@drleatongray It wouldn’t surprise me… I have absolutely no medical expertise or any sort but something is not right generally with these illnesses. As teachers we feel shameful for any time off we have & I rarely do … On this occasion I felt like I had been tackled to the ground.

@BouchMaths We are flogging the same curriculum to children who aren’t (for example) the Year 5s of 2 years ago. I think ongoing research will show the true impact of Covid in terms of behaviour in schools. It’s not the only issue but it’s a massive factor.

As a woman & #teacher , fashion is the enemy! However, my tip to you (& life saver) are 50s style dresses from @CollectifLondon ! They are a little pricey so I often buy them in the sale but you can’t see up/down or through them (v important). They also work across seasons!

@GreshamMiss @MrTs_NQTs I stand where they can all see me and very deliberately stare at my watch. My class knows this means they’re time wasting. Time wasting means less time to play a game at the end of a lesson or have a bit of ‘golden time’ on a Friday.

Received an email from a parent today & under their signature it said ‘My working hours and yours may differ. Please don’t feel you need to reply outside your normal working hours.’ I think it’s a nice acknowledgment but also a reminder that you’re allowed to work to your own 1/2

@Dorotheacalm Thank you for saying this. I wish my parents understood this more … They’re great & although supportive to an extent … they’re obsessed with the career ladder… I think it’s generational because my dad worked for the same company for 20 years …. That’s my idea of hell on this

@CogitoErgo15 I feel this hard as a primary teacher. A gigantic world map has been a huge help and kids love it. I’m not an interior design expert and most of them experience sensory overload if there’s too much crap on the walls!

Today one of the scenes was ‘the solar system.’ Without missing a beat, a child lays down on the ground, grabs his feet so his bum is pointing skywards… he then loudly declares ‘I AM URANUS, MISS.’ Fellow #teachers I have no problem telling you I CRIED with laughter 😂.

@MissT1302 I will never shame those who do go in & really enjoy creating a wonderland classroom. However, I’m not that teacher & never have been & I also go for simple/minimal which is ok. It doesn’t matter how beautiful your room is as long as kids are happy & you can teach comfortably!
