So have I understood this right? The gov is going to give £200 to my energy supplier, to protect the shareholders whether I want it or not. Then I have to pay back that money in my bill, to the energy supplier & bills go up again in the autumn?!

Help me. I just emailed someone called Colin and it autocorrected to Colon. I called him Colon. I've sent it, it's too late. Just saw it now. Do I apologise or act like I don't know. Is anyone else here called Colin. Does this ever happen? What are your expectations?

Ah yes - manicures - the universal indicator of wealth given the vast financial investment made. Just think if they didn't have their nails done they'd be able to turn their lives around. How did we miss this glaring solution to inequality?

To be fair, if none of us ever ate, then we could just work 12 hours straight. The same goes for sleeping - if we scrap that too then of course all waiting lists would reduce dramatically. The lack of funding and staff is just a smokescreen for us being outrageously lazy.

Oh Paul!! That is almost poetic! We are kindred spirits!
I also once had an auto correct that changed tested to testes which made my referral something very different. I can't be trusted.

2731 covid patients in hospital might be less than last time but it is still 2731 less hospital beds available, which means delayed treatments, worsening symptoms, pressured discharges, queueing ambulances, overwhelmed primary care.

The term 'overqualified' is odd? I'm an ANP, so I got some extra qualifications as my career progressed but I will never be overqualified to wash my patient, to feed them, to take a simple blood pressure, to walk them to their car. Those are the 'basics' of nursing for a reason

I have no idea what this must feel like. I just feel that I cannot scroll away from this tweet without telling you that I read it and that it meant something.
@Lover_Of_Neuro
I'm so sorry you feel that way, and that your experience of nurses has been negative enough to post this. We aren't all like that thankfully but sadly you haven't seen the true spirit of nursing. Challenge it. Call it out. Kindness has to work all ways.
@topcat1704
🤣🤣 that happens a lot. Christabel on occasions too. Although I once had a confused patient who called me Nigel for 3 night shifts and it stuck for weeks.
How do we have a hope in hell of managing a winter crisis where the sick can't heat their homes or afford adequate nutrition? There don't seem to get any NICE guidelines for managing elite fueled class divide.

A nurse is a gift to the world. remember your craft is yours, it does not belong to the place you work. That place is blessed to have your craft, for which it pays far too little. Nurses can do so much more than serve a failing system. The patients need us more than the system.

Genuinely this is a big part of what stopped me transitioning from ANP to Dr. The massive debt and a pay cut, terrible work life balance (as a working mum) and the way I see junior doctors get treated. Totally agree doctors deserve better.
Proud moment: My mom is on her way in to her last shift as a nurse before retirement. She’s worked (mostly) in long-term care for 45 years. She was set to retire pre-COVID but stayed on for her patients.

Evidence shows that if, every year we frantically skip through 723 PowerPoint slides and then guess the multiple choice answers, we will be safe and effective practitioners. If it shows red, then the patients are way more at risk of contracting information governance disease.

Each day I just try to make the difference where I can, to give my patients what I can and to work for something better. I read my children books about great people and tell them each day what is wo derful in the world. And then I drink wine...

Oh good another test question where we all have to choose what disorder an unhappy woman has from the endlessly insightful checklist of 5 options- none of which tell us what the problem is.
@First_Neptunian
We do not replace doctors. We are advanced nurses. Some of our skills overlap but we are not doctors and don't claim to be them. ANP's have worked alongside doctors happily for a long time. We are totally different to PA's.
I find a lot of people including healthcare professionals assume medical cannabis patients want more drugs, but I find I many cases patients are seeking medical cannabis because they want LESS of the drugs we otherwise prescribed them.

Thank you. Yes I do a very similar job to a GP, assess, diagnose, prescribe etc. I did my BSc in nursing and then went after 6 years I went back to university and did a Masters in advanced clinical practice. I'm so lucky to have had the opportunity xx

I've been in 'hiding' way into the night the last three days doing all the things I can't do in the day because I am seeing patients for 10 hours solid. When the surgery doors close we stay, writing referrals, calling patients, reviewing results, planning vaccination clinics...
@Xeon4f145d96s1
If you could cut it down to 2 minutes per letter, typed with just one hand whilst doing ward round with the other hand, then you could do even more before you drive 3 hours to get home from you geographically ideal training placements.
They think we are machines.

If someone can't be seen that day by a GP or an ANP then it's because we are already seeing a full list. On an on call day, myself and my ANP and GP colleagues will triage over 200 patients and often before lunch we have already used all of our F2F capacity and squeeze in extras
