Think about all you’ve heard on Ofsted listening. On wellbeing. At Eldon primary, who bravely speak out here, a teacher fell to floor crying during recent inspection. Two left suicidal. As Paul Whiteman says “nothing less than a total reset is enough.”

We will embed our values of professionalism, courtesy, empathy and respect in all our work. An example of this in action: Our new framework will be assessed for its effect on workload and mental health.

We also heard exceptionally upsetting testimony about the devastating consequences of instability of placements for children in care. We want all children to establish lasting, loving relationships, so we will consider how children’s homes deliver stability for children.

@Sam_LGibbs Hi Sam - my pleasure. Thanks to you for engaging too. We’ve tried to cast the scope of the Big Listen as wide as possible, with the consultation asking about all of our remits in education and care. We’ve also got 6 pieces of research in the field, all conducted independently.

Your views, your feedback and your criticism will help us improve - as will the independent research we are commissioning. We are opening ourselves up to challenge on everything we do because we want to improve. But this is only the first step.

@Sue_Cowley @Janroweljmu @Edmund_B_W @Ofstednews Hi both - thanks for the challenge. At the weekend, I wanted to draw attention to Martyn being explicit about “the very real issues in schools” in the same sentence. I hope I did so courteously and wasn’t dismissive of the criticism. I really do reject the DARVO comparison.

@Edmund_B_W Thanks Edmund. On complaints: I hope you saw the reforms we announced through the BL Response, including having independent panels looking at samples of complaints. We had really good feedback from the unions and representatives that joined those panels.

As a reminder, we have commissioned 2 external organisations to undertake surveys and focus groups with parents and professionals on our behalf – presenting us with a fully impartial take on what they hear. And we will be setting out plans to hear from children soon.
