New Ukrainian classmate yesterday for my 6 year old. They walked out of school holding hands. My daughter says they’re teaching each other their languages in the yard, using facial expressions and hands gestures. Children should run the world.
Huge SUV mounted the path beside daughter to park on double yellow lines. Politely requested driver not do that again as size of his vehicle blocks view of under 7s. Got told I needed to go home and get my husband to ‘sort me out’ & more. Well spoken businessman type. Exhausting
Majority of Wicklow county councillors today voted against providing Ukranian family accommodation in west Wicklow including Jennifer Whitmore’s Social Democrat cooptee.
@SocDems
is this your position? What happened to ‘unwavering support’ for the people of Ukraine in Ireland?
More reaction to me standing against hate speech in Bray. Called Antifa scum and how dare I. The entire harbour area destroyed last night with racist, homophobic graffiti yet again. If you are in Bray please share, ask around. Somebody knows who this is.
Interesting to see that Brian Stanley’s wife was co-opted to her his council seat when he won his Dail seat. I too was co-opted into my husband’s seat (by a transparent process, voted in by local branch) and the abuse I received from certain SF members& supporters was horrendous
Hi
@lidl_ireland
I tried calling and got transferred and cut off. Your Bray store has conspiracy ridden anti science far right graffiti all over it. Last time there was hate graffiti naming me and my colleague, we had to remove it ourselves. Can you act please?
Usual anti Green whinge fest on
@rteliveline
this time about bottle and can deposit and return scheme. One outraged caller against the scheme says WELL I WON’T BE BUYING PLASTIC BOTTLES ANYMORE. Brilliant! The more people offended into boycotting plastic bottles the better.
Rentamob scum in

don’t care about injured children. My thoughts are with the injured and their families and little friends, and the members of
@gardainfo
whose families must be terrified for their safety tonight.
Huge privilege to be elected Cathaoirleach of
@BrayTCouncil
this week. Third consecutive female Cathaoirleach in a district that often had no women at the table is amazing.
Horrible and upsetting to see what Roderic O’Gorman has had to face from these twisted people. He is a person of the utmost integrity. I know he will make an excellent Minister and he has our party’s full support.
A small group of people with a very clear agenda have been making allegations about me on social media over the last few days.
I’m taking this opportunity to set the record straight.
Conspiracy far right whack jobs preventing Bray Gardai from doing their jobs today, protesting over the rightful arrest last week of yer woman who I won’t name.
This appeared in Bray overnight courtesy of Dr Duck, supporting the
#brayforlove
message. With all the racist, homophobic and targeted graffiti we have been subjected to in Bray in recent months this is a wonderful gift to our community.
@Independent_ie
For clarity,
@Independent_ie
can you explain why the measures are anti car? Because this headline is editorialised, it is the Independent stating this. Either an agenda or very poor social media staff, which is it?
@cfoleyirl
I let a lot go but I think I will report this. He also asked for my employers name (was standing outside
@stevensgreen1
office) and said he was going to destroy me on a local Facebook forum. He didn’t know I was a cllr and I didn’t say, he wants to target me as an employee.
Very small news compared to all the gowns and chains wrapped around some of my colleagues at the moment but I’m delighted to have been elected Leas Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District last week.
@aine_elizabeth
Nothing more than my impression of this person is that he’s probably a gent to people who matter to him in business etc and an abusive, horrible misogynist to women who ‘don’t matter’ ie random mothers challenging him.
If you live in Greystones your Green Party TD Steven Mathews
@stevensgreen1
has just saved you 20% on your DART fare to the city centre. That’s separate to and on top of the 20% reduction in all fares by government last week.
2weeks ago following a spate of homophobic graffiti about a Green Minister & racist slogans daubed all over our town of Bray I released a statement asking people to call out hate speech. Today, this. I have blanked the offensive word. They’re correct, I don’t speak for them.
Spent the morning with the Gardai who are taking this very seriously and will be investigating. Needless to say the photos are only a fraction of the hate speech graffiti that has been sprayed.
I’ve no problem admitting it, I’ve been in love with
@RossOCK
for the best part of 20 years, am beyond excited that he’s in my home town. This delivery made my morning.
#braywatch
Delighted to be selected as Chair of the Bray Head SAAO management committee tonight. The SAAO was achieved largely due to work by Green activism pre 2008 when politics was a cold place for a Green. Happy to play a role in protecting local natural heritage.
Amazing to welcome
@BasEickhout
our lead European Green candidate, to my hometown and constituency of Bray today. We talked Green politics local, national and global. It’s never been more important to have Green representation, from Bray to Brussels
#keepgoinggreen
One of the big positives that came from being subjected to horrible graffiti after standing against racism was this group, a wonderful group of activists that I’m so happy to work with 🙌
Wicklow is the first local authority to introduce 30kph periodic speed zones outside all schools. I pushed this at the time of consultation but honestly I didn’t think it would pass. Delighted it did and the signs are now being installed.
Today we raised the Ukrainian flag in the foyer of Bray Municipal District offices to show ongoing solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The flag was sent from a soldier on the frontline, his family live in our community in Bray. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
Green Dublin Bay South TDs of Past, Present and... Future? That will depend on

