Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed on Friday, February 21, 2020, due to inclement weather. To ensure the safety of all, CMS before and after school programs, athletic events and field trips are canceled. Community Use of Schools events will continue as scheduled.

We will be closed on Thursday, January 18th. All evening events on Thursday are cancelled. Make-up days for school closings on January 17 and January 18 will be Monday, January 22 and Monday, February 19.
CMS will be closed for all students Friday, January 19th, with an optional Teacher Workday for staff beginning at 10am. The make-up day for Friday will be announced asap. The exam schedule will resume Mon., Jan. 22nd through Wed., Jan. 24th and are early release for high schools.
UPDATE: Our hearts are with the family, loved ones, friends and everyone affected by the tragedy that occurred this morning at Butler High School. Counseling is available to any student or staff member who wishes to speak to someone.
CMS will be closed for all students and staff on Friday, October 12. Our community has been hit hard by high winds, heavy rain, downed trees and power lines from Hurricane Michael. 19 schools currently have no power, out of 32 total outages.

In addition to serving ~19,000 meals to students today, we also distributed thousands of Chromebooks so that we are prepared for distance learning. We are in this together, CMS!

Students, staff and district leadership helped re-paint the school rock at Ardrey Kell after it was vandalized over the weekend. This is truly an example that we can come together and stand up for what is right. By working together, we will continue to defeat hate and racism.
CMS is closed for students, but our hard-working Operations staff is making sure that schools remain clean, repairs are made and grab-and-go meals are provided. It’s wonderful hearing feedback from our Transportation team, too.

The Board of Education voted to revise its school reopening plan and approved a full-remote learning plan, known as Plan C, during an emergency called meeting today. With this decision, CMS schools will open Aug. 17 with fully remote learning. Learn more:
