This is huge. Malaysian Court of Appeal pronounced death penalty under s.302 of Penal Code in Zulfarhan Osman murder appeal. After mandatory death penalty was abolished in 2023, this might be one of the first ever case for courts to trigger death penalty under discretion.

My grandma goes through this same humiliating process with many JPN officers asking her Malay questions in demeaning tone when we apply for citizenship under Art 19. Luckily she can speak basic Malay well, and got her IC after 2 years of application.
