Absolutely gutted about this. 6 years ago I fought to rezone this & turn it into a pocket park. Now its been closed off for 18 months to facilitate a development with no consultation with Cllrs. One of few places to sit, esp in an #outdoor summer, this is disappointing stuff.

Love these proposed public realm designs for Suffolk Street & Grafton Street / Nassau Street, using SUDS and providing green infrastructure to help manage surface run off and reduce carbon emissions. They also look nicer, calmer and much better than the current design.

The new hotel in #Portobello didn't get permission for a set down area. So they moved the planters I had put in after they used the harbour as a car park & just painted their own white lines & letters. An incredibly flagrant disregard for planning & public space. Read story 👇

And that's a wrap for #dbsbyelection #DBS21 - incredible teams out all day re-covering the constituency with our final reasons on why to vote for me tomorrow - to strengthen the progressive Green voice in government and get even more delivered on #housing , #climateaction + more.

On public #toilets , DCC @greenparty_ie had this motion agreed at tonight's meeting. There will be licences granted for mobile retail units with toilets & some reopening of toilets in public buildings, sports facilities etc soon. But we need permanent solutions too beyond #COVID19

For many, many years, @greenparty_ie have been trying to put an end to the excessive & unnecessary Eastern By Pass that would burrow under Dublin Bay. It's no longer an objective in the NTA GDA thanks to @EamonRyan & tonight we finally had it removed from the City Dev Plan.Result.

Proof that public realm improvements result in traffic evaporation. It's actually a real thing, and not just something the Greens made up to improve public transport, sustainable mobility infrastructure & air quality.

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 & replaced it with a restored stream & 1000 acre park in the city’s centre, not only did it transform the city’s public life & economic success, but the traffic got better. The traffic got BETTER.

This is very good news. However we agreed 900 social & affordable units, & we need more details on how they will be delivered. But its progress. I'm also thrilled that they upheld the 5% creative, cultural & community space & 40 artist studios, which I fought hard for in the SDZ

Actually a bit lost for words due to how incredibly momentous this is. The most ambitious piece of climate legislation in the history of the state is now enacted. So very proud of @EamonRyan @Paulkenny79 @BrianLeddin @paulinegalway @greenparty_ie colleagues & all others involved.

Disappointing to see similar scenes in town again last night. We need to: Allocate more space so people aren't funnelling into the one street Bring in outdoor event control experts to support the Gardai & DCC in managing the City Remember the residents - people live here too

Less than a year after I put down a motion calling for a new safe pedestrian crossing at the junction of Kevin St & Bride Street, it's up & running. Now people can cross safely on all sides. It's these small victories that make life as a local Councillor good. #pedestrians #safety

No more 4% annual hikes for renters! Under the new scheme set to be in place by July 9, rent can only be increased in line with the inflation rate--which was .73% the last three years. Next stop: legislating for indefinite duration. #dbsbyelection

By putting climate, housing and culture at the heart of our decisions, we can make Dublin a city for living. This is where the Green Party can and will deliver, and that’s why I’m asking for your number one vote on July 8th. #dbsbyelection

1st of 3 DCC events highlighting the potential of a pedestrianised #Collegegreen . Little heavy on the cowgates & security but there was something very lovely about sitting in a people focused clamer, quieter centre with Lord Mayor @PaulMcauliffe & @Pidge watching people sketch.

9 rotations of the sun later & we are having the same Local Property Tax discussions in the Chamber. This year, those who opposed our motion voted against raising €12m for litter & street cleaning services & €2.5m for local communities. Remember that at the polling booth in 2024.

Nearly 2 years later the Repeal mural has been painted over again. I understand the position @projectarts are in,but this does raise questions about public art & activism & the need for clearer policy.Fair play to @HunRealIssues & @MaserArt . Let this not defeat us. #repealthe8th

Sums it up nicely. I'm struggling to find the words myself in relation to the Sandymount trial cycle route ruling. I fear for what this judgement means for other projects in the City, temporary or otherwise, & how we will meet our new #ClimateAction targets.

Here's our reaction to today's High Court decision on Strand Road. "We are in a #ClimateCrisis , to which our transport emissions contribute significantly, so the onus is on the authorities to create an environment where [...] cycling becomes the norm, rather than the exception."

1/2 This is extremely frustrating. Yes, we need to get building quickly but we also need to stick to the agreed 25% allocation of social & affordable homes at EVERY phase. Ringsend is a strong community – we can’t let it become a preserve for the wealthy.

This is so unbelievably sad to see. The building was to be used by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive as a family hub. Thanks to @DubFireBrigade & @DubCityCouncil for keeping it under control & the people of #Ringsend safe.

'But people can't drive at 30km per hour' was the arguments we heard against introducing safer speed limits in Dublin. Well driving slower also helps use fuel much more efficiently which is pretty important right now. Saving money & lives. Time to revisit that proposal...
