@JayCuda Of course this doesn't work out in the long run because the high number of baseball games minimizes the impact of a few good luck or bad luck games. If the 72 Dolphins or the 07 Patriots were somehow able to play 162 games, there is no way they would go undefeated.

In 2005, the Yankees payroll was $208 million. 2nd was the Red Sox at $123 million. Yankees payroll was 69% higher. The 2023 Mets payroll projection is $366 million. 2nd is the Yankees at $272 million. Mets payroll is 34% higher.
