In our Al Jazeera series The Labour Files we painted a portrait of a toxic, hyper factional, racist culture running Party HQ when Corbyn became leader.
They're back.
Well worth revisiting if you want to understand the forces that now control Labour.
It's disturbing so many national news channels have opted to give air time to defeated or nearly defeated Labour candidates pedalling a victim narrative that portrays their opponents as a dark, menacing other. /1

As the person who made the Al Jazeera film could I make clear it does not claim Apache pilots were behind "most civilian deaths" on October 7 - or anything close.
Thank you so much to DD News for allowing me to make this lovely little film with the wonderful Ghada Karmi and Avi Shlaim.
Thx too to my son Valentine for helping with the music.
@andrewrawnsley
"The 2019 defeat presided over by Jeremy Corbyn was Labour’s most calamitous showing at a general election since 1983 (measured by share of the vote)".
This simply isn't true.
1987, 2010 and 2015 were all worse.
The one piece of footage that exists of
@JonAshworth
supposedly being bullied in fact shows him very rudely ignoring and gaslighting a constituent exercising his perfectly legitimate right to challenge Ashworth over Labour's policy on Gaza. / 2
Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth does not like being confronted by his constituents
Apparently, holding him to account is "intimidation and harassment"
No MP is immune from scrutiny
Shame on you
@JonAshworth
for treating your constituents with contempt
@SaulStaniforth
@ZackPolanski
Important moment this.
Corbyn never pushed back against the assumptions underlying the antisemitism allegations. As we showed in Ep 2 of the Labour Files - the results were disastrous.
@ZackPolanski
appears determined to avoid that trap.
By far the most remarkable stories of the election were the near victories of
@LeanneMohamad
and

It’s astonishing that not a single national news channel has opted to interview either.
Frankly – it’s racist.
Human Rights Watch has produced what is likely to be the nearest we’ll get to a comprehensive, independent report on the events of Oct 7.
They were unable to find “verifiable” evidence of rape / 1
Excellent reporting from Israeli newspaper Haaretz on the killing of hostages by Israeli forces.
In line with our own film October 7 for Al Jazeera's Invesgitative Unit. / 2
@JewishNewsUK
Anyone who doubts there is a dark underbelly of Islamophobia to at least some of the campaigning around antisemitism should watch ep 2 of the Labour Files - our series for Al Jazeera's Intelligence Unit.
@DrFrancesRyan
In his own seat Streeting knows he is desperately vulnerable to Leanne Mohamad - who lost by just 500 votes.
It's vital journalists are alert to a "job" being done on her in the next few years.

Remarkable how many journos appear happy to be vehicles for vicious spin against Sue Gray - which is now almost continuous.
We are only 2 weeks into govt. Either Starmer is complicit or simply too weak to control those around him.
@FisherAndrew79
More importantly, Mandelson was in touch with Epstein while he was in prison, and while Mandelson was in office, as we revealed in Ch 4 Dispatches in 2019.
The NYT publishes the first, first-hand account of sexual abuse relating to October 7 - from a former hostage.
Unlike the NYT's earlier reporting on this issue, this is detailed and credible.
This is broadly in line with our Al Jazeera film, "October 7."
While our film did not rule out the possibility rapes occurred, we concluded there was simply no evidence it was widespread and systematic, as almost the entirety of Western media reported.
Andrew Feinstein has announced he's standing for parliament against Keir Starmer.
Andrew made a significant contribution to our film, the second episode in Al Jazeera's Labour Files series, offering an alternative view on Labour's antisemitism crisis.
The Night Won't End: Biden's War on Gaza - a superb film by my Al Jazeera colleagues at Fault Lines -

The description of the death of 6 yr old Hind Rajab, her family and those sent to rescue her is almost unbearable.
"Eliminating one or two minor irritants on the fringes of his party should be beneath [Starmer's] dignity."
She's talking about Britain's first black female MP here.
@Pollytoynbee
's "shaking off the fleas" moment.
"HRW found evidence of acts of sexual and gender-based violence … including forced nudity, and the posting …. of sexualized images on social media. HRW was not able to gather verifiable information through interviews with survivors of or witnesses to rape" /2
Prediction.
Labour will poll around 35% on a low turnout.
This will nevertheless yield a large majority.
The British media will behave as if the electoral system genuinely reflects the will of the British people.
Trying to resked GP appt for 85 yr old father - with Parkinson's - after we had to cancel because he was in hospital with dislocated hip.
After 40 mins on hold told no slots and only solution is for him to come and sit in waiting room and hope something comes up.
God help us
Labour's share of the overall electorate, including those who don't vote, compared to its share of seats.
The entire media narrative of the last 5 years about Starmer's transformation of the Labour Party simply has no foundation in reality.
Labour's share of the vote fell from 45% to 33.7% over the course of the election campaign.
The Tory share climbed from 23% to 23.7%.
The gap between the 2 more than halved.
Peter Mandelson's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein has been making headlines as court documents describe repeated meetings between the two men.
