I’m 37,
I have a full time job,
I have multiple degrees,
I have a 10 year old and a wife.
I never would have thought I would have made it this far.
But if not for this barbell, these weights, and my wife,
I don’t know where I’d be, but I’d likely still be circling the drain
@wiseconnector
When you back in, you’re are aware of all pedestrians as you approach the spot, so there is less risk of hit to someone.
But backing out of the spot means you have to be aware of pedestrians you might not have already seen approaching.
Any dads out there “raising the bar” also?
1+ on my programming meant anything more than 1 rep.
I thought 10 would be enough, but settled for 7.
345 for 7 ain’t bad.
@FitFounder
It also makes tracking your meals much easier, because you know exactly what you’re putting in your body every single day.
I’ve been eating the exact same breakfast and lunch for the past few years and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Celebrating the big 38 today.
With that being said,
a little about me…
I’m a husband, a father, son and a veteran.
I teach for a living and love to coach.
I’m an adult but act like a child,
I have tons of flaws, but I try my best.
I have a big heart but struggle to show
Took the advice of
@DadFitSpartan
and put on the plate carrier for today’s mile run.
Took it nice and easy, and it was great!
Not used to running with it on but I will get used to it.
@SeffSaid
I believe everyone deserves multiple chances.
We can’t judge a person on one weak moment.
Then again that depends on the severity of the issue.
@wiseconnector
I’ve been to many places around the world and experienced many things during my travels, but I’ll still never willingly eat bugs.
That and food that has rotted or fermented.
But I’ll try most other things.
@DaveEDanna
Probably the same reason a family could have one child as a contributing member of society and another can be an addict…
We can be raised around all the love and support, but grow in separate directions.
It’s truly a mystery to me, but I’ve wondered this same thing for years
@Culture_Crit
The attention to detail seems beyond comparison.
I love that you point out the jugular vein signify heightened fear or emotional state similar to that, even though it hasn’t been documented formally.
So beautiful!
@newheightshow
@JasonKelce
@tkelce
Can’t say that I disagree with the big man!
Sometimes I want more control over the combo, instead fitting inside of the box they choose for me.
@SeffSaid
Eggs.
Think of the movie Forrest Gump, specially when bubba is explaining all the different ways to easy shrimp.
That’s how I would treat eggs!
If you want a sturdy house, you have to build a sturdy foundation.
If you want to be a successful olympic weightlifter, you also have to have a sturdy foundation.
This can be achieved through
Proper mindset,
proper technique,
Proper programming,
All of which can be helped
@wiseconnector
Lack of confidence in one’s abilities, or possibly thinking the end result isn’t worth the effort meaning a short cut is the best way forward?
@historyinmemes
He’s got a great point.
We are all unique in our own ways. We get caught up in putting things on a pedestal that we forget why we are individually beautiful.
Im a good father and husband, a decent weightlifter and coach, but I pride myself mainly on being a good person.
Average men shy away from adversity
Shoot for extraordinary,
Because doing the difficult, but right thing will always lead you to a better sense of self worth,
But a good way to train this type of mentality is weight lifting.
What are your weightlifting goals?
My first goal is to
•snatch what I currently clean
•clean what I can currently squat
•squat what I can currently deadlift
•and deadlift my man card back from my wife
If your goals are shit, your outcome will be shit.
Shooting for the
Weighed in at 182 pounds Saturday morning,
Then smoked a 225 pound snatch.
Weight is steadily going down and strength is staying where I want it.
You have good days, and bad days, but don’t let the bad days ruin the good days.
@MenMoneyMindset
Sometimes we need to feel rock bottom before we can find the right direction upward.
These just happen to be the catalyst to life changing events.
@ML_Philosophy
Being able to identify, adapt, and grow.
I believe intelligence is our capacity for learning, so adapting to new learning is a huge indicator as well.
I haven’t done these in a while,
So I was pretty damn excited when I got 245.
I felt like I could have gotten 265 but didn’t want to push it.
Still shooting for the day I can snatch 245, which probably isn’t that far out.
Found out that my daughter learned how to play chess at school…
What kind of dad would I be if I didn’t absolutely demolish her.
So we played a game last night and I took every single one of her pieces just to prove that I love her.
One day, she’ll appreciate that lesson.
@tyromper
The “disappear for 6 months” and “don’t tell anyone what your doing” comments always get me.
Just be you and don’t worry about all the nonsense that is happening all around you.
Focus on a weakness until it’s not, then work on another.
Use Sunday to prepare for the rest of the week.
Plan your big tasks,
Rest and recover,
Meal prep,
Relax.
But don’t forget to exercise and take care of your body today.
@FitFounder
Tough, I’d say I’m a little of both.
Subconsciously I tell myself I can have a little extra carbs when I’ve worked out, but typically I have to eat healthy to supply my workouts.
If this post gets 100 likes,
I’ll go to the gym today.
F^ck that, I’m going anyway but I’d like to see if 100 people would still try to offer encouragement.
Some days you feel great
Some days are a grind.
Today was a grind,
but it was my wife’s birthday
That’s why she made the cut today instead of my fail video.
After seeing
@bryk_squuaadd
crushing some paused deadlifts, I thought I’d try them out.
Pausing on the way up AND down is a game changer!
Highly recommend!
My sunset on my ride home from coaching last night.
It’s funny, I never noticed this type of thing until I was an adult.
Makes me feel like I’ve actually matured a little bit in my life to be able to notice the beauty all around me.
Some forget to stop and smell the roses.
Always have an exit plan
If you’re going heavy without a spot, it is imperative that you know how to fail.
There’s nothing fancy about it, if you get stuck under a heavy barbell with no one to help,
Just drop it behind you.
Did legs today,
I finished it out with goblet squats with a hip circle.
Edited for time, but this is the last 20 or 30 seconds.
I set the 50 pounder down after a minute.
If your face doesn’t look like this at the end of your workouts,
Step up your game
@ZubyMusic
It’s almost like they don’t want to get rid of them.
I feel like as a small account, every other like and follow I get is a bot, but as a newbie, I can’t always tell the difference.
@wiseconnector
Definitely number 3.
You can conquer the world with a good view and a good workout..,
The tacos and tequila are just icing on the cake.
And what I mean by that is dump out the tequila and eat the hell out of the tacos.
I’ve been in a caloric deficit lately and have been feeling decent…
But my lifts are struggling.
So I’ll switch things up just a bit with both my training and my nutrition.
Nothing crazy though…
It’s ok to adjust the plan after a few weeks of feedback.
I am glad I was always athletic,
because the working out I did as a kid was terribly unorganized and too sporadic.
Knowing what I know now, I could have been jacked in high school.
I’d be light years ahead of where I am now.
Anyone else?
The little one wanted to get a workout in today, unfortunately the wife had to leave early to go to lunch.
Show them the way, give them the tools, and they’ll always find the strength through adversity.
Props to my wife for saving me on this lift in our matching crossfit open shirts from like 2018. (Totally unintentional by the way)
It was just a little too much for me to handle.
When I started my fitness journey, I was clueless
I felt lost every time I walked into the gym
But I knew that as long as I kept walking into the gym, I couldn’t be stopped
I needed accountability for this to worked
Who’s holding you accountable
Let me be your guy, hit me up
My heart rate was at about 2000 bpm here
But it felt great to get some reps in with the rope.
At this point it was 90 degrees and I was at the end of an hour weight training sessions so I was done!!
