of quirky SLC things. My Instagram is much better.
Wish I knew some more people / MomTok-ers down in Draper or West Jordan.
Really feel like they’d appreciate these stickers more than the traditional SLC-crowd…
NBA All Star Weekend is about to kick off here in Salt Lake City and the
@utahjazz
’s Vivint Arena is looking so good!
Nothing like having the mountains pop in the background, too!
If you know me, you know I’ve done my fair share of crazy Salt Lake City runs…
But this, this is next level!! I’m just in awe of this group of runners right now. No words.
630 laps. Incredible.
@EliMcCann
I’ve had this happen with a pair of Russian speakers at an SLC grocery store before; but as soon as they insulted me, I turned my head so quickly towards them they instantly knew that I knew what was said, and sheepishly apologized
Don’t know how you kept up the act for so long!
Realized I never posted here the time-lapse video of my running every street of Salt Lake City.
Hope you enjoy the etch-a-sketch looking video if you haven’t seen it — was one of my favorite projects to do!
@1techcritter
Well… no actually; these are just the 25 different types (actually I saw 28 varieties, but wanted a square collage).
The total number of signs seen was 143 in this neighborhood on my bike ride.
Friendly reminder that this investment by Texas Instruments in Lehi is partly paid for by the CHIPS Act — a piece of legislation that every member of the Utah congressional delegation not named Mitt Romney voted against.
Happening NOW: State/City leaders are in Lehi to break ground on the brand new Texas Instruments manufacturing plant (the 2nd) being built in the city.

The funniest argument I’ve see about Cox leading is blaming Dems — who went through the rigmarole of switching parties — for voting for him en masse.
My dudes, if they are responsible for a 37 point swing they wouldn’t need to switch parties: we’d have a Dem governor!

CRISIS AVERTED — Fun Time Kidz Kare color scheme returns, albeit with a slightly different green tone.
Will run a sophisticated analysis via “the eye dropper tool” to quantify the differences! Stay tuned for updates on this important story!
Dude knows that Taylorsville, Utah has a population of 60k and is situated right square in the middle of a 1.2M person metro area, right?
Not particularly a “small town”!
Obligatory reminder that we could have had this far superior congressional district map that championed the highly sought-after "urban-rural" blend while minimizing the divisions, had the Utah Legislature decided not to gerrymander us to death...

Can confirm that By the Bucket: Hot Spaghetti To Go restaurant in Salt Lake City is no more.
Hard to say why a bulk spaghetti restaurant — whose offerings also include Mushroom Lattes and breakfast sandwiches — failed.
Black Utah license plate, you may have met your match! This is so cool!!
Shout-out to Jen Plumb for (almost) making this a reality!
You can read about the plate and how it raises money for Great Salt Lake preservation efforts:
This is just a collection of *different* types of signs — the sheer number is pretty off the charts; by far the most I’ve seen in an election cycle.
But of course signs don’t vote but I think it may serve as a proxy for voter enthusiasm.
The Whalethon: officially a phenomenon!
Logged a few dozen laps to provide moral support to the 7 or so folks running it today — it is every bit as insane as I imagined it being.
(Not pictured: an
@EliMcCann
sighting, as well!)
Absolutely LOVE the real-time tracking of Salt Lake City’s snowplows!
One fun little suggestion I have: can we get the names of the plows when we click on them?
I NEED to know if it was Sled Zepplin or Jon Bon Snowvi that just passed by my house!
Current condition of Salt Lake City’s newest lake — located at the demolished pit of the former Sears building on 800S and State St! 🤢
(This photo is unedited)
The demolition site of the former Sears building on State St between 800S and 900S in Salt Lake City — which is now an impromptu playa lake due to the snow and rainfall — has been marked as a wildlife refuge / seagull preserve on Google Maps!

My goodness — speaking as a person who has run 100+ laps on this road so far this year, this is truly wild!
This is the most submerged I have seen the Sugar House Park Road in Salt Lake City all season. Just wow!
Westminster Ave over by Westminster College getting some of that sweet, sweet SLC traffic calming!
Watched first-hand how this slowed traffic on this notoriously speedy street!
Kudos

Some new graffiti that went up sometime yesterday on the abandoned Sizzler near Sugar House Park in SLC.
Definitely got me chuckling a little.

I present to you this year’s annual Utah Jazz run!

Did you know: the childhood home of Michael Myers — as seen in Halloween 5 — happens to be a house up in the Avenues in Salt Lake City?!?
There is your spooky SLC fact for the day!
Made a series of die cut stickers of Salt Lake City neighborhoods!
These are the first ones I have on order (Sugar House, Rose Park, The Avenues, and Liberty Wells).
I have pretty much all the other neighborhoods designed — is this something SLC folks might be interested in?
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
Is it just a coincidence that “Cox Lane” intersects with “State Street” in Midvale while “Lyman Court” is a dead-end in Salt Lake City?
Or is it a multi-city conspiracy amongst Street Departments to skew public opinion?
You decide; I’m only asking questions.
Got to say, I think Bangerter Highway is the biggest transportation failure in Salt Lake.
Watched a group of high schoolers trying to cross it at 3500S and I could feel myself tensing up.
It's size, speeds, and proximity to neighborhoods makes it pretty nerve-racking .
Wanted to share one more photo of the
@9thand9thwhale
that I took yesterday.
I love how it looks like the whale is watching over all of Salt Lake City!
Sugar House is now doing a hostile takeover of the

Thanks to

A lot of comments needing the “Sir, this is a Wendy’s” treatment 😆
My dudes — relax! I’ve been following political signs of all persuasions across the Salt Lake Valley for years now and just point out oddball observations! That’s it!
Some people messaged me asking about my shirt — it’s of the 9th and 9th Whale’s color palette!
I averaged the RGB values of each colored section from several photos I’ve taken of it.
Anyways, if you dig hyper-niche SLC content, you can get it here:
Last post for today — here is the Strava from “The Run”!
(I messed up re-starting my watch after taking a break on, I believe, Lap 66 — this is why you see 1 thin line cutting across the arena; lost ~0.25 miles of data).
LET’S GO JAZZ!!
As someone who has, literally, been on every street in the city these extra-spicy hot takes at portraying Salt Lake City as some sort of urban hellscape are truly hilarious to me!
Have you ever even been out of the state? First we had “lock your doors in West Valley” now Salt Lake City is somehow becoming Robocop levels of dystopia.
I guess we finally are becoming a liberal world class city
And here is a time lapse of the route! It was super fun to plan out and run it!
We ARE winning 68 games this year and we ARE winning the championship. I feel it.
LET’S GO JAZZ!!!!!!!

Periodic reminder that if you are in need of finding something to do, I keep a regularly updated map of all the weird and unusual things I’ve come across in Salt Lake — can make for a quirky scavenger hunt of sorts!

Since I am somewhat of an authority in weird SLC stuff, have to say: this is the most amazing thing since “The Whale”

People on the East Bench putting up strong resistance to development, citing “preserving neighborhood character” arguments.
That neighborhood character after developments gets delayed or canned due to their resistance:
If this woman wins the CD2 primary, I swear to god I will convert to the Sacred Church of the 9th and 9th Whale.
For all you SLC “R”s out there — get your ballot in!
I am so thankful for the opportunity to vote. I feel honored to have the support and sacrifice of so many across the state who share my vision of bringing a little more of the Utah way to Washington, DC. Get out and vote TODAY! 🗳️
Okay, last mural for the day!
Been tracking this one going up on 700E near the S-Line for about a month — the finished piece looks amazing!