I'm running to strengthen the Green voice in government, on transport,

€3.42 from gov for cycling infrastructure in Co Wicklow including new and widened footpaths, segregated cycle lanes, road fixes and resurfacing, pedestrian crossings etc. Will help with accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians 🚶♀️ 🚴♀️
In the midst of a housing crisis, up to 180,000 properties are lying vacant in Ireland and the Green Party believes every one of them could be a home. So we're taking action. Find out how on Tuesday February 22nd at 10.30am 👇

It was a great honour to welcome
@charliebird49
and his beautiful family including of course Tiger, to Wicklow County Council this evening to bestow upon Charlie the freedom of Wicklow. Well done to council staff for a lovely ceremony and
@tadgh_byrne
for the fabulous nibbles.
Absolute pleasure to launch the new sensory room at Little Bray Resource Centre courtesy of the work of
@TripleAAlliance
and finding from
@MentalHealthIrl
Would be great to see these rooms in community and resource centres across the country. Thanks to Charlie for his help!
Great news that Wicklow County Council will receive 378k grants towards five projects for climate adaptation measures from Minister Eamon Ryan’s Dept Climate Action, Communications and Environment.
@niamh_lyons
Breast is best is just a fact that had to be promoted to counter against years of formula companies telling us that formula is the same if not better then breast milk. That’s not a judgement on mums or how they choose to feed, it’s a fact about the milk.
I’ll be on
@morningecfm
with Declan at 10.30am talking about the
@BainneBeatha
campaign to improve breastfeeding supports services. All mothers who wish to breastfeed should receive adequate support and income should not be a barrier to successful breastfeeding! 🤱
I’ve said this elsewhere - would we stand by and watch a dog suspended in a cage in this heat? Our ‘pick and choose’ attitude to animal welfare in this country is embarrassing.
#PuckFair
We are lucky to have 2 incredible candidates for leader in
@rodericogorman
and
@pippa_hackett
My vote will go to Pippa, who has been a huge support to me over the years. Sincere and focused, she has excellent leadership qualities and will bring a fresh voice to the role.
Just reading some of the anti mask posts. Not only are they refusing to wear masks but also refusing (for themselves and their children) temp checks, social distancing and HAND SANITISER. However they’re also not sending children to school because.. they might catch Covid? 🤯
Often see people read a headline and jump straight into outrage mode without finding out context so when I heard about Beacon vaccines I reserved judgement. But nope, nothing I’ve read, including their own statement, makes it better. CEO needs to answer questions about decision.
📢I'm delighted to allocate funding of €1.58m for the provision of more consultants to provide support for breastfeeding in our maternity units.

#slaintecare
Does this solve everything in one fell swoop? Of course not. But I was a single parent for a long time and these measures (along with increase in Working Family Payment, formerly FIS) would have benefited me directly on a day to day basis. They are tangible measures.

One of the smaller mentions in the budget that may have gone unnoticed by many is funding for morning sickness drug Cariban. As a former hyperemesis sufferer I am delighted that this will now be more accessible to pregnant women. Thanks to
@HyperemesisIE
for their work.
Win for pedestrians in Bray. Last year Councillors (majority) voted to raise prime parking space charges by just 20c per hour. This week I secured 10k of that extra income for a new pedestrian crossing at Albert Avenue, direct route between DART and residential area.
All playgrounds should be inclusive. Bray seafront isn’t but soon will be. Grant application I worked on with council team successful + funds I secured last year = inclusive playground. Win!

