I’m sorry, I’m going to dispute this. As a teacher I certainly don’t get ‘to wear whatever I feel comfortable in’… otherwise I’d be in jeans, a hoodie and trainers every day. Staff have a dress policy same as students do.

@JuliaHB1 For some children school uniform can be a massive sensory challenge. The policy are outdated. Especially when teachers get to wear what ever clothing they feel comfortable in. We now home Ed because school couldn’t make reasonable adjustments.

Can I just clarify, #SLANT or not… #SEND is not a reason to not follow rules. Society and all establishments have rules. We need rules. If people CANNOT abide by a rule because of a disability… fine, adapt. But we CANNOT get rid of rules for them. I’ll die on this hill.

Average secondary class… 30ish. 6 lessons a day… that’s 180 potential pens a day. Pens that get lost, broken, eaten, explode, run out etc. Where are the 900 pens a week coming from? #pengate

Adult at a meeting: oh I've forgotten my pen, do you mind if I borrow one of yours? Other adult: Sure, no problem. Children are human and make mistakes. Adults are human and make mistakes. Forgetting a pen is so low down on the priority list. Just give them a pen.

According to #edutwitter I should be ashamed of my #displayboards . They're all the same plain colour, with normal paper and a plain straight border. The writing is all one colour and font. Work is singularly backed. No pictures. No fancy material, leaves, art, newspaper etc.

@teachwellall Absolutely abolish SATs. No point at all. Simply ‘checking’ on school/teachers and using children to provide evidence. Secondaries do their own baselines as they’re sceptical of SATS, and rightly so as they put unnecessary pressure on children and aren’t a realistic picture.

When a female edutweeter tries to get support by making misogynistic accusations by adding 'male' to a tweet. Whatever you think of @oldandrewuk and his views/ways of tweeting - he is completely consistent in terms of race/gender. It's hypocrites he jumps on. Not women.

When a male edutweeter is clearly saving screenshots of female educators’ tweets from several months or years ago to post in current argumentative and accusatory threads you really have to question the online behaviour on display. It should raise red flags. It does for me anyway.

@redgierob This. Some kids hate those books but are desperate to read what interests them. Any scheme should be supplemented with a rich variety of literature and non fiction texts to build a love of reading for pleasure rather than just accuracy.

Reality is, you’re not facing loss of your career or livelihood if something goes wrong. It’s not going to be national news if your child breaks their neck.

@MrsSTeaches The aim is to reduce sensory overload. Minimal displays, no laminating (so no reflecting light), light colours etc. I have a notice board and our class displays (they're the same in every room) with rules, house point info, active listening prompts and behaviour traffic lights.

I left early on Tuesday, it was my son’s first day back at school and whilst his Nan is happy to have him I wanted to be there when he got home. I got glared at for leaving at ‘home time’ for teachers. As most stay well into the evening. Why do we discourage #Wellbeing

I met my new class on Friday. 9 students. Ks2. Working between pre EYFS (9-12m lowest end) up to KS1 level. Need to refresh my PECs and Makaton! I’m doing English, Maths and I’m also doing Science and Humanities. Plus communication and motor skills. #SEND

As a parent, I wouldn’t dream of going to a dr and telling them to run a hospital, and nor do I tell my son’s school what to do. Why do parents feel they could ‘run’ things? Do parents of #SEN children not realise that what works for their child might not work for all?

@petergates3 As a parent, I like a uniform as it keeps school/life separate. I might be in the minority though. Simple works for us, grey trousers or shorts and a blue polo. We have school logo jumpers but there’s the option not to. Easy peasy.
