“You don’t just give up! You don’t just let things happen! You make a stand, you say no! You have the guts to do what’s right, even when everyone else runs away!”
It’s quote from Doctor Who, but a good standard to live by.
If Sunak is a serious Prime Minister the following should not be in his Cabinet:
Priti Patel
Jacob Rees-Mogg
Suella Bravermann
Liz Truss
Boris Johnson
Therese Coffey
Maybe I’m just being hopeful, but I have a gut feeling that the government is going to collapse in the next few weeks and we will have an autumn General Election that the Tories will lose badly, leading to the breakup of the Conservative Party into its warring factions.
Sunak has refused to delay the start of parliamentary proceedings by one hour on Tuesday so members can attend the Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of Betty Boothroyd. I suggest all MPs attend and leave Sunak sitting alone in the Commons.
Boris Johnson is taking the you know what. He’s presumably still receiving his MP salary and has reportedly missed 187 votes, yet is swanning around the US making serious money whilst parliament is sitting. The people of his constituents deserve better.
Well, well, well.
The Party of the rich has raised the election spending cap by 80% to £35,000,000.
Only one Party can spend that type of money.
@RishiSunak
@Conservatives
A blatant attempt by the Tory traitors to buy the election.

They sicken me. Speaking from a position of relative wealth a privilege and telling those who are struggling to eat the cheapest food whilst they undoubtedly enjoy fine dining. Its an attitude and philosophy that sickens and repulsed me.
"The country would have supported the amendments and politicians have to be in touch with the country."
As Rishi Sunak suffers a rebellion over his bill to send asylum seekers to Rwanda, Jacob Rees-Mogg says the PM isn't listening to public opinion.
How much longer can the country endure what is probably the worst government in my lifetime (born in 1967) and possibly the most evil and corrupt British government ever?
#ToriesOut567
After this evening’s Panorama nobody who cares about the nation’s children and their education can vote Tory with a clean conscience.

The British Monarchy should have ended when Elizabeth died. Inherited power (however symbolic) and privilege has no place in a modern democracy.

@Marina_Sirtis
Trump is a politician. He’s just managed to convince gullible people that he isn’t. How so many can be deceived by this evil man is beyond understanding.
@Haggis_UK
Lineker is totally instep with public opinion that’s not hard right wing and racist - which is still the majority in this country. Jenrick is the one who is out of step with public opinion.
Why would any woman vote Conservative with antediluvian attitudes like this expressed freely by a Tory MP? I really cannot understand an intelligent modern woman voting Tory.
If you agree that the sooner we have a General Election and rid ourselves of this self centred, malign, baleful, evil Tory government the better….
#FollowBackFriday
@Marina_Sirtis
Speaking as a Christian Minister I disagree profoundly with Mr White. The Bible actually says nothing about abortion. Nothing! And as for the popular myth that St Peter allows or denies entry into heaven.......
@NileGardiner
Fact check. All Lineker actually said was some of the language being used was similar to 1930s Germany and, to be Frank, some of the language Braverman is using about migrants is potentially dangerous and inflammatory. The Right wing elite just don’t like this being highlighted.
@DrKateJMiller
@Revdavidgray
I heard it reported that most of those hospitalised with Covid have not had the jab. If you can have the jab, have it, and make life easier for doctors like Dr Kate.
So Lord Sugar, a BBC Presenter, can make political comments without censure, but Gary Lineker can’t? There is a double standard at work here. I wonder (rhetorical) what the difference is.

Tory MPs are expressing anger about damage to the Conservative Party. What about the damage they’ve done to our country for twelve long, politically and socially grim years?
#ToriesDestroyingOurCountry

Kemi Badenoch’s ludicrous statement shows how incredibly out of touch the government is with the people of this country. Almost unbelievably so.
#ToriesUnfitToGovern
Jeez! Imagine the shock for the Business Secretary when someone tells her the poorest households actually can’t afford a car - a million adults can’t even afford to eat every day! This Government has completely lost touch with all reality!
Remember when Teachers, Rail workers, University and College staff, Ambulance Staff, Nurses, Midwives, Postal Workers, Doctors and Firefighters crashed the stock market, wiped out banks, took billions in bonuses and paid no tax?
No, me neither.
#ToriesDestroyingOurCountry
@SuellaBraverman
@Conservatives
No. What your Government did was to put forward measures to further limit the democratic right to protest. You are the enemies of freedom and democracy.
Can we leave Philip Schofield alone now, please? He didn’t break the law, he made a big mistake which he has now admitted and been punished for. There is nothing to gain from further harassment of a man whose world has fallen apart.

@jessphillips
I’m probably too soft after all the Tories have done but I’m genuinely concerned for Liz Truss as a human being, for her health and well-being. For her own sake she shouid resign.
@KEdge23
Caroline Lucas is one of the best, most honest, hardworking and principled MPs this country had ever had and will be sorely missed from Parliament. She politically towers above any of the current Tory Cabinet and the fact that you call her awful says a lot about the Tories.
Mr Sunak,
@RishiSunak
, if you are serious about tackling extremism, how about you start with the intolerant extremists in your own Party like Suella Bravermann, Robert Jenrick, Kemi Badenoch…….. etc
The Rwanda Bill is not “the will of the people”. It’s in no election manifesto. The Tories have never stood in a General Election with it as policy. The phrase “Do not frustrate the will of the people” is reminiscent of authoritarian fascist phrases.
#ToryFascistDictatorship
'Do not frustrate the will of the people'
In a press conference this morning
@RishiSunak
urged members of the House of Lords to 'do the right thing' after his Rwanda Bill passed through the Commons
It’s the government who are ruining Christmas, not the Unions. They could end the train strikes tonight if they wanted to. Instead, they have blocked the rail delivery group from giving railway workers an improved pay offer.