He’s 10 and he lives in my house. His favourite characters are from Kerry and he’s keen for the action to be set again in the Leinster House location used in earlier seasons. He can also recite some debates (big rows) from memory as he rewatches them 🎅 🤓
Great news this morning as €7.14m allocated to Bray Harbour works. I sit on the Bray Harbour Joint Development Committee and I’m looking forward to watching this progress with a scheme that improves the area while keeping its character.
Delighted to see that during a time where people are struggling to eke out a living and sacrificing contact with loved ones to help protect us all, that hare coursing is considered an elite sport and will continue as normal. WTAF.
First page of the ‘How to be a Local Politician’ guide is to point meaningfully at things that aren’t there yet!
@boltapp
eBikes on the way soon, for all those in Bray wondering what the turquoise shapes are.
Two negative Covid tests in this house today. 26 hours from phone call to tests. 30 hours from tests to results. 10 year old said the test was totally fine and feels quite proud he didn’t close his eyes, unlike the accompanying grown up 😑
Is there an upside to being targeted by right wing idiots with hateful graffiti? There is if it means you get to meet people like
@CoachFoley14
and involved with
@Speak4JusticeIE
. Emer found time to support me even through her own abuse. V proud of her tonight.

Pleased to have brought enabling legislation for small scale tree planting through second stage in the Seanad this evening. Looking forward to strong engagement on scheme design to deliver for nature. Planting more trees essential for

A difficult subject but an important conversation. Our Green Party Animal Welfare Policy group host this meeting on September 25th. Register in advance, details in poster.
@taraconnollyGP
Yes it’s curious that the next government is completely unknown yet viewed as preferable somehow. We have an outbreak of Covid at a DP centre in my town. I don’t want any delay in dismantling that system, it’s one of the reasons I voted yes to PfG.
@juneshannon
My senior infant has an illicit friendship with two bigger girls across the frontier of the yard division. She is beyond excited that she will be able to legally talk to them from now on.
Breast milk is nature’s perfect first food. Mothers who wish to breastfeed should receive support, the benefits are far reaching. Will be pushing for this from gov! Pic is me feeding daughter at my wedding 2 years ago - we’re still going strong today🤱

While it’s easy to laugh at these Gemtrail crackpots with their tin foil hat theories and sheer ignorance and stupidity, this type of racism and intimidation is serious and cannot be tolerated. Esp at the home of a young child.
Thank You to An Garda Síochána for their assistance yesterday. I will continue to work with all interested parties on addressing racism and working on integration in our city.

I don’t recall a party leader ever advertising thousand euro outfits in a makeover shoot for a paper before but maybe I missed it? Actually thought it was a joke! Just imagining the reaction if this was A N Other party leader 🤔
When changes to tax & social welfare allowances are analysed, the results show that lower income households benefit the most from
#Budget2021
. This is a budget that protects the vulnerable with targeted supports including an increase in one parent family allowance.

So filled with rage that has nowhere to go watching the news of Sarah Everard all day. It taps into the fear so many women have. Meaning no headphones at night, keys in hand walking home, panic when a car slows down or there’s close footsteps. We shouldn’t have to live like this
This is excellent news but where there’s work to be done is in the enforcement. V light touch in my town of Bray and it’s rampant. Particularly important to enforce in areas around schools.
New regulations doubling the fixed charge penalty for motorists caught parking on footpaths, cycle tracks and bus lanes will come into operation on Feb 1, 2022.
Illegal parking puts vulnerable road users at risk and undermines State investment in sustainable transport.
We held vigil for Ashling in Bray. Specifically noted it was organised by ‘women of Wicklow’ no reference to groups or politics. Just a gathering, candles and moment of silence. Out of nowhere a man addressed the crowd about his religious group and tried to say the Our Father.
@qualann
I know. And I’m not sure if he meant violently or sexually and I suppose it doesn’t matter because they’re both horrendous things to say to a woman standing with her small child. Or anybody ever.

Three days post Santa and the most popular game between the 5 and 10 year old is duelling in the hall with an old lightsaber and a plastic sword that was won at a funfair hook a duck around four years ago.
