Well, today I gave out my first $580 cell phone ticket. To be honest, I felt kind of bad since the fine is so high. However, the legislation is clear and it is incredibly easy not to get the ticket by not using your phone. I will be issuing one every time I see it. @reginapolice

Out on foot doing a speed project right now. A lady and her beautiful children on bikes thanked us for keeping them safe as they crossed the street. Moments later an angry fellow yelled that we should be at a "high impact intersection." Seems like we already are... @reginapolice

Sometimes, you just can't win. Pulled a driver over, but based on his history, I decided to give him a warning but tell him how much the fine would have been. He then yells at me he's going to fight with me in court. Ummm, there's nothing to fight. @reginapolice

When I issue someone a ticket and they try to argue, I set the ticket on the dash and walk away. I might start pulling a Nick Miller and, to avoid conflict, awkwardly moonwalking back to my vehicle. @reginapolice

A few of us have dealt with this today: Yes, we have discretion. Yes, we can give warnings. However, when we tell someone we have decided to give them a ticket, we don't want to hear 10 more reasons why they need a warning. Bonus points for somehow blaming us. @reginapolice

@SelingerK @reginapolice Along with freedoms, we also have these things called laws. Littering, street racing, blaring music, revving engines, all illegal. Also, criminal mischief covers people's peaceful enjoyment of their property. Freedom doesn't mean freedom to do whatever the hell you want.
