When I dug into the genocide question, I found many legal/academic experts arguing in detail that Gaza is already a genocide or is on the brink of genocide. I have not seen a law-based argument that acknowledges the definition of genocide and explains why Gaza doesn’t qualify.

South Africa's case before the International Court of Justice provides an opportunity for a definitive ruling: Is Israel committing genocide in Gaza? The scale of killing is sufficient. The case will turn on proving genocidal intent from many statements.

Police are grossly out of control. These videos are always full of panic+incoherence. Nichols starts by trying to de-escalate (his is the only calm voice): “you guys are really doing a lot right now. I’m just trying to get home.” The cops melt down and beat him to death.

Guys this isn’t about me, my kids are older. It’s about priorities and babies. Since some of you ask, pre-formula, luckier babies who couldn’t be breastfed had wet nurses (are you offering?) or got cow milk, sugar water or whatever could be found. Some didn’t thrive; some died.

To be fair, on the Palestinian side, I never trusted the death tolls. The battle of Jenin (which I did not cover) was notorious — Palestinian accounts of hundreds or thousands killed and mass graves were not substantiated, afaik. I always say: everyone lies about war.