If you want the Tories out of office. If you want the UK to stay in the ECHR. If you want to reverse Brexit. If you are seriously concerned about climate change. If you want a fair society for all. If you want a PR electoral system.
The ECHR isn’t just a court that stops immigrants being sent to Rwanda. The European Convention on Human Rights protects all of us from the excesses of government who want to do something that would affect or indeed remove our rights. To even contemplate withdrawing is madness.
@theAliceRoberts
You may be surprised at a Christian Minister writing this, but I agree with you. Compulsory Christian worship isn’t something I support.
@andreajenkyns
@RishiSunak
This is what you want to take away from the British people. You have no right to do so. You have no electoral mandate to take such a huge step. The British public will not tolerate you trying to take away our human rights and put us on par with a pariah state like Russia.
Having read Harry Windsor’s book, Spare, my respect for him and his wife has increased, whilst that for the remainder of his family had declined sharply. His book has the absolute ring of truth and I believe in the veracity of what he writes.

@NadineDorries
On that basis, “if it looks like a fish and smells like a fish”, the Tory party is now basically a corrupt hard right party with fascist leanings who only favour the wealthy and couldn’t care less about most people in this country……
@MediaWeasel
I’d actually rather a progressive coalition of Labour, Lib-Dems and Greens which will ensure we have Proportional Representation for future elections.
Caroline Lucas on the Laura Kuenssberg show once again showing she is a serious adult politician and making very sensible, reasonable taxation suggestions that are casually dismissed by Hammond. We need the Tories out and the Green Party in a progressive alliance government.
@tomhfh
Get your facts right. The Tories don’t have a historic majority with 80. The 1983 Thatcher government had a majority of 144 and the 1997 Labour government a majority of 179 and the 2001 government 167 majority. 80 really isn’t historic! Facts are such inconvenient things….

I’m deeply concerned by her speech at the Tory Condrencr and her attitudes towards freedom of expression and immigration, which, for me, are verging on being,or perhaps are, fascist. Attitudes like that should be alien to a British government Secretary of State.
@LizKershawDJ
Yes, and now she’s the Duchess of Sussex, a woman of class and dignity who has always been dressed appropriately in the last few days and given her husband appropriate and no doubt much needed support as he mourns his grandmother. What are you trying to imply?
I’m seeing so many Tweets criticising the Duke & Duchess of Sussex for holding hands. It wasn’t wrong and it wasn’t inappropriate for a wife to hold her grieving husband’s hand. And they weren’t the only ones. I wonder about the motivation behind the Tweets.

It’s one of the consequences of Brexit. The British are no longer EU Citizens and therefore no longer entitled to be resident in EU member states. It’s one of the inevitable consequences of the Brexit you voted for. The EU is not the villain here.
@dave43law
And what about the controversy surrounding the Director General, which is far more serious. I bet they don’t want a full independent investigation into that. Hypocrites!
@Nigel_Farage
I cannot believe people in this country are contemplating leaving the ECHR a move that would put us on a par with a pariah state like Russia. The ECHR protects our rights and freedoms as individuals and helps prevent dictatorship - or is that what you want?
@GMB
We don’t need a King or a Queen. We don’t need a monarchy or royal family. The concept of inherited power and position is outdated in the extreme and has no place in the 21st century.

Maybe you should think about why people feel so strongly about the Party you represent that they express those feelings in such a way. There are many, many people in this country, not just the left, who feel the Tory Party is destroying the UK and ruining lives.
4 chapters into this and I’ve already shed tears and felt genuine anger about how women are abused every day in our society. Talk about having my eyes opened as never before to how far we are from anything approaching gender equality. Every man should read it.
@EverydaySexism
@AngelaRayner
I often agree with you, Angela, but surely that is for the Scottish people alone to decide. I would rather Scotland remained within the UK, but as an Englishman I believe it’s their choice.
For a couple of years now, the UK has been battling with a surge in Victorian diseases, from scurvy & rickets to, most recently, scabies, amidst soaring poverty & malnutrition. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about the Tories then I don't know what else will.
@joymorrissey
The report upheld some bullying allegations against Raab. Bullying is never acceptable. It can cause mental health issues that can last for years and severly undermine people’s confidence in themselves. It’s not about telling people to go their jobs, it’s how it’s done,
The attitude of the Tories towards those who are struggling! If you have an ounce of compassion you cannot contemplate voting for these hard hearted self-centred people at the next General Election.

From the article: Labour say Sir Keir had nothing to do with processes that allowed these men to remain in the UK. “The idea that a letter from MPs questioning process led to dangerous criminals going on to commit crime is as weak as this government’s running of the Home office.”
@theAliceRoberts
You may be surprised that as a Methodist Minister I entirely agree with you on this, but I do. People should be honest about whether they are religious or not.
