Washington St. looks a bit different now! The barriers we used to expand outdoor dining have covers! Artists painted designs on tarps that were installed over the barriers in time for the weekend. TY Norwalk Arts Commission for curating the art & Norwalk DPW for installing them.

The new rainbow crosswalk on West Avenue outside Mathews Park is being installed this week and it's coming out great! Please drive slowly through the area as contractors are on site. We can't wait to officially cut the ribbon and unveil the crosswalk later this month!

This spot at Oyster Shell Park usually becomes a muddy mess with the slightest bit of precipitation. Now, thanks to our Parks, Engineering, and Operations Teams, the area was covered with some crushed stone to alleviate some of these problems. Great job everyone!

Today, Mayor Rilling and the Police Commission presented Norwalk lifeguard Morgan Saunders with a Civilian Award for her life-saving efforts at Calf Pasture Beach. On June 29, Morgan raced into the water to rescue an unresponsive child who was seen face down.

Last week, more than 1,400 cars came to Calf Pasture Beach to receive food. The need for food is still real in our community. The next food distribution event at the beach will be this Wednesday, January 20 at 9am. A walk-up line will be available for those without a vehicle.

We recently put out 6 new pairs of trash & recycling bins along Washington St. These replace the garbage cans that were there & is the first time we’ve had recycling cans along the street. The lids are secured to the containers and will help keep trash and recyclables contained!

Today we officially cut the ribbon on the recently completed West Rocks MS Soccer Complex! The state-of-the-art complex includes a multi-use turf field, LED lights, concession stand, bathrooms & parking lot. We know this field is going to be enjoyed by the community for years!

Happy Monday! It's going to be hot & humid today with lots of sun. The beach & boat ramps are open for residents looking to get in the water & we have Norwalk Adventure Clubs for those staying home. Whatever you do remember to stay hydrated & wear a face covering. Enjoy the day!

The @CTFoodBank is back with its newest two trailers and two trucks. We are currently preparing for another drive-thru food pantry at Vets Park from 10am-2pm today. Free food for 1,500 households, open to the public, no questions asked!

Absentee ballots are now being mailed to voters who returned applications. Completed ballots can be returned by mail, or left in secure drop boxes outside City Hall or Norwalk Police Department. Polling places will also be open on August 11 for those who wish to vote in-person.
