I love The Gambia. I truly genuinely love this country - with everything that comes with. I do not see myself doing anything else but working for The Gambia for as long as I can. I remain hopeful that a time will come when things will change for the better. 🇬🇲❤️
It has been a long but productive day. This week, I am in Ghana providing technical support and working with ECOWAS
@ecowas_cedeao
to review regional frameworks and guidelines that promote transparency & accountability in the West African Region.
In my conversation with US government official
@USAmbUN
, we discussed the key role young people across the African continent can play to promote democratic reforms. We also discussed my work and efforts to strengthen women and youth involvement in political leadership 😊🇬🇲
Coming back here to respond to all the “the debate was rushed and properly planned” tweets ‘cause you guys have got to me kidding me. Go ask your candidates if they were not engaged during the planning stages and some of them REFUSED to meet us. 1/2
Today, I had the honor to speak on behalf of young people at the National Dialogue organized by the President

National policies should be reflective of our realities & needs.

Praying to Allah during natural disasters is great, but Allah is not going to fix the drainage problem. Allah is not going to get us good roads. It’s the same problem every single year. You voted people into local & central government for a reason. Hold your leaders accountable!

Rape doesn’t happen by mistake, let’s establish that. Also, rape is as serious as any other capital offense and perpetrators MUST be held accountable by law. If they get life imprisonment, they DESERVE it. Our empathy and support should be directed at the victims/survivors.
Started my week with an engagement with political party leaders & the Inter-Party Committee. I am always so pleased to be a part of national conversations to increase youth & women’s political representation. Achieving internal party democracy is crucial to strengthen democracy.
Everyone has their purpose in life; mine is to serve. Forever in service of my people and country. The struggle continues until we realize the existence of The Gambia we all yearn for.

Gambians really are the best people! When I set out on this leadership journey, I was just another teenager with dreams of achieving big things for people and for country. The support I’ve received from Gambians since then has been immense& I am so grateful. So so grateful! ❤️🇬🇲
Took a lot of commitment and team work to pull this through. When I was given the task to coordinate this, I was super excited. I want to commend the entire
@CPDGambia
team for their hard work and determination, and for putting up with me and my endless tasks😂
I spent a very interesting day with Permanent Secretaries from
@Presidency_GMB
and government ministries. We will spend the next two days training them on strategic government communication and public engagement.
Yesterday, I was pleased to honor the invitation of the World Bank country office to speak at its commemoration of
#IWD2024
. I shared the panel with remarkable women leaders & had discussions on increasing women’s representation in leadership & ending harmful practices like FGM.
This young woman opens up about how she has been emotionally abused in her relationship, but your concern is she doesn’t have “sutura” because she spoke about all the things she got the man? She’s not a “good woman” because she dared to speak? Y’all gotta do better man
While the motion to repeal the law against

was ongoing earlier today, I had a conversation with the Deputy Majority leader and other NAMs. In the coming days, we will hold engagements with NAMs to ensure FGM remains criminalized & the safety of women and girls is guaranteed.

When the Executive Director of the National Youth Council reached out to me weeks ago asking for some background info, I thought
@GambiaNYC
had another activity they wanted me to moderate or be a part of. Couple days later I received a call informing me that
My guy, please rest and leave my mentions. I sit with your leaders, I don’t have the time to be arguing with you, too busy for that boo. Love and light 😘
As a alumni of the MWF, I am happy to share that this week I am in South Africa attending the MWF Symposium hosted by the U.S Department of State. Very excited to use this as an opportunity to share experiences & build strong partnerships with youth leaders across the continent.
Successfully distributed our first batch of food packs to COVID frontline workers. We distributed 120 food packs to the Red Cross HQ and Sanitorium. We will donate another batch of 300 packs on Friday. Keep donating.

This year, I am making time for the little things I love doing. I got up today & decided I wanted to take myself out. I went shoe shopping in Banjul, went to the spa for a body massage & pedicure, went to the mall for food & got some jewelry, serviced my car & went to the salon😍
Today, we’re united in our voices and numbers as survivors to remind our lawmakers of their duty to ensure the promotion and protection of the fundamental rights of Gambians, including the women and girls whose rights they will be violating should they repeal the FGM law.

It’s not a lie when people say be with/get married to the person that sees beyond your flaws and loves you in all situations. There are certain things, kula buga rek morla kor nango jelal. Be where you’re loved. 😊
When governments build schools and hospitals, construct roads, create employment and implement projects, they are not doing you any favors. That is their job, that is why you pay your taxes, that is why they ask for loans and grants on your behalf.
You owe them no praises
Day one of the

Women are human too. Before being mothers and sisters and wives, women are human beings FIRST. Human beings with rights that have to be respected, guaranteed and protection at all times.
If you defend a rapist and justify rape, you’re no different from the rapist.
It doesn’t matter why he did it, doesn’t matter what the girl wore, doesn’t matter if she was sexually active or not, Rape is RAPE and there is no justification.

Moving forward, we hope to see change through:
1. The allocation of sufficient state resources to ensure youth development
2. The mainstreaming of youth issues across sectors
3. The enforcement of legislation that seeks to protect girls from harmful practices such as FGM.

After this election, no politician should be out here calling on young people “to take the lead”. We have added our voices in this year’s electoral process in meaningful ways. We showed up and participated.
