Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying photo-realistic graphics are bad, or somehow less emotional. They allow for _different_ ranges of emotion and more directorial control - but it's not like they're the natural apex of all gaming genres.

So much game writing/dialogue feels stilted and unnatural. I don't believe you have to be hyper-intellectual to write great dialogue, but you DO have to commit to reading it aloud, and thinking carefully about how conversations actually work. It's not magic, it's just effort.

Lots of people have asked me recently what the difference between a narrative designer and a writer is. There's a very long answer (blog soon) but the short one is: Writer = writer. Narrative design = games-specific storytelling fused with multi-disciplinary design thinking.

@andihero It's a fantastic open world game with a worse-than-usual story and some of the worst dungeon design in the series. It's essentially a large physics playground - which is divisive. It's not what I personally want from a Zelda game.

IDK who needs to hear this, but nice as it is being featured in hype machine previews etc, it's not essential to your game being successful, or your career, or your happiness. If you are quietly trucking along, making a game with heart, it will touch just as many people.

With the release of Rose Gold, @kittaveli has moved from hip-hop and synths into what can only be described as pan-genre genius. It's her most raw and yet somehow also her most polished record yet. Unmissable.

@BryanRenno I don't think anyone legitimately cares about a few day one patches. What people get irked about - rightfully so - is a game launching with half its promised features missing and not being any good until 6 months later.
