Filed a draft of a story I've been reporting for a year. For fun, I deleted all my tweets. Just pinning this. Very excited to get back to work on edits for SWWTG. Through writing it, I've become a better wordsmith and person, even if it was so transformative as to be painful
Canโt wait for the episode about how they have to cover a mass shooting with no full-time staff and someone has to quit afterward because they have a mental breakdown even though another sister paper did send them a pizza in solidarity
The new iteration of โThe Officeโ has been picked up to series at Peacock.
According to the official logline, the series will focus on โa dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.โ
If this man had been to therapy heโd be able to just text his mom โI miss youโ instead of self-sabotaging his way into a national scandal through bigotry
Harrison Butker grew up wealthy because his mother, Elizabeth Keller Butker, is a medical physicist at the Emory University Department of Radiation Oncology.
Just because someone has a big brand or lots of followersโor even routinely grabs big scoopsโdoesn't mean they can file clean copy or follow directions well or be kind to their coworkers. When youโre starting out, being a pleasure to work with matters much more than scoops.
if they don't hire former local reporters who worked at small-town papers to write and consult on this incredibly strange world that those of us who lived it know is mired in trauma and legal and societal thorns, the journalism world will collectively lose its f*cking mind
Welp -- looks like there will be an Office spin-off from Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. But it's about a "dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters."
I have 1,000 thoughts.
UPDATE: Paxton perform 100 hours of community service in Collin County, take 15 hours of legal ethics education and pay a restitution of about $300,000. At the end of 18 months, the charges will be dismissed.
The thing is,
@harrysiegel
is a fantastic journalist with excellent ethics, the kind of reporter who gets jazzed about notebooks and data. Not traffic-obsessed. An analyst who cares deeply about facts and how to make them accessible. Iโd trust him on any story, any day.
Hey
@harrysiegel
everyone has an opinion. Itโs a shame
the Daily News chose to share yours โ wild inaccuracies and all. Itโs true we donโt track โdefecation,โ but we do track murder โ and you managed to get that wrong. Rest assured, we will continue to enforce the law and make

The wildest! Like Serena Joy โ you canโt spread any worldview, even trad wifery, without making content about it, so the true believers make themselves exceptions to the rule. In reality, they are proof theyโd be bored and feel trapped in that life, devoid of self-expression
@rebexxxxa
Iโve been thinking about this a lot โ my first instinct was that it felt like a regression โ but I wonder if itโs more an artistic/business miscalculation based on underestimating the millennial, therapy-obsessed chunk of her audience who has outgrown some of these ideas
no quicker way than being on a judging panel for a investigative reporting prize to become newly resolved in my believe that:
- journalism matters and
- the people working today are doing stellar work
- in a world that is Extremely Fucked Up
I just started watching Suits a week ago. Itโs just exactly perfect for what it is. Meghan Markle is gorgeous and good but not great. The episodes are formulaic enough to be dependably watchable but not stressful. Characters are compelling enough to keep clicking play.
Introduced my 2-year-old nephew to the Eras Tour. His favorite might be reputation??? Lots of feet kicks. He correctly labeled โthe Red songsโ ๐ because everything is red on the screen during them, but he does think Speak Now is called โPurple.โ
Rory Gilmore had to complete 300 hours of community service within six months of her sentencing for taking a yacht on a joyride and then returning it to its dock

This is the one. People will still want somewhere to direct their affection via money or gifts, and providing an outlet via donations is, I think, the most elegant solution.
the ENTIRE experience of being a local reporter is like... writing about either insanely boring bureaucratic stuff the same day as having to interview family members when their literal children's bodies were ripped apart in a car accident you're not sure why you're even covering
EXCLUSIVE: Despite falling flat on his face with doomed media outlet The Messenger, Jimmy Finkelstein is already looking to launch another project, multiple sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast.
โBut he soon found himself butting heads with Coles over some of her more outlandish ideas, which included assigning Pengelly a story to consult โmedical expertsโ to examine footage of President Biden and determine if he was suffering from Alzheimerโs.โ
for young journalists, there's maybe no better tool than the
@studyhallxyz
listserv. some days (like today), I get a chuckle from the things journalists have to ask each other, but it's always full of gossip and advice and a window into the brains of working freelancers
I could make a supercut of all the times Aidan rightfully chides Carrie for being unreasonable, including when she literally invited Big โ the man she cheated on him with โ to Aidanโs most sacred cabin, and then makes him host Big overnight and cook for him. Itโs every episode!
@hifortesa
Iโve become a huge fan of what Iโve started calling integration breaks โ sometimes I need time off to process and fully absorb and act on all the things Iโve unpacked. I always sort of assumed Iโd go back when and if I needed it, which I have!
For the first half hour at least, Civil Warโs depiction of journalism is fucking inspiring โ the spirit of adventure, the trauma, the bearing witness, the defiance, the uselessness, (then importance,) the glamorizing of ambition and competition over collaboration
@BeanWalrus
I need a magazine to do a deep dive on what the fck happened with the ADR in this movie. I havenโt stopped thinking about it since I left the theater
EXCLUSIVE: Jake Borelli will be departing ABCโs

after seven years on the show, including being a series regular for the past five seasons, Deadline has learned. According to sources, Borelli is in negotiations to return next season for several episodes to wrap up
The portrayal of book publishing in Sex and the City is one of the more infuriatingly unrealistic highlights of the rewatch, behind $4/word at Vogue and her addiction to Bigโs avoidance and ambivalence
@MarlowNYC
Thereโs something so interesting about the decision even to publicize this to garner sympathy. Nobody is entitled to extravagant wealth! The worst thing happening to you is youโre slowly being forced to downsize to live like us normals???
@rebexxxxa
Also fwiw I think the album was a lot more enjoyable when I stepped out of the lore and analysis, which of course we are only participating in because of the dynamic that we, as an audience, did not create on our own
Thinking of the time I was at a coffee shop surrounded by laptop people and the lady next to me was hunched over for 15 minutes typing at warp speed and when I sneaked a peek at her screen I saw she was writing a massive post on the Caroline Calloway subreddit
