My process: I use Trello to manage all my projects. I create separate workspaces for each project and then created either an RA board or a general project management board. This is where everything important is located and linked, incl grant proposals, manuscripts, agendas, etc.

Excited to receive a @RWJF @evidence4action grant to examine the effects of state collateral sanctions on racial inequality in health with my co-PI for life @lo_demarco !! Legislators enacted over 40k collateral sanction policies (!!!!!), which helped drive mass incarceration.

I was volunteering my Saturdays doing educational programs in a juvenile detention facility for three years. I literally was like, I clearly enjoy this work, why don’t I write a dissertation on prison education programs? Then I dug into the literature & found my contribution.

I have really been furious all day. It’s different if you truly cannot afford to fund grad students b/c there is no money. It’s another thing when you are a wealthy university and CHOOSE to cut funding from your most vulnerable workers. I don’t take well to feeling expendable.

I didn’t remember anything after my defense. I was literally on autopilot. But I do remember feeling so confident with my answers. No more “does that answer your question?” after I know I did. Now parts of it are coming back to me and I’m very happy with how it went 😭

I truly wish more graduate students had professional websites with their research interests listed well before they’re on the market. That should be implemented into & funded by programs by at least your 3rd year. It’s so hard to find suggested grad student reviewers sometimes!
