I’m all for the subsidies for electric cars. But the more important thing is to use cars less, a lot less. Bikes, cycleways, ebikes, safer footpaths, rules to stop cars parking on footpaths, buses, trains, trams etc - that is how we win on climate and liveable cities

So I got curious about who had access to water from the Waikato River and I discovered that Wairakei Pastoral Ltd (dairy agribusiness) has access to more water than all of Auckland, at around 153 million litres PER DAY. WPL is owned by ten people.

The NZ Govt’s energy policy of restarting oil and gas exploration, looking at a fossil gas import facility to run a fossil gas electricity generator is so at odds with all the reports by climate scientists, MBIE, Transpower etc it makes me wonder if 88% of Ministers don’t read.
