Went to the East Belfast Battle of the Somme remembrance parade tonight. My great grand uncle fought in the Somme. He was one of the over 400,000 Australians who enlisted in the First World War. It was Australias costliest conflict as around 60,000 never came home.

@JoelKeysNI In Limerick in the Republic there was a massive problem with local crime gangs for years leading to the place being dubbed stab city. Zero tolerance policing was adopted along with heavy police presences which helped dismantle the main McCarthy Dundon gang. Limerick is great now

The Lockdown that made my decision to finally leave Galway after 27 years. I saw my income get decimated for the month so the NPHET could ‘send a message’. All the evidence at the time was that omicron was much more mild but it didn’t stop the Irish media and politicians.

@HennebryDylan elephant in the room is that Irish football also has to compete with the GAA. Many GAA teams end up taking elite athletes which is why the league of Ireland is introducing leagues for younger age groups. The fact is Scottish kids are just playing football not the case in Ireland
