this equates to a Branch Covidian Thetan Level 5
I work in an ER at a receiving hospital for one of the most prestigious oncology centers in the known universe.
So yeah, even though it isn’t currently required to wear a mask at work (based on some metric), I do it anyway.
I like keeping my patients as safe as possible.
When the kids of this generation are adults, and ask why they were treated so poorly by the adults who were supposed to be taking care of them, I am going to tell them the truth. I will name every. single. person who pushed for masks, lockdowns, etc. Every. Single. One.
What scared me most over the last 3 years was the complete lack of critical thinking, people parroting nonsense they heard on tv, and the willingness of the masses to just go along with whatever they were told to do.

It's now acknowledged that COVID-19 is primarily transmitted by tiny aerosols generated through NORMAL breathing—not coughing, or flying spit globules.
Based on what we already KNEW about these respiratory aerosols, this should have meant MASKS OUT.
If you are a medical professional wearing a mask, especially in an outpatient setting, I have no faith in you or your abilities.
Surgical masks are for surgeons. Cloth masks are for morons.
It’s incredible how many medical professionals still wear masks even when they’re not required.
How can anyone in that field be completely unaware of the overwhelming evidence, or purposefully ignorant of it, showing that masks don’t work?
Well

finally blocked me. I hope someone else will remember to reply with the below whenever it contradicts her statements.
Education is not a bargaining chip for political gain. It's the cornerstone of an informed, thriving democracy. Let's not let fleeting political trends dictate cuts and hardship for families. Our children's futures should transcend partisan politics.
Yes, it was your lane, and you failed miserably. The
@AmerAcadPeds
failed the children of this country so badly, that you should never be trusted again. So it is no longer “your lane”.
Child advocacy is an essential element of pediatric practice. Children don’t speak up for themselves, can’t vote, and don’t pay taxes or contribute to political campaigns. As a result, it’s less often ‘children first’ and more often ‘children last.’ It’s up to us.
#ThisIsOurLane
Masks don’t work.
Masks are harmful.
Masks are especially harmful to kids
Masks should never be mandated.
Masks should be strongly discouraged.
Masks should be outright banned in many settings.
‘wHy r U sTiLl tALkiNnG aBoUt mAsKs?!’
These petty tyrants won’t give up the only thing that made them relevant.
Reminder:
Do not mask.
Do not test.
Do not comply.
Masks aren’t perfect- because no intervention is. But they are a tool in the tool chest. You don’t use every tool every time, but it’s hard to get the job done (in this instance, staying safe) if you refuse to accept that certain tools can be helpful in certain instances. 👇🏽
@JLimHospMD
Covid won’t attack the musicians with these masks on. Just like it doesn’t attack when you are sitting down at a restaurant. It’s TheScience!

Wasn’t there a reply email showing Collins an article written by Gregg Gonsalves accusing the GBD of being fringe? Published on Wire dot com if my memory is correct.
Masking kids has only been part of the disturbing classroom trends.
Our demands are very simple:
Don’t mask our kids.
Don’t teach radical gender critical theory to our kids.
Don’t teach our kids to hate one another; don’t teach them to hate themselves.
#StopMaskingKids
Masks aren’t a big deal to those without children.
Seeing a child every 6-12 months for a (masked) well visit doesn’t give you any insight into how a child is struggling, unfortunately.
These people are gross.
What if you made one change only:
If you see someone not wearing a mask, leave them alone. Leave everyone alone while you practice your own foolish and unscientific superstitions.
Could you at least do that, please?

I found this quote thanks to
@ThomasSowell
"Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent." Adam Smith
Mercy to the guilty tyrannical covidians is cruelty to the innocent children, disabled, elderly, and those who were already marginalized.
Why do mask mandates fail? Even with strict compliance and N95s? The video below (and the continuation in the next tweet) explain why.
The rest of this🧵summarizes why I believe those pushing for mask mandates are dishonest &/or willfully ignorant &/or mentally unwell.

We will stop talking about it when people are held accountable.
I still can’t believe the lack of shame from people who have been wrong over and over again for the past 3 years. They think they can block and mute dissenters and just keep doubling down.
A reminder that the push to keep schools closed (and then mandatory masking for children when they finally opened) came not from the hardest hit communities, but rather from rich, white people who were privileged hypochondriacs.
A reminder that the push to reopen schools throughout the pandemic came not from the hardest hit communities, but rather from wealthier, whiter parents who framed their exasperation at dealing with their kids 24/7 as some kind of social justice pursuit.
Don’t @ me.
MASKING CHILDREN: Masks seemed like good idea at beginning of pandemic of new pathogen; but we have to admit (to regain trust in public health) that the best quality data does not show mask mandates effective (of course anyone can wear fit/filtered mask)
