Teacher grief 🧵 (TW: death of a child) Last week, we found out an ex-pupil had died. The circumstances of his death are hard to process and accept. It has been tough. He had to move schools two years ago, at the end of Y4. Saying goodbye then was hard. I didn’t want to.

I love that churches and synagogues are hosting iftars ⛪️🕍💙 I love that masjids fed people and hosted warm spaces on Christmas Day 🕌💙 I love that at our school, Ramadan and Easter decorations are side by side. The Christmas and Hanukkah ones were too. It’s deliberate 💙

Although our RE curriculum is broad and rich, we only really put up decorations at Christmas. Children learn about Easter, Eid, Passover, Wesak and more but we don’t necessarily celebrate them in the same way. So we’ll do better at that – starting with #Ramadan #belonging

@lewis_goodall ‘Far from ideal” doesn’t cut it. 1) The complete disregard to the stress levels and mental health of school leaders is breathtaking. 2) To bleat on in the press that “reopening schools safely is a priority” and then whack out guidance this late just doesn’t match up.

In case you missed it, schools can order free 30GB data only SIM cards from @VodafoneUK . They can be inserted into smartphones and used as WiFi hotspots or be put straight into smart laptops for remote learning – could really help some families. 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

We need to challenge the narrative that children who don’t meet the KS2 standard “can’t read” To claim a child scoring 100 can read, but a child scoring 99 can’t read, is a nonsense.
