AT will introduce easier payment options across all of Auckland’s buses, trains and ferries in the next 12 months. This means customers will be able to tag on and off with contactless payments (debit/credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay) alongside the current AT HOP card. (1/3)

In the morning peak, only 10% of the vehicles on Fanshawe St are buses, but they carry 78% of the people travelling. That means that 10,134 people in the 2-hour morning peak are in buses and 2,922 in cars. The 257 buses carry nearly four times as many people as the 2351 cars.

After 4 years of construction and redevelopment, the Chief Post Office (CPO) will reopen as the main entrance to Britomart Station. This will be how customers get to and from the platform levels below. Our temporary plaza Commerce Street will close on the day that CPO reopens.

To minimise the number of public surfaces you touch in Alert Level 3, we have rolled out automatic pedestrian crossings to over 200 locations across Auckland. This means you won’t need to push the button at a signalled pedestrian crossing if the red pedestrian signal is on.

Last week we took the Yutong Electric Bus for a test run, starting at the Airport and heading to Warkworth. The round trip was a distance of 184km, with the bus using 41% of it's battery capacity and an average power use of 84/kWh for every 100km travelled.

Picking a mate up from the Ferry terminal could turn into an expensive favour. Entering the Quay Street cycleway with a vehicle, will see you receiving a $60 fine. Don't be that person who not only endangers people’s safety, but also is just in the way 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

We take another step towards reducing Auckland's carbon emissions, as we welcome the Yutong E13 to our electric bus fleet. It is our first ‘extra-large’ electric bus, which can carry 78 passengers and is designed specifically to meet NZ standards.⚡🚌

Our Sustainable Mobility team is working on NZTA-funded ‘Fix-it-fast’ wayfinding projects for people on bikes. We're using colourful, slip-resistant markings to help people get around. To start, markings were installed last night on Upper Queen St and Ian McKinnon Drive.

Our electric trains being built in Spain have started heading into the paint booth, making the stainless steel shells a bit more recognisable. Next step, insulation and electrical install! The first of our new 15 three-car units is expected to arrive by the end of the year 🚉

On December 21, 2018 we had our ‘Home Free’ initiative, where all buses and trains were free on one of the busiest days for Auckland’s roads. Compared to the Friday before Christmas in 2017, the number of patrons after 4pm on the trains jumped from 𝟏𝟓,𝟖𝟎𝟗 to 𝟒𝟏,𝟎𝟖𝟐.

In the morning peak, 14% of the vehicles on Symonds St are buses, but they carry 81% of the people travelling on that road. That means that 7,856 people on Symonds St in peak are in buses and 1,893 are in cars. The 228 buses carry four times as many people as the 1,419 cars.

Did you know that the new escalators installed in Britomart Station are known as ‘metro-grade’ escalators and are the first of their type here in Aotearoa? They are designed to move 6,000 people per hour. To achieve this, these escalators also move 30% faster than others.

We are pleased to be trialing a new Yutong electric bus, for the next year with our operator Go Bus. It will be deployed on the 380 Airporter service initially, tested alongside the ADL Electric bus running on the same route. Later on, the Yutong will be operated on other routes.

Yesterday, the AT Board gave the go ahead for construction of the Great North Road Improvements project! The project will deliver walking, cycling and bus improvements along Great North Road, between Ponsonby Road/Crummer Road. Work planned to begin in August this year! 🚌🚲🚶‍♂️✨

Our teams have worked hard this week to keep Aucklanders moving. Last night, we installed a new bus lane on Customs Street West. This new priority lane connects with the existing one on Fanshawe Street, so Northern Express services aren't delayed when leaving the city centre.

Our new Viaduct Cycleway (Project WAVE) is going to be made permanent (with a few improvements) thanks to everyone’s feedback. Before Christmas, we’ll be making some small changes, including keeping cars out of the cycleway, and adding a new loading zone.

We’re introducing 12 electric buses on the CityLink by the end of this 2020. This is going to remove 686 tCO2e of Green House Gas emissions from the city centre each year, equivalent to powering 915 homes or fueling 299 petrol cars: ⚡🔋🚌

Our new trains are taking shape in Spain! 🚉 Measurements and welding are nearing completion on the first 3-car train before the carriage bodies are bead blasted. This first 3-car train is expected to be in Auckland before the end of the year.

A newly completed 5.2km path that provides a safe connection for people walking and cycling between Smales Farm and Northcote opens today! The bridges, constructed by Dempsey Wood Ltd, complete the shared path along Northcote Road, Lake Road and Queen Street on the North Shore.

After a few last minute tweaks, Alex's 101 carriage train travelled 14 metres along Platform 3 to create a new Guinness World Record for the longest LEGO toy train! Congratulations to Alex & his support crew - we feel honoured to have played a small part in today's achievement 🚉
