The idea that a DJ who's never made a tune in their life should make more money than a wildly popular producer who doesn't want to play shows is just an insult to my basic sense of how the world should work.
FAO: Students.
HMU about all of my gigs you want to come along to.
Ticket prices to some clubs and festivals are a bit expensive for a lot of you guys so if you want to come along and see me play, then I'll sort you out with my guestlist 👍
Love,
Scuba 🖤
omg 🤭 found this back! When I was a teenager i was a runway model. This show was for Ann Demeulemeester and until today it still is my favourite designer!!! I actually also Dj’ing for them back then, before I was playing in clubs :)
Joaquin Phoenix wearing the same suit for the 'entire award season' might be the signal we've all been waiting for to really tackle climate change in a serious way
This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet. He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud to join forces with you... x Stella

No one who’s been playing hard techno for last few years should be allowed to rejoin society when the coming collapse of that genre inevitably plays out
Had no intention of making any announcement about taking a break from touring but since RA picked it up via my Insta, here's a better explanation that I posted in my fbook group (which you can join via my page obviously)
Scuba AMA group:
First time I heard Love by Luke Slater was at a club called Bagleys in London. When Luke asked me to remix the track I instantly thought of the club, the mix I came up with is kind of a tribute to that venue. Thanks for the opportunity to reimagine a classic, hope you like it x
Beyond gutted to hear about Weatherall. One of my most memorable early touring experiences was taking a flight back from Croatia with him and receiving a two hour lecture on twentieth century military history. A legend in the fullest sense of the word.
The best thing you can do as a producer is listen to totally different styles of music to what you want to make, figure out the cool shit they're doing, and then apply it to your own stuff. Stop obsessing about best how to compress an 808, in other words.
I spent almost a full year of this decade physically incapacitated, in two separate periods (2014 and this year). Good health is really the most important thing in life.

for going No Phones. Honestly any venue that presents itself as repping “underground” music should have this policy. Counter culture means going against the prevailing culture. The alternative is inherently mainstream.
I don't wish death on Donald Trump, but I wouldn't mind if he had a period of extreme fear and physical discomfort, followed by electoral humiliation, spending the remainder of his life entangled in court cases which ultimately lead to a lengthy period of incarceration.
Taking your music off Spotify but leaving it up on YouTube (who pay an even worse royalty rate, without getting started on how damaging the recommendations algorithm is to humanity as a whole) is... well let's just say it's a bit inconsistent.
We should all delete our fbook and instagram accounts. Probably the single most impactful political step we can take at this point. It's such an integral part of the music infrastructure that it's hard to see anyone doing it. I'm trying to figure out how to mitigate doing so.
When you buy a digital album or track by an artist you like, or just stream something of theirs.... hit the Artist Favourite button as well. It actually makes a difference, way more than you'd think. On any platform, they all have it. Thanks on behalf of everyone you support ✌️
Struggling to come to terms with the reality that we're facing at least another two years of 140bpm nosebleed techno before the inevitable minimal revival movement kicks in.
What the Joe Rogan deal most vividly illustrates is how unimportant music is in popular culture today. And this is largely because, as a whole, musicians are more interested in enriching themselves than leveraging their influence for social and economic change.
This will be posted everywhere but I don't think there's a limit to how many people should read it so I'm posting it as well. Also, be suspicious of anyone who uses this to vindicate their position in some way. That's kind of missing the point.
I'm as disappointed as anyone. But on my timeline I've seen
Zionist media conspiracy theories
Misogynist abuse of journalists and politicians
Labelling all Tory voters as racist
Get a fucking grip people.

Totally agree with

here. Vinyl is a pointless, archaic, environment-wrecking, relic of a bygone age and the sooner we all stop fetishising it the better.
Having moved around Europe a fair bit in the last couple months (always observing the testing protocols etc and NOT playing at plague raves), seems that everyone thinks their government is the worst at dealing with COVID. Pretty sure the British govt is the actual worst though.
The enormous and totally unprecedented transfer of public money to already-very-rich private individuals during the pandemic has been almost completely unremarked upon by politically active musicians of all success levels.
Why is that? Serious Q.

’s show at E1 in London to play a few tunes unannounced last night. Great fun, really like what they’ve done with that venue (used to be Studio Spaces)
Remember you don't need your voting card or ID to vote today. Just turn up and give your name. Whispering 'fuck the Tories' under your breath is optional.
Here's the thing - if you want to do everything yourself in music these days you can. Just do it. If you're not getting opportunities, or the ones people are offering don't make sense to you, don't sit around complaining. Make it happen yourself.
I'm looking for unsigned/unreleased music to play on

'As equally inspired by the halcyon days of chewy techno/rave as it is the ambient zonal drone outs of Fripp, Eno and Neu!'
Seems strange that festivals are going ahead next year with the exact same lineups. Is this whole year being deleted from the cultural record? I wouldn't be happy with that if I'd bought a ticket.
Man I love Japan. Been coming here for years and I'm basically no closer to understanding any of it but everything just tastes so good. And everything looks so cool. Currently drinking one of the best cappuccinos I've ever had ❤️
Playing up around 138bpm again is pretty fun, can't deny it. Been hammering the most underrated Mala track (Da Wrath VIP). Tell me that doesn't work with techno and you'll be wrong.
FAO producers / unsigned / new talent.
SCB radio drops later today which will have 3 demos you guys sent over.
As SCB radio is weekly then send your tracks to radio

The platforms there so don't be shy! Might even lead onto something 🖤
Worth remembering today that Life Of Brian was banned in many places, including parts of the UK. It only got made because George Harrison covered the funding after the studio cancelled it. Which musician today would stick their neck out like that on something so controversial?
