These founders spent the majority of their careers in quantum computing at Google Quantum. They invented the tech stack to bring AI to quantum while they were kids in college. But they ultimately decided to leave build an AI computing platform that is much nearer than quantum

Their goal is to scale AI past Moore's wall. They predict current compute will hit a wall by 2030 due to the nature of transistors and deterministic hardware reaching a point of diminishing returns. Their goal is to catch the tail-end of the s-curve and keep AI accelerating.

This is why @Extropic_AI is rebuilding the entire tech stack from first principles. They've already invented a way to use transformers on their hardware which has an inference speed that is 1000-10,000x faster than GPUs.

Scaling GPUs requires chips to become smaller and more compact so we can fit more transistors. But, when too small they become unreliable because they are stochastic and cant capture thermal noise. Probabilistic computing is needed to capture the noise and keep scaling.
