I was verbally abused on the road today by a man in a car, because I wouldn’t cycle in a bike lane that was in the door zone, and full of holes. He told me he was going to push me off my bike and that I shouldnt be on the road as I can’t do 30mph. I felt down when I got home and

I got physically assaulted today whilst cycling to school with my 2 young children. The man assaulted me after telling my 2 children to go to school as his mom was going to get beat up. My kids are 8and 9 and this was on the same road as the primary school. @adamtranter

My 9 year old autistic son was knocked off his bike today by a car who cut the corner at a junction in school traffic. He has some injuries and bike has damage, the driver stopped and then sped off as soon as the bike was moved off the road. Police and ambulance attended.

@PomKenny What makes you think that I don’t have to be somewhere too? I was on my road bike and certainly not doing 5mph. I have done 20mph in 20 Zone and 30mph in a 30mph zone and still been overtaken as drivers are obsessed with getting in front of bikes

@antlooony Thank you, it was awful particularly as my other son was behind and had to watch this happen to his older brother. Both children are bikeability level 2 trained and are confident on the road. Thankfully a driver came forward and caught the whole thing on dash cam.

@ABAnderson1 @grescoe I shoo for a family of 5 on a dutch bike, not electric. I carry my 7 year old on the back too as he really enjoys going shopping on it. It means I have to go a couple of times a week but it's enjoyable and a lot cheaper than owning a car

Mile home from the park. He also said I was dangerous as I was riding in the middle of the road, I was riding primary next to my 8 year old son with my 9 year old son just ahead of us - so perfectly legal. The only one who did anything illegal was the driver.

@SheffNW_NPT This enforcement should be everywhere, we have a train station car park which is free and has spaces but because people don't want to walk a little bit further they dump their cars on the footpath. My 3 young children and I end up walking on the road that they won't park on.

@snoopysnoopy135 It’s ok, most dont use cycle lanes as they are sometimes dangerous or dont go where they need to go etc. this particular cycle lane is in the door zone next to a line of parked cars. Theres also a few pinch points and the holes would send me off my bike under the wheels of a car

@DrVxD @2wheelsnot4 Me too, I got hit by a car who came out of a junction of a roundabout and hit me whilst I was on my bike and broke my collar bone
