A last look at South Kentish Town disused #station on #London #underground in 1997. To get out we flagged down a Northern line train by red Bardic lamp; here's one we missed! You see clearly that the 1906 tiles survive over the tunnel vault & that the platform has been removed.

@MrTimDunn That's great! & am pleased to see it's all still there - I was last on the station in 1997. Times were founded by John Jacobs, was flourishing in inter-war years, specialising in 'hire purchase' to the growing number of home owners. Another of their ads in 1939 LT brochure.

@matthewhodg From E&C to Camberwell comes a close second I'd say. Why TfL/Mayors have so ignored street mass transit I'll never really know - at the moment the ridiculous number of buses milling around at E&C is beyond ludicrious.

The conservation contractors did wonderful work throughout this project. As for me - I aged about 100 years. There were moments when this was a titanic struggle.

You can just make out the "DOW" on Down Street disused station on the #London #underground PIccadilly line, pic'd in 1997. Some of the original 1906 platform tiles that remain tucked away in equipment rooms despite the station's conversion to WW2 use. #history @NUL_Transport
